Minegar Looks for Success at Idaho 200; Bell to Make First Start of Season

Two-Time Championship Team Set for Busy Weekend of Racing at North Idaho Event
BOISE, IDAHO (July 28, 2010) Dave Minegar, driver of the BodyBuilding.Com Chevrolet, continues his steady march to the top of the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series standings. And while the championship is not out of the question with four races left to go on the 2010 campaign, the two-time series champion is only thinking about winning. Next up for Minegar is the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho "200" weekend at Stateline Stadium Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho.

Minegar has two top five and three top ten performances so far this season in six starts. He also set a new qualifying record at Meridian (ID) Speedway back in June but those are the high points in a season where he has been plagued by mechanical issues.

"I am really eager to be back at Stateline," Minegar offered. "We had a car capable of winning last time we were there and led some laps before we had a flat tire." Minegar competed in the RMCS event at Stateline back in 2008 but missed last year's edition in order to be home with his wife Heidi for the birth of their first son Ethan.

"It was tough not to be at Stateline last year especially with Craig (Bell- Minegar's teammate) winning, but we are working on some new set-ups that will hopefully prove successful this weekend," Minegar continued. "Setups are always changing and it is going to be hot so it will be interesting to see what kind of grip there will be."

The team will receive a boost this weekend as Dave Earl rejoins the team after a year-long battle with cancer. "We are thrilled to have Dave Earl returning to the team after battling cancer," Minegar stated. "He had his last chemo session last week and he is excited to rejoin the team!"

With the season winding down, Minegar's plan is simple. Win. "Our strategy is to race for wins," Minegar continued. "The points will come if we can win races and I think we are close. Everyone is working really hard to put the BodyBuilding.Com Chevrolet back in victory lane."

After spending this season as Minegar's crew chief, Craig Bell will return to the seat of the #99 in order to defend his RMCS Duel for the 200 win from last season. Bell is the only RMCS regular to have top five finishes in both previous races at Stateline. "My car owner Pat really wanted me back in the car for this race and it would sure be a lot of fun to go back up there and win again," Bell stated.

"I am excited to have Craig Bell back in the #99," Minegar said. He won the RMCS race last year and it would be great to have both cars battle for the win this year. I am also really looking forward to racing in the 200 on Sunday. That is a race I want to win." The top six points finishers from the RMCS event on Saturday will be locked into the the Idaho "200" on Sunday.

Minegar is currently fifth in the RMCS point standings heading into the final four races of the season. He is 65-points out of fourth and 154-points out of the top spot. A maximum of 239 points are available for each event with points being awarded for qualifying, heat race finishing position, main event finishing position, and passing points (3-points per positions gain from original starting position. The RMCS inverts up to 20-cars in each event). A big night at Stateline could put Minegar right back in the title fight.

Minegar racing is owned by Pat Minegar and is sponsored by BodyBuilding.com, Redline, Gaspari Nutrition, Supreme Nutrition, MusclePharm, Optimum Nutrition, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Lennox, and Dillon Auto Craft. Minegar is in his seventh season in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series and is a two-time series champion (06, 08) with 57 career starts, six wins, 23 top five and 43 top ten finishes along with twenty-two (22) career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards and most career money won. Minegar's crew is led this weekend by Dave Earl, Larry Bowers, Matt Wolfkiel, Kirk Wartman, Ron Minegar, Heidi Minegar, and Tyson Garten.
