Minegar Ready to Turn Season Around at RMR

BOISE, IDAHO (July15, 2010) Dave Minegar, driver of the BodyBuilding.Com Chevrolet, knows the highs of racing after winning two CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenges Series titles (06, 08). But with all the highs there can be some lows and this season has been one of his toughest in his seven-year series career. He and his Pat Minegar owned team are solely focused on clawing their way back into the championship hunt after falling to sixth in the standings. Their quest for a third series title renews this Saturday night at the high-banked oval of Rocky Mountain Raceways outside Salt Lake City, Utah.

Minegar knows a thing or two about getting around RMR. In twenty previous series starts at the 3/8-mile pave oval, Minegar has ten top five performances including two wins. "We have always been fast at RMR," Minegar offered. "We learned some things at Meridian that we think will translate to RMR and with the point's battle tightening up we hope to take advantage."

Minegar has set the standard for speed in the RMCS by capturing twenty-two (22) career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. The next driver in the ranking has eight. "Our team has placed a lot of emphasis on qualifying," Minegar said. "Qualifying fast means you have the opportunity to earn the most points for an event. That is our focus the rest of the season."

Minegar's last trip to RMR back in May resulted in a fourth place finish. "With only five races left on the schedule the entire team is focused on the championship," Minegar said. "It starts with qualifying fast and then having a good finish. The hot temperatures are going to challenge all the teams but we believe we have a car that can win."

Minegar sits sixth in the standings after five races with only two top five finishes. Despite his record this season, Minegar is only 151-points out of the top spot. A deficit that can easily be erased over the next five races, barring any more bad luck. "If we can finish all the laps the rest of the way, then we can be right there at the end and that will make for a pretty exciting year," Minegar said.

Minegar racing is owned by Pat Minegar and is sponsored by BodyBuilding.com, Redline, Gaspari Nutrition, Supreme Nutrition, MusclePharm, Optimum Nutrition, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Lennox, and Dillon Auto Craft. Minegar is in his seventh season in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series and is a two-time series champion (06, 08) with 56 career starts, six wins, 23 top five and 42 top ten finishes along with twenty-two (22) career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards and most career money won. Minegar's crew is led by crew chief Craig Bell and team members Larry Bowers, Matt Wolfkiel, Kirk Wartman, Ron Minegar, Heidi Minegar, and Tyson Garten.
