THE RUNNING OF THE ENGINES THIS WEEKEND IN ASA RACING

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Thursday, May 5, 2011) - The first weekend in May is traditionally known for a famous horse race. Many ASA Member Tracks and Series will also be in action with their own version of horsepower and saluting the most popular person in the world...our Mothers.
Here is a look at what is happening this weekend.

GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY (Elma, WA)

Two big nights of racing this weekend. On Friday, the ASCS Northwest Sprints & Hornets will be in action. Saturday, the DAA Dirt Late Models, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, and Hornets will be racing.

MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, ID)

The youngest drivers at ASA-sanctioned Meridian Speedway will kick off their season Saturday night when the Jr. Stingers make their debut. The four-cylinder class for ages 13-14 will support the CWI Professional Truck Driving Street Stock 50. The ESI Express ASA Modifieds drivers will continue to jockey for position in the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship standings with a dual main event night.

The Pepsi Sprintcars and Edmark Mini Stocks also will run. Children too young to race will take to the track in search of their fortunes in the Penny Gold Rush for Kids. Gates open at 4:00pm with racing at 6:30pm.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS (West Valley City, UT)

Their season opener has been rescheduled for this Saturday night. Rocky Mountain Raceways is staring off the season by showing kids the importance of getting A's in school. Racing for A's is a night where children throughout the community are encouraged to bring in their report cards, showing their A's. Every child with an A on their report card will get in free. Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Models, Maverik Modifieds, Mini Cups, Ford Focus Midgets, and Pro Race Trucks will hit the America First Credit Union Super Oval for the first race of the season. Gates open at 4:00 pm, qualifying begins at 4:45 pm and racing begins at 6:00 pm. Adult admission is $15.00 and youth admission (5-12) is $5.00.

SKAGIT SPEEDWAY (Burlington, WA)
The ASCS NW Regional Sprint Tour will visit Skagit Speedway for the first time. See the top touring drivers from Canada, Washington, Oregon and California. The Outlaw Hornets will also be on the nights events. Gates open at 5:45, Racing at 7pm.

SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY (Medford, OR)
The 2011 season will open this weekend with a $1,000 to win Modified Race. It is also Chamber Night at the Races with 360 Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Super 4's, and Thrill Cars in action. Grandstands open at 4:00pm with Racing at 6:00pm.

YAKIMA SPEEDWAY (Yakima, WA)

Yakima Speedway will host the next Saturday Night at the Races May 7th featuring the Yakima Speedway Super Late Models, Northwest Pro 4 Truck Series, H & H Furniture Pure Stocks, CWI Security & EZ Credit Auto Sales Hornets and the Mel's Diner Bump To Pass. Time trials at 5:15pm with racing at 6:00pm.
