Minegar Ready to Start RMCS Season

After Long Layoff, Two-Time Champ Set to Challenge for Third Title

BOISE, IDAHO (April 22, 2010) Tom Petty penned the lyric that 'the waiting is the hardest part'. For Dave Minegar of Boise, Idaho, the wait was nine months before he could get back behind the wheel of his racecar in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series after a devastating crash sidelined the 30-year competitor last season.

A lot can happen during a layoff. Passion for the sport could change. New opportunities could open up. Life could just be a bit different. All of those things rang true for Mineger as he and his wife Heidi welcomed their first child (Ethan) to the team last August. His professional career exploded with new opportunities, and his passion for racing if anything, burns brighter.

Last weekend he turned his first practice laps in his new car and it was like no time had passed. "It felt really good to drive the car again," Minegar offered. "I didn't know how much I missed it. The car was awesome and felt great. We didn't change anything from our set up in the shop; we just logged laps."

Minegar's championship quest gets underway this Saturday night, April 24 at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho for round one of the ten race series. He has won three times at the tricky 1/3-mile paved oval with his last triumph coming in May of 2008. And while winning is usually the measure of a driver, competing in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series offers a different benchmark.

The series utilizes a 20-car invert putting the fast qualifier in time trials at the rear of the field to start the main event. And for most of his RMCS career, Minegar has started at the rear of the field as he holds 21 career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. Throughout his career he has had an average starting position of 17th in every RMCS event and of his 51 career series starts, 40 have resulted in top ten finishes.

"This is a tough series to win in but the format makes you a better driver," Minegar said. "Racing through an invert is all I have ever known and I know it produces the kind of side-by-side racing action the fans love."

BodyBuilding.com returns for the ninth year of their partnership with Minegar Racing. "The folks at BodyBuilding.com are an awesome sponsor and dedicated to our success," Minegar said. "I am also thrilled to have MusclePharm and Optimum Nutrition join the team this season."

Craig Bell is trading in his helmet this season and taking on the role of crew chief. "I am real excited about having Craig as my crew chief this year," Minegar said. "Most all the team is back this season but we will be missing the backbone of our crew as "Big" Dave Earl is battling cancer. He hopes to rejoin the team this summer after he completes his chemo treatments."

Minegar racing is sponsored by BodyBuilding.com, Redline, Gaspari Nutrition, Supreme Nutrition, MusclePharm, Optimum Nutrition, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Lennox, and Dillon Auto Craft. Minegar enters his seventh season in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series and is a two-time series champion (06, 08) with 51 career starts, six wins, 21 top five and 40 top ten finishes along with twenty (21) career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards and most career money won.
