Idaho Driver Sits Third in Points; Locked in Great Battle

JEROME, IDAHO (June 30, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, is heading to one of his favorite racetracks this weekend as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series hits the halfway mark of the season in the running of the Toyota Dealers of Southern California "200" presented by King Taco at the ultra-fast Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (CA) on Saturday night.

The annual Independence Day weekend clash brings together the rising stars of NASCAR from throughout the region at the marquee paved oval outside Los Angeles. The event is race seven of the 14-championship series and Toyota Speedway is a place that Thompson feels right at home.

In 14 previous starts on the high-speed half-mile oval, Thompson has five top five and nine top ten performances with his best finish of third three times. Last season, while running a limited schedule in the series, Thompson finished third in this race for his best result of the season.

"I really love the place," Thompson said. "Even though it is a short track, it races like a speedway producing some of the best side-by-side racing fans will see all season. While we have historically not been great qualifiers, we have always raced really well at Irwindale (Toyota Speedway) and we are really confident about our chances Saturday night."

Thompson is coming off a solid performance at Infineon Raceway last weekend that propelled him into third place in the championship standings just 64-points out of second place. "We are where we need to be at this stage of the season," Thompson offered. "Charlie Wilson (crew chief) and the rest of the team continue to make the right calls setting up the car and we have been consistent on track. We need to continue to finish races and we will stay in the thick of the points battle."

Even though Toyota Speedway races like a big track, it can bite you if you are not careful. "You can run just about anywhere you want to and that creates potential problems as everyone is fighting for positions everywhere on the track," Thompson said. "The trick is really managing your tires and having something left late in the race. You can't really lay back too much because guys will race you hard for position and you can behind really quickly."

"With 200-laps it is really two races," Thompson continued. "The first 100-laps is just about staying out of trouble and staying on the lead lap. The second 100-laps is all about racing and hopefully we are in a position to contend for the win."

Through six races this season, Thompson has shown that no matter where he has qualified he has made the most of track position late in the race finishing better than where he started in five of six races. His average starting position is 18.1 and his average finishing position is 10.8 with a best finish of third at Iowa among his West series counterparts.

In his NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 105 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 22 top five and 59 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009.

Thompson Disappointed at Infineon But Happy with Points Move

JEROME, IDAHO (June 27, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, left Infineon Raceway after the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Thunder Valley Casino Resort "200" with a damaged race car but optimism about the rest of the season.

Road course racing in the NKNPS is generally a mixed bag of emotions. You are either thrilled with the finish or disappointed in the result or somewhere in between. Thompson landed somewhere in the middle. After qualifying mid-pack, Thompson stopped early in the 64-lap event and worked his way up into the top ten only to get T-Boned in the right front as he exited the 90 degree turn seven on the back side of the course.

The contact forced the veteran competitor to the pits for repairs where he lost a lap in the process. The team realigned the toe the best they could and got him back out on track. Thompson would end up using the final third of the race as a test session for the upcoming road course event at Portland Int'l Raceway in late July, eventually getting back on the lead lap late and finishing in the 15th position.

"It definitely was not the day we wanted," Thompson said. "I am frustrated that we have a heavily damaged race car but I am happy that we gained points and moved up in the standings."

"I am just happy we did not lose a lot of points here and that is what can happen in the blink of an eye. I am really excited to get this race behind us and head to Irwindale (Toyota Speedway) which is one of my favorite tracks."

Thompson moved up one spot to fourth place in the point standings after six of 14-races this season. He is just 18-points out of third place and 61-points out of second place, but 276-points behind point leader Greg Pursley. Through six races this season Thompson has two top five and three top ten performances but more importantly, no DNF's.

"The way Greg (Pursley) and his team are running this season it will be difficult for anyone to catch him," Thompson said. "We are just focused on scoring the best finish we can at each race and we are heading to a track where we usually run really well."

Last season during a limited campaign, Thompson finished third in the July race at Irwindale for his best result of the season.

In his NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 105 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 22 top five and 59 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009.

Raudman Solid All Day in NASCAR K&N Pro Series Return

Redding, CA (June 27, 2011) Craig Raudman of Redding, CA was excited to return to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series this past weekend at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. That excitement propelled the Heritage Motor Sports team all weekend but they left with bittersweet disappointment after Raudman was involved in a last lap crash that dropped him from a sure top ten finish to a 16th place result after it was all said and done.

Raudman drove the #22 Approved Memory/Davidson Equipment Sales/Heritage Cattle Co. Chevrolet in the Thunder Valley Casino Resort sponsored event at the 1.99-mile road course for his first race back in the series as a driver in more than a decade. The plan was simple. Race the track and not worry about anybody else.

For most of the race that plan played out to perfection as the former NASCAR Southwest Tour champion let faster cars go when needed and did not fight for positions early, instead, focused on track position for late in the race. With less than five laps to go he was running seventh and just looking to bring the car home in one piece.

That all changed on the last lap when another competitor rooted his way by and sent a couple of cars spinning kicking up a dust storm that would make West Texas proud. The unfortunate thing for Raudman is that it left a wounded car directly in front of him but not visible through the dust. Race over.

"I thought we had played the strategy pretty well," Raudman said. "For not being in a K&N Series car for a long time, I felt really good; I could have gone fifty more laps. The crew was awesome and we just stayed out of trouble and took what the track gave us. We were in perfect position going up the hill on the last lap but it all went wrong in turn three. It happens and now we have a busted up race car that needs some work."

While the finish was not an indication of how well they actually ran, Raudman left Infineon on a high. "It is just awesome to drive race cars and I had a blast racing at Infineon," Raudman offered. "I am so thankful to Dave Reed and Ted Davidson for their support and to John Gomez for making this opportunity a reality. Blaine (Bergen, car chief) and I have a lot of work to do get this car back in shape but we will get it done."

For the past three seasons, Raudman has acted as crew chief and driver coach for Jonathon Gomez and has been a race winning crew chief in the series for the past seven years. The Heritage Motor Sports Team is available for rent to funded drivers. (See information below).

Raudman has started 20 races in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West (primarily 1996-2000) where he scored one top five finish along with seven career top ten performances. His best points finish was 13th after the 1998 season.

Craig Raudman is supported by Approved Memory, Davidson Equipment Sales, Heritage Cattle Company, and Century Boatland. Craig Raudman won the 2001 NASCAR Southwest Tour championship and has been a race winning crew chief in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series for the last five years. Tiger Racing and Wellendorf Performance Wowed the Crowd in Tulsa

Covina, California (24 June 2011) - Tiger Racing and Wellendorf Performance’s Paul Brown took a much needed break from the very competitive Pirelli World Challenge series in which they are leading both driver’s and team points in the GTS class. The team took the Lucas Oil/K&N Filter’s Mustang Boss 302S to the 37th Annual Mid America Ford and Team Shelby meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is one of the longest running Shelby Club and Ford meets in North America that includes two days of open track running at Hallett Motor Raceway, drag racing at Tulsa Raceway Park and wraps up the weekend with a car show at the Southern Hills Marriott.

Planning on having as much fun as possible over the weekend, the team added a passenger seat to the Boss race car and Paul spent two days ripping around the track with one victim after another buckled into the cockpit next to him. Frightening the tourists wasn’t the only agenda though. Both Baer Brakes and Tremec Transmission are team sponsors and sponsored the event, so Brown thought it would be fun to show off their products in front of everyone.

Tremec’s T56 Magnum direct shift transmission will be released this fall. After testing it on track, Brown said, “With the shifter now built into the tail shaft, it has a much more precise shift pattern and feel. We ran the crap out of the transmission as well as beating on Baer Brakes’ new GA4 caliper designed for World Challenge and Grand-Am competition.” He later added, “This Mustang Boss 302S was flawless. Between giving rides, testing new components, beating up Pirelli’s new race tires and even putting on a show during the exhibition race, I had a blast!”

After the track events ended, the team took the opportunity to move the #50 Boss 302S race car into the lobby of the Marriott. That car on display, front and center, was striking, but to double the impact, a second car was added. The team has been racing the Boss 302S prototype thus far in the Pirelli World Challenge Series and now, Wellendorf Performance has taken delivery of the first production Boss 302S to roll out the doors from Ford Motor Comany, just in time to make it’s presence known at this exciting event.

Special thanks to the entire Mid America event staff, as well as our sponsors and supporters, Lucas Oil, K&N Engineering, Wellendorf Performance, Ford Racing, Baer Brakes, Tremec Transmission, ERP/JRZ dampers, Eibach Springs, BBS, Pirelli, Moroso, Hawk Performance, Bassani Xhaust, Kenny Brown Performance, G-Stream, Optima Batteries and McCarthy’s One Hour Heating & Air.

Impatient Driver Ends McDougald's Season Early

Tacoma, Washington – 6-27-11 – For "Terrible" Tim McDougald, driver of the #68 KMB Design /

Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry, the 2011

season came to an abrupt end Saturday night at Evergreen Speedway as a fellow

competitor caused a wreck that would destroy McDougald's car, and his season.

After starting the first of the Twin-50 Main Events from the back of the field,

McDougald spent the race keeping his car out of trouble, staying out of the leader's way

and trying to earn some respect from his fellow drivers. Problems with the car added to a

rough first race, but "Terrible" Tim would keep pushing to make it to his first checkered

flag of the year. "We had some problems in the first race. The car was really tight, I mean

really tight," said "McDougald. "And then the rack came loose, so it was moving around

under there. Instead of the wheels turning, the rack was moving. So you had to put a lot

more wheel into it. Then somewhere in there my radio died so I had no spotter for the

second half of the race. I just picked a lane and stayed there and let them go around me. It

worked out."

Back in the pits, the crew went to work on the car to get it ready for the second

Main Event, another 50 lap run. McDougald was listed starting on the front row but

chose to go to the back instead. "I just didn't feel like we belonged up there," said

McDougald. "I hoped the other drivers would appreciate me getting out of the way, we

weren't that fast and I felt like we could cause a wreck pretty quick if I stayed there. I'd

rather let them race for it and come back when I'm better prepared. There should be other

opportunities for me to be up there when I'm faster."

Again, starting in the back, "Terrible" Tim spent most of the race keeping his #68

KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota

Camry out of trouble and letting the leaders have the lane. But all that would come to an

end with only 3 laps to go as another driver forced the issue while lapping McDougald,

causing a multiple car spin that would destroy two of the cars involved, McDougald's

being one of them. "I don't know what happened there. Fred Hall, in the 6 car, just

straight up wrecked us," said McDougald. "I've never seen anything like that. I had left

the high side all day; my spotter was telling me 'the 20 is outside, the 6 is coming with

him' and then all of a sudden the 6 was in my driver's door. I don't know what he was

thinking. I ran down the straight in the low groove the whole way, I set it in on the

bottom going into turn one and he just launched off the 3/8 and landed in my door. From

there it was all over, there was nothing you could do. I hate it for Andy, in the 20 car, he

had a great day going and we took him with us since he was on our outside. I just can't

believe Fred would drive like that. I was nice to him all day, leaving him a line, and he

paid me back by destroying my car. He really showed me what kind of person he is right

there."

Minegar Magnificent in Return to Action at Meridian Speedway

MERIDIAN, IDAHO (June 25, 2011) For Dave Minegar of Boise, ID, the last two seasons have been forgettable. Saturday night at Meridian Speedway will go down as a memorable race for the former two-time series champion as he returned to action in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series making his first start of the season and scored an emotional victory in front of family and friends.

The triumph was Minegar's seventh career victory (tied for first all-time) in his 60th career series start. The win also put him atop the Meridian Speedway stat sheet becoming the only two-time series winner at the historic 1/4-mile paved oval in ten events.

Minegar qualified his A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Chevrolet fifth quick putting him 9th on the grid to start the 100-lap NAPA Auto Parts Treasure Valley "100". Over the opening laps he took it easy and blew some of the rust off since he had not been in the race car for more than nine months.

By lap 25 he had made it into the top five and by lap 35 he made the pass for the lead and never looked back. Finishing second was Thane Alderman from Las Vegas, NV who has suffered through his worst year in his 25-year racing career. Alderman briefly led the race early on but fell back to fifth in the middle portion of the race before making a late charge back to the front.

Rounding out the top five finishers were Rick Fowble of Twin Falls, ID who had his best career series finish, Dan Rhodes of Olympia , WA, and rookie driver Tyler Bailey of Meridian.

Jeff Hillock of Cedar Hills, UT was the point leader by 31-points. But a hard crash during qualifying meant his crew had to work non-stop right up until the start of the race to get his car back together. Hillock finished ninth and ahead of championship rival and defending series champion Steve Jones.

But Jones managed to shave two-points off the margin despite his finish and only trails Hillock by 29-points heading into the next race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in SLC, UT July 9. Zan Sharp maintains the third position in the standings 24-points behind Jones while Bruce Quale moved up one position to fourth after a sixth place finish Saturday night. Lynn Hardy drops to fifth place after his night ended early due to an accident.

Devin LaHorgue drives from Redding, CA to compete with the RMCS and he had his best run going in three starts as he had moved up to second place dogging Minegar over the final 25 circuits. Jubilation turned to frustration for the youngster as the rear-end in his Chevrolet gave out on the final lap dropping him to an 11th place finish.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts the full starting field putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start the race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race. Century Boatland in Twin Falls is a major sponsor to the series providing significant support to the series all season.

The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series is a regional touring series that allows all competitors to race and gain experience on different types of racetracks. Thompson Hopeful for Infineon Success

JEROME, IDAHO (June 23, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, feels he has a great shot this weekend at Infineon Raceway when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series invades the wine country of Northern California for the Thunder Valley Casino Resort "200" on the twisting picturesque road racing facility.

The first road race of the season at Miller Motorsports Park back in April yielded a disappointing finish after the veteran competitor had worked his way into the lead late in the event. A broken panhard bar bracket sidelined his effort but not his optimism. "It is always tough to take when you have a great car and something breaks," Thompson said. "We fixed the issue and know we have a great shot this weekend."

Normally in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series qualifying is absolutely critical. Start up front and finish up front. At least that is the theory. In road racing, while qualifying is still important, where you start is not nearly as important. In his last visit to Infineon back in 2009, Thompson started 32nd and finished 13th.

"Charlie (Wilson, crew chief) has really been working long hours on the road course set ups and we know we have a really good race car," Thompson offered. "Qualifying is tough since you likely will not have others cars to gauge the speed as you enter corners. I have struggled in the past with turn one going up the hill. I brake to early and lose speed so that will be a focus for us during practice."

While a second Coors Pole Award would fit nicely on his mantel, it is a return trip to victory lane that has driven Thompson throughout his eleven year NASCAR K&N Pro Series career. "With all the really talented road course racers that compete in this event we know we are not just going to out run them," Thompson offered. "We kind of play it safe and ensure we don't over drive the car. You can pick up a lot of positions in the pits and the guys have worked tirelessly to ensure we are spot on."

"It is all about track position late in the race and we plan to be at or near the front. The road courses are a place where you can lose a lot of points in an instant or you can gain a lot of points. The big picture is the championship we can close the gap with a solid run."

Thompson currently sits fifth in the point standings after five of 14-races this season. He is just 15-points out of fourth, 29-points out of third, 33-points behind second, but 234-points behind point leader Greg Pursley.

"The way Greg (Pursley) and his team are running this season it will be difficult for anyone to catch him," Thompson said. "We can't worry about what others are doing or not doing; we simply focus on our program and scoring the best finish we can in each race and the points will take car of themselves."

In his NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 104 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 22 top five and 59 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009.

Former NASCAR Champion Back with Approved Memory and Davidson Equipment Sales

Redding, CA (June 22, 2011) Craig Raudman of Redding, CA is excited to return to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series this weekend at the picturesque road course of Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA June 24-25. John Gomez, owner of Heritage Motor Sports, announced that work commitments would prevent Jonathon Gomez from competing in several upcoming races, so he opted to rent out the team the rest of the season. Dave Reed and Ted Davidson quickly put a deal together with Gomez for Raudman to pilot the #22 Approved Memory/Davidson Equipment Sales/Heritage Cattle Co. Chevrolet in the Thunder Valley Casino Resort sponsored event at the 1.99-mile road course on Saturday.

For the past three seasons, Raudman has acted as crew chief and driver coach for Jonathon Gomez and the opportunity to get back behind the wheel was just too good to pass up. Though it has been more than a decade since the former NASCAR Southwest Tour champion has driven in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, Infineon is a track where he had his best career finish.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of a K&N Pro Series car," Raudman said. "I am really looking forward to racing at Infineon. It is a fun place to race and as challenging a track as there is anywhere. You flat have to be good and make no mistakes."

While Raudman is thankful for the opportunity, he knows this is a team effort. "Blaine Bergen (Car Chief) has been amazing getting this car together," Raudman offered. "He works none-stop every day of the week and his commitment to the team puts us in a position where we feel we can win and perform at a high level. He has been the go to guy the last two years."

Longtime sponsors and friends of Raudman are also the cornerstone of this effort. "Dave (Reed, owner of Approved Memory) and I are really best friends and I would never go racing without him," Raudman said. "With Dave and Ted (Davidson, owner of Davidson Equipment Sales) putting this deal together with John and giving me this opportunity it is really special."

Raudman had his best career NKNPS finish at Infineon back in 1997 when he finished fourth after leading most of the race before mechanical gremlins surfaced in the closing laps. He also won at Infineon in the old NASCAR Southwest Tour back in 1997.

Raudman has started 19 races in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West from 1996-2000 where he scored one top five finish along with seven career top ten performances.

I-5 CORRIDOR SERIES COMES TO PGP THIS WEEKEND FOR RACES 3 AND 4

KENT, Wash. — (June 22, 2011) The I-5 Corridor Series shifts to PGP Motorsports Park this weekend, with the top kart racers in the Pacific Northwest expected to take part in Races 3 and 4 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The next two rounds of the Stars of PGP Kart Series, which includes a rental kart class, will be held in conjunction with the I-5 Series.

For competitors in both series staying off-site, you will want to stick around after the racing is done on Saturday as we’ll have Audi Expo cars on display, a live band, food vendors and a beer/wine bar.

Jointly hosted by PGP and Pat’s Acres Racing Complex (PARC) in Canby, Ore., the I-5 Corridor Series follows a race weekend format and uses the popular SKUSA stock Honda class structure to help prepare racers for this year’s SKUSA's ProMoto Tour and the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas this November.

This season the series will be an official Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Series, qualifying participants for the 2011 U.S. Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals to be held July 19-23 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooelle, Utah. The series will adhere to the Rotax Max Challenge Series structure from top to bottom, using accredited officials and running specified RMC-length heats and mains.

The opening two rounds of the eight-race series were held at PARC on May 28-29. For race recaps, points, photos, rules and schedules — everything you need to know about the I-5 Series — visit www.I5corridorseries.com.

NAPA Auto Parts Welcomes the RMCS Back to Meridian Speedway

MERIDIAN, IDAHO (June 22, 2011) The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series returns to Meridian (ID) Speedway Saturday night for round five of the championship series and their only stop at the tricky quarter-mile paved oval this season. The series known for its full field invert will stage the 10th series event at the historic racetrack that has no repeat series winners in nine previous races.

The local area NAPA Auto Parts store owners, employees and customers from throughout the Treasure Valley and the central mountains have all come together to bring the NAPA Treasure Valley 100 back to Meridian Speedway. "All our 15 local area stores, including Council, McCall, Eagle, Emmett, Parma, Mountain Home, Nampa, Caldwell, Homedale, Marsing, Boise, Kuna and Meridian all have contributed to make the NAPA Treasure Valley 100 one of the best shows of the season", stated Mark Keas, President of MDI Marketing. "Fans are encouraged to take advantage of an additional $2.00 off on-line discount coupon codes that are available exclusively at these participating NAPA stores."

Jeff Hillock of Cedar Hills, UT enters the event leading the point standings by 31-points over Steve Jones of Meridian. Jones is the defending series champion and makes his home in Meridian but has only been an occasional competitor at the speedway over the years. Through four races, Hillock has one win, three top five and all four finishes in the top ten while Jones has one finish outside the top ten after a distributor broke in the opening event this season.

Several long-tow participants continue to support this series. Thane Alderman out of Las Vegas, NV has been a regular on the series for the past four seasons and picked his third career series victory here at Meridian Speedway last September. Alderman is currently mired down in 12th place in the standings after several mechanical issues this year.

Devin Lahorgue from Redding, CA will also visit Meridian Speedway for the first time this weekend and is currently outside the top ten in the 13th position. Dan Rhodes out of Olympia, WA returns the series this weekend after picking up the victory June 11 down at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls. The start this weekend will be Rhodes' third start in the series.

Former Meridian Speedway competitor Dylan Caldwell returns town this weekend from his new home in North Carolina. Caldwell was a regular in the RMCS the past two seasons and a former track competitor at Meridian Speedway.

Former two-time series champion Dave Minegar of Boise will also return to the series this weekend making his first start of the season. Minegar, will make his 60th career series start piloting the #99 Minegar Racing Chevrolet. Minegar is also the track record holder at Meridian Speedway with a quick lap of 13.145 seconds and leads the series with 23 career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. Minegar also has six career wins along with 23 top five and 43 top ten performances.

Craig Bell out of Kuna who cut his racing teeth at Meridian Speedway will also be back in action after a long layoff. Bell will be driving the #25 normally driven by Lonnie Lowder. Bell is a former Meridian Speedway winner in RMCS action and has 33 top five and 43 top ten performances to go along with five series victories.

Previous series winners at Meridian Speedway include Thane Alderman, Brett Thompson, Craig Bell, Jeff Jefferson, Tyler Monroe, Tom Hill, Chad Cannon, Zan Sharp and Dave Minegar who picked up the first series victory at Meridian back in 2005.

While Jeff Hillock and Steve Jones battle for the top spot in the standings, Zan Sharp, who is also a two-time series champion, has moved into the third position 39-points behind Jones with Lynn Hardy and Bruce Quale rounding out the top five. John Wong from Parma sits sixth in the standings followed by Eric Rhead, Jim Wulfenstein, Lonnie Lowder, and John Newhouse rounding out the top ten. Local Meridian star John Nesmith sits 11th in the standings just one point out of tenth.

Engineered Structures Inc (ESI) based in Meridian has again sponsored the ESI Lap Leader Award paying $5 per green flag lap led to all competitors this season. Through four races, Jeff Hillock holds the top spot with 97 laps led followed by Lynn Hardy (67), John Newhouse (65), Dan Rhodes (39), and Steve Jones rounding out the top five (35). In total, there have been 14 different lap leaders this season.

Devin Lahorgue out of Redding, CA leads the A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Rookie of the Year standings by one point over Meridian's Tyler Bailey.

The RMCS action gets underway at 5:30 MT with qualifying along with a whole host of local racing action featuring several racing divisions. With series regulars geared to get on track and battle for the championship, series icons returning to the series, new faces highlighting the action this season, and a host of local competitors on hand, the the NAPA Auto Parts Treasure Valley "100" is expected to be one of the best and highly competitive racing events of the season.

It is a high-quality professional racing series that offers maximum opportunity at an affordable price serving the intermountain West. The motto of the series is to “Race Hard and Have Fun!” For all the latest news and information regarding the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series log on to our website at http://www.rmcsracing.com/  .

Caddell Bounces Back Strong at Legendary Crandon Off Road Track

After a disappointing result at the opening weekend of the Traxxas TORC series, Andrew Caddell and his Jenkins Brothers Racing team redoubled their already strong efforts and worked nonstop including 2 long, hard days of testing at the Crandon, WI facility to make the Traxxas Mopar Ram PRO Light truck ready for race wins and the all-important 2011 TORC PRO Light championship.

“The team made a bunch of changes and got the truck handling much better in between rounds 2 and 3” said Caddell. “We were close at Red Bud but just a little off where we wanted to be, combine that with the rollover in round 2 and we knew we had dug ourselves into a deep hole but this team stuck together and just went to work and I am so proud of them!”

After the rough opening weekend, Caddell was looking forward to getting back on the top of his game at a track that he had won in 2010 and had 3 Traxxas Maxx lap awards (races fastest lap) in 4 races.

The Crandon race weekend opened with a Friday practice that showed all the teams hard work was worth the effort as Andrew was fastest by over a half a second. Then later that day qualifying proved to be a little more difficult with some muddy conditions that saw the #43 PRO Light finish that session in 3rd position. “That is a disappointment to be sure” said Caddell. “But the conditions caught me off a little but starting 3rd here is not too bad with the land rush start so I think we are still in a good position for the race.”

After a discussion following qualifying and some concerns from Caddell regarding a feeling that the truck was laboring and just felt a little slow to him in certain areas of the track during qualifying, the team decided to replace the transmission and torque converter. “During our test here last week, we had a rock put a hole into the transmission oil cooler and we ran it a little low on fluid” remarked Caddell. “So after talking about it with the crew we decided to replace them.”

“We will not accept anything but 100% preparation for any of our trucks” commented JBR Team Manager, Ken Kincaid. “When Andrew commented on the odd feel of the truck, the crew worked until nearly midnight on Friday night after most teams had left the track to make sure we were ready for the race on Saturday and the crews hard work paid off.”

Andrew gridded in the 3rd position for famed land rush start and when the green flag fell, he jumped out to a good start but fell back going into turn one when a fellow competitor lost control in the freshly watered track and spun right in front of a full field of screaming PRO Light race trucks!

One truck hit him first and then even though Andrew did everything he could to miss him, he also got a small piece of the following truck. “I thought for just a second that I might make it through without damage but there were trucks everywhere!” said Caddell. “I barely clipped polesitter and fellow Traxxas driver CJ Greaves in his left rear as he hit somebody else.”

One driver did flip and end up stuck on the retaining wall/fence so the TORC officials had to red flag the race and a complete re-start was ordered as per the rule book.

Andrew’s truck however did sustain some damage in the contact and the rules state that nothing mechanical can be worked on buy the crew during the red flag. The JBR crew was able to see that a valve on the right front shock absorber reservoir was broken and would need to be replaced before the truck could be raced again. When the officials gave the OK and the red flag was replaced by a yellow flag, the crew went to work and got the truck repaired just in time for Caddell to join the field in his original starting spot for the second attempt at a start.

With the green flag, Caddell again got a great start and this time held it all the way into and through the high speed turn 1 with teammate Samuel Hübinette following close in second. Caddell quickly began building a lead that got wider with Hübinette starting to struggle with brake issues early in the event. Caddell kept driving as hard as possible and that built him a large lead by the TORC competition caution. Caddell got a great restart and had a 2 truck length lead by the first turn, quickly getting the truck up to full speed to pull away for his first win and second podium in a row.

"What a great day," exclaimed Caddell. "I knew we had a great truck, the BF Goodrich tires were perfect for the changing conditions today and even with the crash damage and fast repair on the King Racing Shocks, they still worked great and we still had a truck that out handled all the rest and it is fantastic to get our first win in the fight against childhood cancer with St. Jude Hospital’s Hospital, visit www.traxxas-stjudes.com to help in our race to win the race against cancer.

“The team made a bunch of changes before the race even with the truck already being fast, that's what is so good about this team is we don't settle” continued Caddell “we are always looking to get more out of the truck. I really can't wait to get to Charlotte and go for more wins!"

Crandon’s Round 4 on Sunday was cancelled due to torrential rain that saw the front straight flooded with no way to prepare it so even the hardy off road racers could race! In fact the only vehicles spotted on the track Sunday were Traxxas remote controlled boats running up the front straight!

Next up for Andrew Caddell, Jenkins Brothers Racing, and the rest of the TORC racers is July 22-23 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the heart of NASCAR country.

Other strides include Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (7% survival in 1962; 85% today) and brain tumors (10% in 1962; 85% today). HWR Ready To Try Evergreen Again

Tacoma, Washington – 6-20-2011 – After the less than satisfying outing during the month of May, the HayWire Racing team are set to return to Evergreen Speedway Saturday, June 25th as both Tommy Rasmussen and "Terrible" Tim McDougald will try the big 5/8mile oval once again.

Race one of the "Big West" races saw "Terrible" Tim and his #68 KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry end his night early after a spin and hard contact with the wall very early on. Tommy Rasmussen, driving the #92 Mo-Dane Trucking / RPM Sales & Service / Vital Signs Chevrolet Impala suffered a suspension failure in the first Main Event and then fought a loose setup in the second Main Event, holding on for the team's first top-10 of the year.

Back at the shop, the team set to work repairing the damaged suspension on the #92 Mo-Dane Trucking / RPM Sales & Service / Vital Signs Chevrolet Impala and making a few small changes to the setup in preparation for the next scheduled event. In the next stall over, the #68 KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry was undergoing its own repair process. With heavy damage to the front suspension and some damage to the frame, this car would take a bit longer. But the small family team would work through it all, getting both cars ready with plenty of time to spare.

With all the work done on the cars, both drivers are looking forward to getting back to the track and building on Tommy's top-10. Look for both cars to begin moving to the front this Saturday, June 25th at Evergreen Speedway, "The Super Speedway of the West"!

CINDI LUX TAKES PODIUM FINISH IN ROSE CUP RACE

PORTLAND, June 21, 2011 - Aloha's Cindi Lux added yet another accolade to her already stellar motorsports resume on Sunday. The 12-time, road racing champion earned her first career podium with a third-place finish in the 51st Annual Rose Cup Race at Portland International Raceway (PIR). In the process of setting her personal-best in the Rose Cup, Lux, driving the No. 4 Black Rock Coffee Bar-Lux Performance Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, also made event history. The daughter of the inaugural winner of the race, Dick Hahn, became the first woman in the 51-year history of the Rose Cup to finish on the podium.

Lux, who had previously won her class at Rose Cup support races but never finished better than fourth in the main event, drove a spectacular race to overcome a substantial horsepower disadvantage. Starting fifth against the unrestricted, high-power competition, the 2003 Oregon SCCA National Driver of the Year never placed a wheel wrong during the 45-minute race. She fought her way into third-place before lap 20 when the first, full-course caution bunched the field. With such a massive power disparity, the Viper fell to fourth nearing the restart. However, the pass came while still under caution and race officials swapped the order. With the precise setup placed under her by husband/crew chief Fred Lux, the former Dodge and Mopar factory driver was able to hold-off the subsequent, unassisted assault. Lux kept third until the checkered flag fell.

Cindi Lux became the first woman in Rose Cup history to earn a podium.
Shown in the Black Rock Coffee Bar-Lux Performance Dodge Viper Comp. Coupe on the grid.

Despite always downplaying her place in the progress and success of women in motorsports, the 75-time race winner is credited with several major milestones for females race drivers. Lux bettered over 150 other drivers to win the inaugural American Le Mans Series' Women's Global GT Series championship in 1999. She was named the 1999 Pro-Driver SCCA Driver-of-the-Year and was presented the Northwest Pat Piggot Memorial Award for the most outstanding driver in 1992. She also became only the second woman in history to win the prestigious SCCA June Sprints in 2004 and repeated the feat in 2006.

The Rose Cup weekend at PIR, which supports the annual Rose Festival, was the debut of Black Rock Coffee Bar into the world of motorsports marketing. By all accounts, the relationship with Lux Performance Group was a resounding success for all concerned. Black Rock Coffee Bar, a Portland-area franchise which features premium-blend coffees sold via an easy drive-thru format, embraced the event using its social media platform, eight-area locations and a concentrated on-site program to maximize its partnership with Lux. The tie-in helped bring guests to Black Rock locations across Oregon, Washington and California as well as introduced the product to hundreds of track workers and spectators at PIR.

In addition to the Dodge Viper entered for Cindi Lux, Lux Performance Group also prepared and managed the Pirelli Cup entry for driver Steve Streimer. Streimer scored his personal career best in the one-make Porsche 911 GT3 Cup series race finishing second. The success of the weekend was not only a testimony to the driver's efforts, but to Lux Performance Group's preparation of the German car and the coaching ability of Cindi Lux who has been instructing Streimer for four years.

Quotes
Cindi Lux: "I don't think I could have driven my Black Rock Coffee Bar Viper Comp. Coupe any harder in this race! I asked 110% of out of the race car for 45 minutes and she held up like a champ. I cannot speak enough about the quality prep that comes from our guys on the Lux Performance team. They gave me the best race car I have driven in a long time; it was on rails. Finishing third is respectable but only gets me fired-up to climb the final two steps in future years. I am never satisfied and always pushing myself to do better. That is especially true here, in front of my hometown crowd! Having Black Rock Coffee Bar on board this weekend was pretty cool. It kept me personally 'fueled' up and ready to attack. Overall a great weekend."

About racing her home track: "Racing in my hometown is always significant to me and I really try to juggle my crazy schedule to allow me a few days off to race the Rose Cup each year. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the Portland fans at the track. I have gotten to know so many of the fans over the years of coming here it's like coming to a family reunion. This race carries so much personal importance to me. I want to go out there and do my best for my family, for Black Rock and for the city! This is going to be like a giant shot of Black Rock espresso!"

Former NASCAR Champion Exchanges Wrenches for the Wheel

Redding, CA (June 17, 2011) Craig Raudman of Redding, CA will return to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series driver's seat when the series visits the picturesque road course of Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA June 24-25. Raudman has been working as a crew chief in the series for much of the past five years but will exchange wrenches for driving gloves and pilot the #22 Approved Memory/Davidson Equipment Sales/Heritage Cattle Co. Chevrolet in the Thunder Valley Casino Resort sponsored event at the 1.99-mile road course layout.

For the past three seasons, Raudman has acted as crew chief and driver coach for Jonathon Gomez but business commitments will prevent Gomez from making several of the remaining races on the schedule, so Raudman and his old car owner Dave Reed along with Ted Davidson were able to put a deal together with John Gomez to field the #22 car at Infineon.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of a K&N Pro Series car," Raudman said. "Working as a crew chief has been a lot of fun but there is nothing like driving. I can't think of a better place to get back behind the wheel then at Infineon. I love the track and have had success there in the past."

Raudman had his best career NKNPS finish at Infineon back in 1997 when he finished fourth after leading most of the race before his battery died with just a few laps left to go. He also won at Infineon in the old NASCAR Southwest Tour back in 1997. Serving as crew chief for Raudman will be Ron Copeland who guided Gomez to the 2010 SRL Southwest Tour title and has worked on the Heritage NKNPS effort as the car chief the past two seasons. Dave Reed will continue as spotter, a role he has filled for much of Raudman's racing career.

John Gomez owns the Heritage Motor Sports team and is currently eighth in the owner's point standings for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Race rental opportunities exists for the remainder of the season. (see below)

Raudman has started 19 races in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West with is last start back in 2000. He has one top five finish along with seven career top ten performances.

"Terrible" Tim Attending 'Rally'

Tacoma, Washington –

June 14 – "Terrible" Tim McDougald and the #68 KMB Design / Hargis
Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry to be on display
during the "Racin' Rally" car show at the Imagine Children's Museum in Everett,
Washington on Sunday, June 19th.
With a little down time between race events, HayWire Motorsports driver
"Terrible" Tim will take some time to give back to the community, attending the annual
event at the Imagine Children's Museum. A great Father's Day event for both the children
and Dads, this event gives kids under 12 a chance to race their own rc car on an indoor
track, a chance to build a balloon powered race car and meet local drivers and see real
racecars up close.
"We attended this event last year and had a lot of fun," said "Terrible" Tim. "I like
seeing the smiles on the kid's faces and talking with the parents. It's a good way to come
out and meet the public, maybe make a few new fans and of course display my sponsors
to some people who may not have come to the track yet. And who knows, maybe seeing
the cars will give them some interest in coming out to the track for a race night. I know
before I started racing I was just a kid sitting in the stands too. One of these kids could be
the next Tony Stewart or Dale Jr. or maybe even the next 'me'."
Be sure to stop by the Imagine Children's Museum in Everett, Washington to
check out all the fun action taking place. While you are there, check out the #68 KMB
Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry
and meet "Terrible" Tim McDougald as he will be signing autographs and taking pictures
along side a few of his fellow racers.

LARGE FIELD OF RIDERS HIT THE DIRT IN ROUND 2 OF PGP’S SUPERMOTO SERIES

KENT, Wash. — (June 14, 2011) With a great turnout of riders looking to get some air at PGP for the first time this season, there was plenty of action at the region’s top racing venue during the second round of the Stars of PGP SuperMoto Series on Saturday, June 11.

An impressive 85 entries in three different classes showed SuperMoto is alive and well in the region and each of those riders battled for every position around PGP’s .82-mile state-of-the-art asphalt track and over the dirt section.

“In a sport that is seeing diminishing entries throughout the country, it is safe to say SuperMoto is alive and well in the Northwest, and in fact seems to be flourishing,” said PGP owner Paul Zalud, a longtime bike racer. “This is in no small part due to the support and enthusiasm of a vast array of riders and fans in this region who have taken an active role in keeping this motorsport discipline alive and kicking.”

Fans of the sport won’t have long to wait for the next exciting event in PGP’s SuperMoto series. Round 3 is slated for Saturday, July 16, with an exclusive practice session scheduled for the day before. Doing well in Round 3 is critical as it will be the final opportunity for riders to prepare themselves for the big National Event coming up in August.

Open Amateur

The Open Amateur class was dominated by three riders all day — Paul Lammer, Mitchell Rose and Jesse Elliott — although the order they crossed the line in each event swapped from lap to lap. In qualifying, Lammer gave an early indication of his intent to be a factor with a convincing pole position, but when the green dropped for the pre-final, it was No. 2 qualifier Rose out front and in command. No. 3 qualifier Rose finished third.

In the final Lammer struck back at Rose and with a slightly faster pace he was able to hold on for the win. Rose finished second and Elliott recovered from going down early to apply pressure to the top two en route to another third-place result.

Unlimited

Ryan Pugh took command of the Unlimited in qualifying with a solid pole position, but then elected to start from the rear of the field in the pre-final. Joining him there was Dave Kemp, a late entry in the class but a quick rider in his own right. Kemp followed Pugh up the ranks during the pre-final and the two finished 1-2. In the final Pugh and Kemp were once again the riders to beat, finishing 1-2 again respectively. Joining Pugh and Kemp at the sharp end was Rick Engstrom, the No. 2 qualifier who secured the final podium spot after a great battled with both Gary Pugh and Paul Zalud.

250/450

The 250s and 450s ran together as is the norm at PGP, with several of the 250 riders taking the fight to their higher horsepower competitors. Ryan Pugh took another pole position in qualifying but it was the third overall time of 250-rider Dylan Ferreira that was most impressive as he out-qualified many 450s in the process. Ferreira has been plagued with mechanical issues all year long, however, and Round 2 would be no different as he dropped out of the pre-final before the finish.

In the final Ryan Pugh took the win over Kemp with Mitchell Rose third, but it was the 250 class that garnered the most attention when Jim Martin Suzuki began to blaze in Turn 1. Going down in turn one, sparks caught Martin’s bike on fire, the flame burning for only a few seconds before quickly being extinguished by track officials. Thankfully Martin was unhurt, and to his surprise and relief, virtually no damage was done to the bike. With attrition taking its toll on the 250 class, Matt McDonald cruised to victory over Blake Deilke, the only two riders to make it to the checkers.

35+ Veteran

The 35+ Veteran class had what was arguably the event’s best fight for the win with Gary Pugh battling Paul Zalud in the closing laps of the final en route to the victory. The two began their contest of wills in qualifying with Gary Pugh taking the pole by just over a quarter-second over Zalud. Pugh took the win in the pre-final while Zalud and No. 3 qualifier Lammer took part in a “Battle of The Pauls” for second behind him that was won by Lammer.

In the final Zalud took the fight to Lammer and then Pugh, first dispatching his rival from the pre-final for second and then reeling in Pugh to fight for the win in the final laps. Zalud came up short in the end, settling for second, while Lammer and Sam Rohrer battled for the final podium spot. This time it was Rohrer who found the advantage, and with it the third step on the podium.

PGP ‘Cash Class’

The Open Money Class, which offers a payout to 50 percent of the field, debuted in the opening round and that was one of the craziest SuperMoto races ever seen at PGP. With six riders this time it was more of a straight-forward display of skill by both Ryan Pugh and Kemp, the two riders breaking away from the pack and putting in the best laps of the day. In the final, PGP highlighted Ryan Pugh for the final two laps during the online broadcast, following the rider through every part of the course to show off what it takes to get the most out of PGP’s track.

Lammer finished in the third and final payout spot but it was the fight for fourth that was the most entertaining. Despite being outside of the money, both Jesse Elliott and Dylan Ferreira fought back and forth, with Elliott nursing an injured leg and Ferreira atop a borrowed 450. They both rode superbly but it was Ferreira who prevailed, with Elliott in fifth and Brian Coleman sixth.

Competitor From Washington State has Magical Night

BOISE, IDAHO (June 13, 2011) The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series returned to Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho this past Saturday night for round four of the championship series and it was Dan Rhodes making the long tow from western Washington picking up his first series victory. Cris Muhler out of Colorado making his first series start came home in the second position followed by John Nesmith, Steve Jones, and Jeff Hillock.

Defending series champion Steve Jones laid down the fastest lap in qualifying with a quick lap of 14.482 seconds/82.779 mph. Current point lead Jeff Hillock was second quick followed by Zan Sharp, Bruce Quale, and Devin Lahorgue out of Redding, CA. Heat race winners included Jim Wulfenstein, Eric Rhead, and Cris Mulhler.

The customary series invert put Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award winner Jones at the tail of the field and Rick Fowble on the point to start the 100-lap race. Fowble held the top spot for the first two circuits before 2007 series champion John Newhouse grabbed the lead.

Newhouse led the field through lap 17 when he lost the top spot to Cris Muhler who moved up from his fourth starting position to lead two laps. Newhouse fought back and retook the lead on lap 20 and led through lap 37. Dan Rhodes then made his first appearance at the front of the field on lap 38 but quickly lost the lead to Steve Jones who made his way up from the tail on lap 39.

Jones quickly built a two second lead on Rhodes who started seventh. Several cautions bunched the field up but Jones was able to keep his lead intact while negotiating lapped traffic. Jones had it going his way in the race until lap 62 when he slid high allowing the train to speed by on the bottom groove. Rhodes then took command of the race and cruised to victory leading the final 37-laps.

"Those cautions at the end were tough", Rhodes said. "My car took a couple of laps to hook up and get going but it sure feels great to win in this series. This is a tough series with a lot of great drivers and winning is certainly no easy deal."

Finishing second was Cris Muhler out of Colorado followed by John Nesmith who collected his best finish of the year. Steve Jones battled back to finish fourth while series point leader Jeff Hillock rounded out the top five finishers. Zan Sharp had a gritty performance to finish sixth after breaking several ribs last month in a recreational vehicle accident. Lynn Hardy kept his championship hopes alive with a seventh place performance with Devin Lahorgue finishing in the eighth position. John Wong and Rick Fowble rounded out the top ten.

With his fifth place finish, Jeff Hilock maintains the point lead by 31-points over Steve Jones (who shaved 13-points off Hillock's lead). Zan Sharp moves up one position to third in the standings 39-points behind Jones with Lynn Hardy in fourth place and Bruce Quale rounding out the top five. John Wong sits sixth in the standings followed by Eric Rhead, Jim Wulfenstein, Lonnie Lowder and John Newhouse.

Steve Jones was the top point earner for the event (196) with Jeff Hillock earning 183-points. Dan Rhodes scored 180-points with John Nesmith earning 179-points to Zan Sharp's 172-points. The RMCS pays its purse based on total event point accumulation. Five states were represented in the race.

The next event on the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series schedule is Saturday June 25 at Meridian (ID) Speedway. Brett Thompson won last year's event while two-time series champion Dave Minegar is the track record holder at the tricky quarter-mile paved oval. Minegar is expected to make his first start of the season at Meridian.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The top qualifiers are inverted for every race putting fast time at the rear of the field to start each race. Century Boatland in Twin Falls, ID is a major sponsor of the series providing significant event and point fund contributions.

The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series is a regional touring series that allows all competitors to race and gain experience on different types of racetracks. It is a high-quality professional racing series that offers maximum opportunity at an affordable price serving the intermountain West. The motto of the series is to “Race Hard and Have Fun!” For all the latest news and information regarding the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series log on to our website at www.rmcsracing.com .
