Austin Reed Delivers 1-2 Punch in First Legends Race of the Season

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 15, 2012)- Austin Reed, an 18-year old honors student at Frontier High School in Bakersfield and driver of the Approved Memory/K&N Filters sponsored Legend car, continued his study in motorsports finishing first and second in two races this past weekend on the 2.5-mile 9-turn roadcourse of Willow Springs International Raceway located in the California desert near Rosamond.

Reed topped the stout field of Legend Car racers from across the Southern California region on Saturday by setting the pace in qualifying, winning his heat race and then winning the feature event in only his second career roadcourse appearance.

Sunday, the teams were back at it but with a twist. They would tour the 2.5-mile layout in a counterclockwise position, which provided challenges to the team. "We struggled with our gear a bit on Sunday," Reed said. "We found that we were a lot faster on Sunday as the front-stretch was downhill and we had the wrong gear through practice. After we changed the gear I just did not get enough track time to perfect the new shifting points."

Reed overcame his deficit and marched through the field challenging for the win in the final lap but came up just a bit short and settled for second place. "I thought we had him but needed one more corner," stated Reed. "All in all it was a fun weekend and I really enjoyed racing on a roadcourse. It was a great way to start the season."

Plans call for Reed to race in the SRL Legend Car series this season as well as making his debut in the SRL Southwest Tour in March along with competing at the prestigious Legends Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway this summer.

Jason Jefferson Set To Drive for Dave Reed in 2012

Friendships are formed by chance meetings and so is the case with Dave Reed and Jason Jefferson. Both men have long spotted in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and both have a passion for racing.

"You have a unique opportunity to meet people in the spotter's stand," said Jefferson. "Dave and I always seemed to have the opportunity to talk as our car numbers had us lined next to each other at most events. We have kind of built up a friendship the past couple of seasons."

That friendship has landed Jefferson in the driver's seat of a Dave Reed owned SRL Southwest Series car for a few races this season. "I was blown away when Dave called and asked if I wanted to drive his car," Jefferson added. "I have not really raced much the past few years and had resigned myself to working on the outside of the car rather than driving."

Jefferson comes from a racing family out of Yakima, WA where his father (George) and his uncle (Harry) are legends in Northwest racing lore. His brother Jeff is a three-time NASCAR NW Tour champion. The younger Jefferson followed in the family tradition carving out his own niche while creating a history of his own.

Jason Jefferson has won in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, the now defunct NASCAR NW Tour, and has posted nearly 100 Late Model wins in the region where he was the class of the field at both Yakima Speedway and the now shuttered Tri-Cities Raceway, both tracks are located in Washington state.

Plans call for Jefferson to pilot the #15 Approved Memory Ford in at least three SRL events to start the season and based on sponsorship development, more races could be added to the schedule. "I am really excited to race in the SRL," Jefferson said. "I love these types of cars and getting back behind the wheel and racing for Dave Reed is going to be a lot of fun."

Dave Reed has corporate partnerships with K&N Filters, Approved Memory, Vitamin Water, JDA, Eibach, Fluidyne, HeadBlade, Power Balance, Whipz, Ringers Gloves, www.rpmtvonline.com and Fuel Clothing. You can follow Austin Reed at www.austinreedracing.com or at www.racingwest.com .

PGP OFFERS ADVANCED JUNIOR RACING CLINC FOR YOUNG

KENT, Wash. — (Feb. 9, 2012) What do 2011 Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, 2012 24 Hours of Daytona winner A.J. Allmendinger and 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart have in common? The answer is karting! And these three are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to listing motorsports legends past and present who got their racing start in karting.

With that in mind, PGP is pleased to offer our first Advanced Junior Racing Clinic from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 26. Designed to expand upon the lessons taught in our Young Guns/Junior Racers school, this clinic will add the racecraft element to those skills. The curriculum includes:

· Teaching young drivers to understand and diagnose handling characteristics and conditions

· Teaching proper race starting procedures and strategies

· Teaching racecraft etiquette and proper sportsmanship

Taught by guest instructor Derek Wang, a multi-time participant at the Rotax World Finals, and PGP General Manager Scott Cowell, the Advanced Junior Racing Clinic will use PGP’s full-sized Birel N-35 Karts to give all drivers a feel for racing with equal equipment. Participants will get plenty of hands-on experience, too, as maximum track time is built into the program to reinforce new skills learned.

The three-hour clinic is open to all Young Guns/Junior Racers school graduates meeting the minimum height requirement of 4-foot-10. To ensure an optimal driver-to-instructor ratio, the clinic is limited to the first 15 drivers to complete the mandatory preregistration. The all-inclusive cost is $175 per driver.

Interested in taking part in the Advanced Junior Racing Clinic but haven’t completed Young Guns racing school yet? Don’t worry, there’s still time. Junior Racers programs will be offered on an appointment basis right up to the day before the clinic. Junior Racers programs can be booked by calling the track at (253) 639-7223.

To register for the Advanced Junior Racing Clinic contact Scott Cowell at (253) 639-7223 or by email Scott@PacificGP.com

Cindi Lux Becomes a Slacker in 2012‏

ALOHA, Ore., February 9, 2012 - In the world of auto racing, Cindi Lux has always been known as aggressive and cutting-edge on and off the race track. In 2012, she will become a "Slacker". The Aloha, Ore.-resident will team with Slacker, Incorporated and the lifestyle branding and services provider just might give her a run for her money when it comes to innovation. The 12-time road racing champion has signed a two-year personal services agreement with the Akron, Ohio-based Slacker, Inc. (www.SlackerInc.com) that will see one of the world's leading female race car drivers promote a full line of Slacker, Inc. products and services in auto racing.

Slacker's core business of motorsports products and services for teams and corporate partners offers not only a unique line of retail motorsport items but business-to-business opportunities as well. Publicly, the company is best known for its lifestyle brand position but, within the motorsport industry, Slacker, Inc. has become a "one-stop-shop" for teams and corporate clients looking to fully exploit their auto racing involvement through not only merchandising but via a broad range of brand recognition services. Over its 17 years of operation, Slacker, Inc. has developed branding programs and marketing campaigns in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila PatrĂ³n, Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, SCCA and World Challenge among other series. In 2012, Cindi Lux will be joined on the Slacker, Inc. roster by the Starworks Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype effort and the BAR1 program in the American Le Mans Series.

Slacker Incorporated will work with Lux to develop original and social media concepts the Inaugural ALMS Women's Global GT Series Champion has created but not had the tools to implement until now. In kind, Slacker, Inc. will use the partnership to further develop its internal assets in these creative areas.

Lux, the Oregon Motorsports Museum Association's 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award-winner, will utilize and promote Slacker products and services for the 2012 and 2013 race seasons. All team clothing and accessories will come from Slacker's extensive product line while the company will also provide additional marketing and branding services to the winner of 75-career races. Lux is currently finalizing her plans for the 2012 race season as a driver in addition to the plans for Lux Performance Group, LLC. - a full-service race and development team she owns with husband Fred Lux.

Since 1995, Slacker Inc. has showcased the creativity, attitude and spirit of a brand through grassroots marketing and motorsports. Originally started as a clothing line, the company quickly moved into vehicle graphics and apparel for race teams across the country. The products and services have expanded over the years to include embroidery, screen-printing, logo design and marketing activation.

Quotes

Cindi Lux: "I have been watching for a marketing partner like Slacker, Incorporated for a long time. When they approached me with this concept, I knew immediately it would be a picture-perfect fit. Slacker is an up-and-coming company that any race car driver would love to surround themselves with. They have the same approach and same aggressive attitude I do! We see the sport through similar eyes and I think we will be able to really benefit each-other. Slacker makes a great line of products and offers top-flight services unlike any in the business. When you look at the drivers and teams they associate themselves with, you can see they only do it the right way. I am privileged to be able to call myself a 'Slacker'!"

Jason Myers, President, Slacker, Inc.:

About why the partnership with Cindi Lux: "Cindi has the right approach and attitude in the tough world of professional motorsports. She and I have a storied relationship that spans many years. We have worked together as technical partners, marketing partners, friends and fellow race car drivers on individual projects. This was all about timing and the opportunity is now to put all the past components together, go racing and have fun doing it."

About why Slacker Inc. is a good fit with Cindi Lux: "Cindi delivers what she says she can, often exceeding expectations. She is a successful businesswoman and team owner. These are qualities that any committed partner would look for as a foundation in any business. I can learn a thing or two from her; she won't give up all the secrets though. Cindi leads by example.

Cindi has a winning attitude and the drive to make it happen. Slacker Incorporated can bring to life some of her creative ideas and social media objectives to give the fans and corporate partners a unique experience. The partnership also gives Slacker the outlet to showcase a few of our internal creative resources and ideas to an established team. We have been successful over the years by delivering great products and services to the racing industry, much like Cindi Lux. All I can say is... it's about time we did this, this is going to be cool."

About what makes Cindi Lux different: "To be honest, Cindi is no different than most race car drivers competing. She has the same challenges associated with winning races and maintaining sponsor/customer relations. The difference is she does it better. Cindi is a driver, but she will also show up with full trackside support, equipment and hospitality. If you need a car or two to win races she can bring those along for a little attitude adjustment. The team has built better relationships with manufacturers and clients with high standards, Cindi has made better drivers out of students and Fred builds better and faster cars each year. I think he even plans to build a better Crippler...look out!"
