Minegar Scores First Top Five Finish of Season

Minegar Racing and BodyBuilding.Com Return to Form After Best Result of Season

BOISE, IDAHO (June 2, 2010) This past Monday, two-time CarbonX Rocky Mountain Series champion Dave Minegar returned championship form at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley, Utah scoring his first top five finish of the season and vaulting up to seventh place in the point standings.

Minegar qualified his BodyBuilding.Com Chevrolet sixth quick while still chasing a few gremlins that have hampered the team so far this season. His qualifying effort would mean he would start the 100-lap race from the 12th starting position after the customary series invert places the fast qualifiers to the rear of the field.

Minegar, a veteran of seven years on the RMCS tour, used the opening laps just to let the tires settle in and allow the side-by-side action to thin out. His race plan was to just ride for 60 laps and then make a move towards the front. Before he could let the plan play out, he was collected in an on-track incident not of his making.

Minegar pitted to repair front end damage to his car and was able to stay on the lead lap. He pitted two more times over the course of the event and each time he restarted at the rear of the field.

During long green flag runs in the middle portion of the race, Minegar navigated the traffic and moved up to the top ten by lap 50 and into the top five by lap 75. Over the closing 25 laps, Minegar used two late cautions to cool his tires and make a run on the top four drivers and waged a spirited battle with Lynn Hardy for the fourth position. He ran out of laps and settled for a fourth place finish.

"This felt like a win for us," Minegar said. "We have had our share of problems this season but Craig (Bell, crew chief), Larry (Bowers) and the rest of the team have done a great job fixing the issues and making our BodyBuilding.Com Chevrolet better each week. This race was a lot of fun and I congratulate Steve Jones on his win. It is great to see him so successful this season."

Driving the #99 team car was Tom Hill of Eagle, ID who made his first start of the season. Hill made his 48th career start in the series and his tenth place finish was his 32nd top ten performance. "It was an interesting night," Hill said. "This car was much different than my car so it took a bit to find my groove. I thank Pat Mineger for the opportunity and I look forward to the upcoming races where I will be back in my #12."

"It was great to see Tom back out on the track," Minegar said. "I know the fans saw a good race and I look forward to Magic Valley on June 12th. Hopefully we can showcase this team well and get our first win of the season."

Minegar racing is owned by Pat Minegar and is sponsored by BodyBuilding.com, Redline, Gaspari Nutrition, Supreme Nutrition, MusclePharm, Optimum Nutrition, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Lennox, and Dillon Auto Craft.
