ASA Advance Testing BC Late Model Tour PR

LANGLEY, BC, CANADA (Tuesday, June 7, 2011) - Under warm sunny skies, the ASA Advance Testing BC Late Model Tour opened at the Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, BC, Canada this past Saturday with some of the most talented drivers in BC attending. At the end of the night, it was Tom Berrow putting his name in the record books as the first ever winner.

Tom Berrow (86) passes Rory Smith (16) at the first ASA Advance Testing BC Late Model Tour event, Associated Ready Mix 125

The main event saw Rory Smith in the Bullit Racing Chevrolet from Victoria, BC, after a 75% invert, bring the field to the green and take the early lead with Bob Kuhn on his bumper. The fans were then treated to over 40 laps of green flag racing and saw that Tom Berrow was coming through the field early to take the lead by lap 17. Korbin Thomas started to move through the field picking cars off one at a time but had to retire when he made contact with Bart Smith midway through the race.

Berrow received pressure from Geoff Morris after the few cautions that were thrown throughout the event but gradually extended his lead to go on to a dominating win. The veteren driver drove to the win with his Chevy powered 604-crate motor on the fast 1/2 mile "D" oval.

The day started off with some quick lap times put down in practice by Thomas and Berrow. Thomas had an early draw for qualifying and put down a blistering track record lap of 18:40 to take the Harding Forklift fast time bonus and the early lead for the season ending pole bonus award that will be given out by Pete Harding and Harding Forklift.

The racing started of with Bob Kuhn from Langley, BC in the Bob's Contracting, R&D Motorsports Chevrolet taking the checkers in the B Dash.

The four fastest qualifiers were next with Matt Stevenson in the Ridge Sheet Metal, Precise Engine Builders rocket taking the win in the A dash.

The next events of the day were the ten lap A and B heat races, and Berrow showed early in the first heat that the Advance Testing, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers machine was going to be tough to beat by winning the first heat race from mid pack.

The B heat race saw new track record holder Korbin Thomas in the Key Welding, Finishline Racing Chevrolet make his way from the back of the field to go on to a dominating win, and the fans knew they were in for a highly contested Associated Ready Mix 125 lap main event to follow.

Berrow was quick to thank his crew for giving him a great car and for the support of the series sponsors, Advance Testing, Bayfield Mortgage Professionals, Bob's Contracting, R& D Motorsports, Dutchies Plumbing, Harding Forklift, Jim'y Macs Pub, Longacre Racing Products, Braun Geotechnical, Raider Hansen, Harding Motorsports Supply, Joe's Racing Products, Kool Coat, Richmond Engines, Hemrich Bros.
