Luttmer Takes ASA Pro Truck Series Win at Magic Valley Speedway‏

TWIN FALLS, ID (Sunday, April 29, 2012) - Defending event winner Scott Luttmer proves he has not forgotten what it takes to win. After taking the checkered flag in the season opener in 2011 the winners circle, Luttmer had failed to find the winners circle again. After a sixth place Qualifying effort Luttmer started in the fourth starting position. By lap four Luttmer grabbed the lead away from Doug Dugger and never looked back.

It looked like Fast Qualifier and former Champion Jeff Pohlman would be the man to beat moving up to third place by lap seven. By lap thirteen Pohlman and defending Champion Jerry Rice had been battling hard. Contact between the two had been going on for several laps when the two got together and Dugger saw an opportunity to gain a position or two. As Dugger made the move he and Pohlman got together sending both trucks to the pits while bringing out the only caution in the forty lap main event. Pohlman was able to return remaining on the lead lap but suspension damage kept him from being the threat for the win in the remaining laps.

“We had a really good truck tonight it’s too bad it turned out the way it did. I hoped to put it in the winners circle for Johnny,” Pohlman was driving a truck for Johnny Newhouse, the truck is for sale and Newhouse felt Pohlman was a good choice to show the trucks ability. “I knew it was a good truck and Jeff was a good driver but when Hannah (Newhouse) had fast time and Jeff knocked her off the pole I felt really good about having both trucks one and two but had hoped Hannah would have had the fast time.”

Newhouse started at the rear next to Pohlman and the fifteen year old made a great run moving as high as second before the handling went away dropping her back to a fourth place finish. This is Newhouse’s first start in a truck in twenty twelve but her third at Magic Valley Speedway this season. In her Thompson Motorsports Super Stock Newhouse has already claimed a win and a third. This event givers her three top fives in as many events.
Defending Champion Jerry Rice finished second but not without a lot of pressure from Drew Reitsma. “If we just would have had another five or ten laps I think I could have gotten him” said Reitsma after the race.

Johnny Pierre rounded out the top five. “ I went low to avoid the Dugger Pohlman deal and we must have bent something in the suspension, we were really good just buying time and after dropping off the track it just didn’t handle the same”. Pierre was determined the winner of the “Cool Move of the Race” for is evasive actions missing the wreck in front of him. Pierre was presented with a $50 gift certificate to Ultra Cool Brake Fans. Brett Thompson Back in Action at Miller Motorsports Park

JEROME, IDAHO (April 26, 2012)- Brett Thompson returns to the drivers seat this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT in Grand Prix of Utah for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Last season, Thompson was one of the fastest cars on track and running at the front of the field until a broken suspension bracket forced him to pit for repairs.

A 12th place outing at Phoenix to start the season and an 8th place performance by Braden Havens has the #61 team in the 7th position in the current owners standings. The goal this weekend is to climb in the owners standings and a top five finish would go a long way in doing just that.

Thompson, a twelve year veteran of the series, has made 114 career starts making him one of the most experienced active drivers among his peers. And while road course racing challenges even the most savvy of veterans, Thompson enjoys the challenge. "I have had a few top ten runs on road courses," Thompson offered. "There are a lot of things that can happen and variables out of your control. Pit strategy seems to play a big part in the outcomes as you really need to be up front late in the race. It is just really hard to make up track position."

The 2.2-mile East layout at MMP offers a challenging circuit to navigate but a challenge Thompson is excited about. "Road racing is about you and the track," Thompson said. "If you get too caught up racing the other guys then that's when things can happen. Miller is an awesome facility and since it is close to home a lot of family and friend will be able to attend."

In his twelve year NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 114 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 23 top five and 63 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009. His best road course performance was a 3rd place effort at Portland (OR) Int'l Raceway.

RMCS Opens Up Ninth Season at Magic Valley Speedway This Saturday

BOISE, ID (April 19, 2012)- The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series will open up its ninth season of competition this Saturday night April 21 at the .333-mile paved oval of Magic Valley Speedway located
RMCS at MVS
RMCS in action at Magic Valley
outside Twin Falls, Idaho. The series features a 20-car invert that is unique among Late Model touring series' around the country and will make its 30th series visit to the popular Idaho racing oval.

CarbonX, the world leader in fire protective clothing, returns for the fifth season as title sponsor of the RMCS which will stage 11-races this season at three distinctive tracks within the region. Magic Valley Speedway will host four races including a big 200-lap event in August.

Local Twin Falls business Century Boatland is also back with the series for the third year providing significant event and series support all season long. Since 1985, Century Boatland has been the area headquarters for new and used recreational, pleasure, and fishing boats.

quale
#92 Bruce Quale
Local fan favorites Bruce Quale and Steve Jones lead a stout field of competitors seeking the 2012 series crown. Jones is looking to backup his 2010 championship while Quale is seeking his first series title. Both drivers are racing icons at Magic Valley Speedway with more than a dozen local championships between them. And while both drivers have had great success at MVS, winning in the RMCS has been a bigger challenge due to the format of the races.

Quale has one series win at MVS while Jones is searching for win number one. Since the series inverts the fast qualifiers and both drivers regularly qualify fast, they have always had their work cut out for them in the race. Quale has one win and 11-top five finishes while Jones has six top five finishes with a best performance of second at Magic Valley Speedway.

Another local driver who has had success at Magic Valley is John Newhouse. Newhouse is the 2007 series

champion and will only run a partial schedule this season as he supports his daughter's (Hannah) run for a NASCAR Whelen All American Series championship. Newhouse has two wins and 14 top five performances at MVS.

Former series competitor Bobby Latham III leads all drivers with four victories at MVS while two-time champion Dave Minegar has three wins along with 2009 titlist John Dillon. Six drivers (Jonathon Gomez, Zan Sharp, Tom Hill, John Newhouse, Brian Warf, and Jim Eaton) share two wins apiece while seven different drivers have one win each.

Some of the new faces joining the series this season include Steven Gannon and David Braun who will make the tow from the Redding, California area and Robert Rasmussen from Twin Falls. Familiar faces Travis Monett (Utah), Rick Fowble (Twin Falls), and Thane Alderman from Las Vegas are back for a full campaign, while Tyler Bailey joins the fold for all the events in Idaho.

bailey
Tyler Bailey in the Project Filter #99
Bailey's primary sponsor Project Filter is also joining the RMCS family of sponsors for 2012. Project Filter is Idaho's Tobacco Prevention and Control Program aimed at educating the public about the resources available to help individuals quit using tobacco.

Dave Minegar holds the track qualifying record at MVS with a quick lap 14.216 seconds/84.238 mph and leads all drivers with 23 career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. Sharp and Minegar share the most wins at seven apiece, while Newhouse is the active leader in career starts (63), laps completed (5741), top ten finishes (50) and top five finishes (34).

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.

The series is supported by a great family of sponsors including: CarbonX, Century Boatland, Project Filter, ESI, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Sharp Powder Coating, Five Star Racing Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tires, Frank's Radios, Performance Solutions, Kidd's Performance and Dyno, Joes Racing Products, PPG Paint, Circle Racing Wheels, and Mike Minegar's Auto Body.
The racing action gets underway at 6pm with qualifying with heat races and main event action to follow. Also on the racing card will be the Commercial Tire Super Stocks, Street Stocks, and Stingers. Tickets are $15 for adults or a family pack for $39 for two adults and four kids. For additional information log on to the track website at www.magicvalleyspeedway.com.

ASA SANCTIONED SKAGIT SPEEDWAY HAS GREAT MOMENTUM GOING INTO THE 2012 SEASON

Kevin Ramsell/ASA Racing PR
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Wednesday, April 11, 2012) – The off-season has been very busy for Steve Beitler and his staff at Skagit Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Alger, WA. At the beginning of 2012, Beitler was nominated for the Auto Racing Promoter of the Year. He also brought in some new staff members who are fitting in very well. These two things are a great momentum builder for the 2012 season.

“I’m excited about the 2012 season. Our car count looks like it is growing nicely in all classes, and our fans are very excited,” Beitler said. “We’ve added some new members to our speedway team and everyone has worked very hard this winter. I am looking forward to a great 2012 season.”

Skagit’s 2012 season opens on Saturday, April 21 at 7:00pm. They will kick off their 58th season of racing with 410 Sprints, 360 Sprints, Sportsman Sprints and Outlaw Hornets. The track is open for practice on Saturday, April 7 and Saturday, April 14.

Along with some new staff coming on board during the off-season, Skagit Speedway also made some major improvements to their pit area in order to accommodate more haulers. This past week, the staff was busy putting up billboards and power washing the grandstands.

Beitler also said that an advance ticket sale for their three major events is going well. Those three major events include the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup on June 14-16, 360 Nationals on July 27-28, and the World of Outlaws on August 31-September 1. Tickets are on sale now by calling 360-724-3567.

Skagit Speedway is also returning as an ASA Member Track for the 2012 season. “We’re happy to continue our association with ASA Racing,” Beitler exclaimed. “It has been a good relation for the race track and the racers.”

“We are very proud to have Skagit Speedway as part of our ASA Member Track program,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “Steve Beitler and his staff have done a great job with their exciting schedule and race program. Steve’s unique marketing approach is catching the attention of other promoters. For his efforts, he has been nominated for the Auto Racing Promoter of the Year two out of the last three years. Even his Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup has won awards at the RPM Workshops and WARPA convention. We wish them continued success in 2012.”

Lux Performance Tagged To Manage 3rd-Season Of SRT Viper Cup Celebrity Program

ALOHA, Ore., April 6, 2012 - In a week which has seen the public unveiling of the much anticipated 2013 SRT Viper road car, Lux Performance Group, LLC has made it's own SRT Viper-related news by being named, for the third consecutive season, the official managing team of the SRT Viper Cup presented by Pennzoil Ultra "celebrity/guest" driver program. As has been the case in the two proceeding years, the Aloha, Ore.-based organization will provide expert preparation of the pair of SRT Viper ACR-X race cars. In addition, 12-time, road-racing champion Cindi Lux, also of Aloha, Ore., continues in her acclaimed role as driver coach prior to and during race weekends for the two guest drivers at each of the five weekends of SRT Viper Cup competition.
A nationally recognized racer and 2012 SRT factory driver, Lux has become one of the most sought-after driving coaches in the business. Her expertise with turning amateurs into race car drivers is rooted in her race driving experience, as a private instructor, coach to the "stars" of the Grand Prix of Long Beach Celebrity race as well as lead instructor at Miller Motorsports Park. Since the inception of the SRT Viper Cup in 2010 - then known as the Dodge Viper Cup - the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from Oregon Motorsports Museum Association-recipient has offered her instruction skill to 15 drivers ranging from absolute amateurs to trained media to professional race car drivers. In 2011, the driver lineup included: Andy Bell, Chris Burandt, Ralph Gilles, Jimmy Kite, Frank Lussier, Brian Makse, J.G. Pasterjak and Craig Stanton. Since inception, the Viper Cup celebrity program has helped raise over $125,000 for charity.

Celebrated writer Bruce Levy and professional wrestler/actor/television host Bill Goldberg will be the first guest drivers of the 2012 season when they debut the cars April 13-15 at Road Atlanta.

Lux Performance Group lead engineer and crew chief Fred Lux has used the off-season to prepare the pair of SRT Viper ACR-X race cars for the new season. With a bevy of performance solutions from the SRT and Mopar catalogs, the V10-powered, not-road-legal, race cars have had complete overhauls since their 2011 race season finale. With a focus on safety and speed, the front-engined machines have undergone meticulous rebuilds to ensure each celebrity driver will enjoy peak performance in the highly competitive one-make series.

The 10-race championship will see guest drivers in the two Lux Performance-prepped American supercars at five renowned North America road courses. The season opens on April 14 at Road Atlanta (Braselton, Ga.) with Rounds One and Two. On May 12, Lux Performance Group transports the show to Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wisc.) for the third and fourth races. The tree-lined Virginia International Raceway (Danville, Vir.) will see the fifth and sixth rounds contested on July 7 and 8, respectively. August 25-26, Monticello Motor Club in Monticello N.Y. will host races seven and eight while the season closes at Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, N.Y.) on October 20 and 21.

The complete 2012 Dodge Viper Cup season will be featured on the NBC Sports Network - formerly VERSUS - for a third season adding to the prestige of this unique, one-make championship. Cindi Lux: "We are so psyched about being back for our third season of SRT Viper Cup. This guest driver program has been more successful than I ever would have hoped. We've had just an awesome lineup of drivers go through these fire-breathing Vipers and this year is setting-up to be our best yet. Fred and all the guys at the shop have these hot rods ready for action and I know we're going to put on a great show every weekend. I can't wait to get it going at Road Atlanta.

To have a chance to make this announcement the same week as the unveiling of the 2012 SRT Viper for the street is a very proud moment for us. We're just so pleased to be a part of Viper Nation and the great motorsports tradition of the Viper. Our place in the Viper universe is something we take very seriously at Lux Performance Group. We eat, sleep and breathe these cars. Viper venom runs through our veins. We're looking forward to carrying the SRT, Viper and Viper Cup banner high all across the US this year."

Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, SRT and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC: "Our successful SRT Viper Cup Series celebrity driver program will continue in 2012 by offering Viper ACR-X rides to select media and celebrities for them to experience one of the best factory-built race cars out there. We're lucky to have the Lux Performance Group managed by Cindi Lux back with us to not only safely convey the special message of what it's like to race a Viper, but to expertly provide the best race car and driver instruction possible every weekend."

Jonathon Gomez Back in SRL Action at Stockton

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (April 4, 2012)- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland Chevrolet in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour will return to the site of his first career win in the series this Saturday night. Stockton 99 Speedway will host the opening round of the popular Late Model tour with the running of the SPEARS Manufacturing "125".

The race at Stockton will be the first of consecutive weekends for the Idaho native as he balances racing, farming and trucking operations.

Busy Schedule Will Keep Gomez Focused

Jonathon Gomez wins at Stockton 2010

Last season Gomez initially was going to defend his 2010 SRL Southwest Tour championship, but new business opportunities forced the team to make a difficult decision. Race or work?

Work won out. "We really needed to regroup and prepare, so the break has done our team a lot of good," Gomez offered. "We had so much on our plate with our business and we were just making it race to race which took a lot out of the team. This season we are prepared and ready for the challenge."

And while Gomez does not plan to run for the title this season, he and the team are solely focused on winning races. "All our cars are ready to go," Gomez said. "We have freshened everything and have backups in place. We just need to go out and race."

Gomez plans to make at least eight starts in the SRL this season and is especially excited to return to Stockton 99 Speedway this weekend. He scored his first career SRL victory at Stockton in 2010 in his first visit to the quarter-mile paved oval. "That was an awesome night," Gomez responded. "Stockton is a fun track to drive and I know we have another great car for this weekend."

Gomez plans to make more than thirty races this season in the SRL Southwest Tour, NASCAR K&N Pro Series, and Rocky Mountain Challenge Series, leaving precious little time in between shows. "That's the plan, but we first have to keep the cars in one piece for that to happen," Gomez said. "The team is committed and ready and to go back to Stockton and win would be a great boost for everyone."

More than thirty cars are expected for the Stockton event placing a premium on qualifying. "The track is tricky but I like it," Gomez stated. "We just need a solid qualifying lap and to start up front. I know we are going to race really well."

Gomez has 16 career starts in the SRL and has scored three wins, one pole award with 12 top five finishes and 13 finishes in the top 10.

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman, with team support lead by Craig Raudman, a NASCAR championship winning driver. The crew includes: Blaine Bergem, Ron Copeland, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, and Dave Reed.
