GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY RETURNS AS AN ASA MEMBER TRACK FOR THE 2011 SEASON WITH SOME CHANGES TO ITS PROGRAM

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Friday, April 22, 2011) - It has been a busy off-season at Grays Harbor Raceway, (GHR) an ASA Member Track in Elma, WA. Last month, they announced some operational changes and will be ready for an exciting 2011 season.

Last month, Grays Harbor Raceway announced that Jerry Schram, one of the shareholders of Great Northwest Promotions (GNWRP), will assume the responsibilities of the day to day operations. GNWRP is the leaseholder at GHR and decided to make the switch to help consolidate overhead, streamline operations and improve efficiencies. Nikki Gamell will be handling the track office duties.

Even though there was a change in the management, Grays Harbor Raceway will continue to be a part of the ASA Member Track program. "These days, it seems that cutting programs and racer benefits is more the norm than the opposite. We are proud to be an ASA Member track and provide our racers with an insurance package that far exceeds the minimums provided at many tracks," Jerry Schram said. "We will fly the ASA Banner at Grays Harbor Raceway proudly knowing that doing less was an option, however, the racers came first, and we wanted the best for them."

The change in leadership will bring some new and exciting programs for the 2011 season. One announcement they made was that the Velma Burger will be making a return to the concession stands.

Another announcement was how two ASA Member Tracks are partnering up with the ASCS Northwest Regional Tour for a two-night event in May. Grays Harbor Raceway and Skagit Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Burlington, WA, will be hosting a doubleheader night with the Tour on May 6-7. Grays Harbor Raceway will host the May 6 event while Skagit will host the May 7 event. If a driver wins both main events, he or she will receive a $500 bonus.

They also announced that they will be going to a group qualifying session for their weekly Saturday night events in 2011. Heat races will be fully inverted from qualifying times, with the fast cars in the back. Passing points and finishing points will be awarded for the heats. The lineup for the main events will be determined by the total points from the heats. Then a fan will roll/draw the number for the number of rows that will be the invert. This format will be for all classes except Hornets.

The 3/8-mile clay oval hosts weekly divisions throughout the season on Saturday nights featuring Sprints, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Midgets and Hornets. The 6,500 seat facility also hosts some of the best touring dirt series as well, like the ASCS Northwest Region Sprint Tour, DAA Dirt Late Models, NWWT Wingless Sprints and North West Wingless Tour.

The Fifth Annual Fred Brownfield Memorial is scheduled for July 15-16, and their Big E Weekend is slated for August 26-27.

"We are excited to re-sign Grays Harbor Raceway to our ASA Member Track program," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "They have a great family friendly facility that provides some of the best entertaining dirt track action in southern Washington. We wish Jerry, Nichole and the entire staff at Grays Harbor Raceway a successful 2011 season."
