The ASA Member Track program is comprised of dirt and asphalt short tracks along with road courses around the United States and Canada, as well as a variety of regional and national touring series.  Drivers from participating ASA Member Tracks across the United States choose one of their divisions as their premiere divisions.  Those drivers in the premiere division, who are ASA members in good standing, will compete at their ASA Member Track to first win their track championship.  Once they accomplish that goal, they will then be matched up against the other premiere division champions to determine the National Champion.

Sports Insurance Specialists, LLC (SIS), a full service sports and special events insurance brokerage based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is the official insurance provider for ASA. ASA members in good standing are eligible for a $500,000 Excess Medical Benefit as well as a $20,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit. SIS provides a comprehensive participant/accident program along with full participant liability, spectator liability, and facility insurance coverage for all ASA Racing events and venues across the United States.

As an added benefit, the ASA Advantage Benefit Plan debuted in 2012 and allows ASA members, who don’t have insurance to find affordable individual and family plans in their respective areas. The ASA Advantage Benefit Plan offers health, term life, simplified issue, dental, prescription, small business and even pet insurance.

Cristiani Leads RMCS into Rocky Mountain Raceway

BOISE, ID (May16, 2013)- The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series returns to Rocky Mountain Raceways located outside Salt Lake City, UT this Saturday night for round two of the 2013 campaign. 18-year old Trevor Cristiani leads the standings after picking up his first career victory two weeks ago at Magic Valley. The RMR layout is a favorite for all the drivers producing some of the best side-by-side racing.
Trevor Cristiani
18-year old Trevor Cristiani leads the RMCS point standings after scoring his first series victory two weeks ago.

Since 2004, there have been thirty previous series races staged at the 3/8-mile paved oval known as the Horsepower Heaven. Steve Jones of Meridian, Idaho has been the most consistent driver at the high-baked oval over the last eleven races scoring five wins and finishing in the top four in ten of those eleven races.

Jones, the 2011 RMCS champion may be the odds on favorite at RMR but there are several drivers looking to dethrone him including 2012 series champion Bruce Quale.

On Quale's bucklist is a win at RMR, something that has eluded him since he started racing in the series. "I love racing down there and have always been pretty good," Quale said. "Luck has not been on our side but we hope to change that this year."

Challenging Jones and Quale will be Cristiani. He and his family relocated to Meridian, Idaho from northern California over the winter and will contest the full RMCS schedule in 2013. He is off to a fast start after picking up the win at Magic Valley. "I enjoy the series," Cristiani said. "It is very competitive but a lot a fun at the same time. The win at Magic Valley was pretty cool, but we certainly have our work cut out for us at RMR."

Brian Levant out of Calgary, Canada is the track record holder in qualifying with a quick lap of 14.906 seconds around the fast oval. Up for grabs this weekend is a $400 bonus from Thompson Motorsports who will reward the Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award winner if they can go on to win the race. Since the RMCS inverts up to 20-cars for the feature, this award pays for performance on track. If the award is not claimed at RMR then it will roll over to the next event making the bonus worth $600.

A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning Rookie-of-the-Year leader Chris Fenton out of Boise will make his first visit to RMR this weekend providing a who new challenge for the young team. Fenton is a long-time veteran of local Late Model racing at Meridian (ID) Speedway but has stepped up to the RMCS this season. Joining Fenton in the rookie class is 16-year Hannah Newhouse driving the familiar #61 Thompson Motorsports entry.

Also joining the rookie class and making his first series start will be local competitor DJ Osborne. Osborne and crew have been working for more than a year in preparation for joining the series and will contest the remainder of the 2013 schedule. "We were so close to getting everything done to make the first race but just needed a few more laps behind the wheel to sort the car out," Osborne said. "I am excited to finally compete in the series and look forward to racing at RMR this weekend."

In the 30 previous races at RMR there have been 14 different race winners with eight drivers winning more than once led by Jones (5). Other multi-time winners include: James Eaton (4), Zan Sharp (3), Lynn Hardy (3), Dave Minegar (2), John Dillon (2), Jeff Hillock (2), and Eric Rhead (2).

Eibach Springs Inc. has joined the RMCs as an official contingency sponsor awarding the race winner with a $50 product certificate. At the conclusion of the race season, Eibach will reward the series champion with a full set of racing springs.

Mark your calendars for the first annual Century Motorsports & Marine Southern Idaho "200" June 13-15  at Magic Valley Speedway. The special non-points event will feature racers from across the west competing for over $35k in prize money making it the richest race in series history.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 14th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.

The series is supported by a great family of sponsors including: CarbonX, Century Boatland/Century Motorsports, Project Filter, Eibach Springs, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Sharp Powder Coating, Five Star Racing Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tires, Thompson Motorsports, Security Race Products, Frank's Radios, Longacre Racing Products, Performance Solutions, Kidd's Performance and Dyno, Joes Racing Products, PPG Paint, Circle Racing Wheels, DJS Sports Marketing, and Mike Minegar's Auto Body.

RMCS Opens at Magic Valley This Weekend

BOISE, ID (May 2, 2013)- The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series will open up its tenth season of competition this weekend at the Magic Valley Speedway located outside Twin Falls, Idaho. The race will be the first of five events on three race weekends for the popular Late Model touring series at MVS this season.

Bruce Quale 2012 RMCS Champion.

Bruce Quale of Twin Falls, Idaho is set to defend his 2012 series championship against long-time rival and 2011 champion Steve Jones and a host of other competitors who eye the top prize. Quale notes that repeating as champion may be more difficult then winning the first. "All eyes are on you every race," Quale said. "But at the same time a lot of the pressure is off. We have high expectations for the season but so does everyone else."

One of those drivers who is solely focused on the championship is Meridian Speedway icon and multi-time champion John Nesmith. Nesmith plans to attack the 2013 schedule with everything he has in pursuit of the series championship. He recently purchased a brand-new car for his title run and will team with and mentor up-and-coming racer Dennis Brodigan. "I had a lot fun racing last year and I still have the desire to race and win," Nesmith said. "When I retire from racing I do not want any regrets, so we are focused on winning races and the championship this season. I have always loved racing at Magic Valley; its a track that is technical and fun to drive."

16-yr old Hannah Newhouse joins the RMCS in the TMS #61 entry.
Making the move up to the RMCS this season is local fan favorite Hannah Newhouse. The 16-year old will contest the full schedule this season in hopes of claiming the A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning rookie title driving the familiar blue #61 Thompson Motorsports entry.

Returning the the series full-time in 2013 is James Wulfenstein out of Nevada. "Wulfy" as he is affectionately called is a former two-time champion at The Bullring and has started 27 career RMCS races.

Also making the long-tow this season is Bobby Hirschbock out of Northern California who will also battle for rookie-of-the-year honors driving for Tom Gable in the #15 Tire Factory car.

Other drivers expected on Saturday night include multi-time series winner Jonathon Gomez from Buhl, Tyler Bailey (2012 Rookie-of-the-Year), Trevor Cristiani, local driver Morgan Rasmussen, and Joe Miller out of Utah.

Returning to the series as a sponsor in 2013 is Thompson Motorsports. The local race shop supplies parts, fabrication, and technology to racers at all levels and will award $200 per race to a competitor who claims the Fast Time Award and goes on to win the race. Other sponsors returning this season offering special awards include CarbonX, Sharp Powder Coating, Century Motorsports & Marine, Longacre Racing Products, and A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning.

MVS has hosted 33 series events since 2004 with former racer Bobby Latham scoring four victories, Jonathon Gomez claiming three wins and 14 other drivers scoring at least one win each. Two-time champion Dave Minegar is the track record holder with a quick lap of 14.216 seconds/84.238 mph around the tricky 1/3-mile paved oval.
