Minegar Racing Dealt Challenge in RMCS Opener

Minegar Racing Two-Car Effort Sidelined at Magic Valley Speedway

BOISE, IDAHO (April 25, 2010) Minegar Racing team owner Pat Minegar is the most successful owner in the history of the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series having fielded a car in every series event since inception. He has more wins, top five and top ten finishes, and has scored more Fast Time awards as an owner and while most of the team's success has come with his nephew Dave Minegar behind the wheel, he has operated a second team for the past three seasons.

Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho, the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series was set for round one of their ten race campaign. Pat Minegar had planned to run only one car in the race but he cut a a deal at the last moment putting Jonathon Gomez in a second Minegar Racing car.

Two-time RMCS champion Dave Minegar of Boise had a lot of excitement and expectations heading into the 75-lap race Saturday night in search of a third series title. His excitement was dashed early in the race after a stuck throttle ended his night on lap 37. Gomez parked his mount 20 laps later after contact on a restart closed the grill opening causing his car to overheat.

"It is a tough way to start the season," Dave Minegar explained. "I am really disappointed but this team never quits and works very hard to put a first-class effort together. We certainly have our work cut out for us over the next two weeks."

Minegar's finish puts him 13th in the standings, 87 points out of the lead. "We have a hole to dig out of but we will do it," Minegar offered. "Our team, like our sponsor BodyBuilding.Com, is tough, resilient, and prepared. We always run great at RMR so our focus really shifts to getting our car prepared to race and I look forward to the next event."

The next event for Dave Minegar and Minegar Racing is Saturday, May 8 at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley Utah where Minegar has scored two wins and seven top five finishes in 19 starts.

Minegar racing is sponsored by BodyBuilding.com, Redline, Gaspari Nutrition, Supreme Nutrition, MusclePharm, Optimum Nutrition, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Lennox, and Dillon Auto Craft. Minegar enters his seventh season in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series and is a two-time series champion (06, 08) with 52 career starts, six wins, 21 top five and 40 top ten finishes along with twenty (21) career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards and most career money won.
