Thompson Set for Road Course Clash

JEROME, IDAHO (April 28, 2011) For most of his racing career, Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, has traveled far and wide to compete in NASCAR. This weekend offers a rare chance for Thompson to compete close to home (sort of). The NASCAR K&N Pro Series is set to tackle the 2.2-mile East course at Miller Motorsports Park located in Toole, UT thirty minutes West of Salt Lake City. The Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix on Saturday, April 30 is round three of the 14-race schedule for the series celebrating its 58th season of competition in 2011.

Thompson is eager to get the first of three road course races this season under his belt. The beautiful world-class facility is a scant four hours from his home in Jerome, Idaho and his Thompson Motorsports team recently tested at MMP and came away feeling confident about the upcoming race. “Testing went really well,” Thompson offered. “I was the most comfortable I have ever been in the car on a road course.”

A lot of that comfort comes from having a crew chief that has been there and done that. Charlie Wilson knows how to win championships having won the West title with fellow Idahoan Scott Lynch back in 2003. Wilson also worked back east with Kevin Harvick attaining success in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series.“We are really fortunate to have Charlie on the team.” Thompson said. “Charlie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that we have not had and since he is here full-time, his influence has made a positive impact on our performance.”

Road racing demands a lot from the crew in terms of set up but also a lot from the driver in terms of precision. “When it comes to road racing, you have to think very different about the race. You have to simply race your own race and focus on the track. It is really hard to break your ‘short-track habits’, but road racing is all about hitting your marks every lap; every time. You just need to run your own race, avoid the mess, and finish every lap.”

Seems simple enough but whenever you put thirty other cars on the track with each of them running their own race, things can happen. “I have learned over the years that the fastest car does not always win,” Thompson said. “So we just need to be smart and dodge the bullets out there and we will be fine.”

Pit strategy is a usual topic for most race teams at the road course events. Conventional wisdom tells you to pit early and gain track position for late in the race. “With this year’s race on the smaller East course I think there might be an opportunity to run the entire race without pitting,” Thompson said. “It’s a gamble either way but I know the fans will see a really good show and I just hope it’s us that comes out on top.”

Thompson has started two previous series races at MMP with a best finish of 12th back in 2009. “I think the short course will make for a much better race for the fans and us as competitors,” Thompson said. “I think the biggest challenge will be exiting the pits and easing back into traffic since you exit the pits and join the flow just as the course turns hard left from the main front stretch. That will be interesting.”

Thompson has started 101 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 21 top five and 58 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009. Brett Thompson is currently third place in the championship standings after two races just 20-points out of second and 68-points out of first place. Thompson is coming off an 8th place performance at All American two weeks ago and a 5th place finish in the season opener at Phoenix back in February.

Thompson Motorsports is a premier motorsports organization based in Jerome, Idaho providing complete race car preparation and fabrication supporting the local grassroots racer and experienced professional driver. TMS prepares and fields race vehicles in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR K&N Pro Series, CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series, Intermountain Pro Truck Series, and entries at local area short tracks. TMS has corporate partnerships with Rich Thompson Trucking Inc. Jonathon Gomez Excited About First Road Course Race of the Year

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (April 28, 2011) Jonathon Gomez, driver of the Heritage Cattle Co./Century Boatland Chevrolet, enters Saturday's NASCAR's K&N Pro Series event at Miller Motorsports Park (Toole, UT) sitting fourth in the point standings and looking for his first series victory. That victory could come at MMP as Gomez is the only series regular to have won on the 2.2-mile East course that the series will use for the first time this weekend.

Last season in preparation for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix, Gomez competed in the Mustang Challenge Series that utilized the smaller 2.2-mile East course and won the event besting many road course racing regulars.

"I don't know if it will be much of an advantage as we have so many great road course racers in our series," Gomez offered. "But I do have some experience on the course and winning always gives you confidence."

In the NKNPS race last year on the larger 3.048-mile outer course, Gomez was running fifth with two laps to go only to cut a tire dropping him off the lead lap resulting in a 21st place finishing position. "We were really disappointed about the finish last year and we feel we have a lot to make up for," Gomez said. "We have been good on the road courses and know we are a top five car. I can't wait to get on track."

The big question is going to come down to strategy. This year's event is 50-laps/110-miles, so track position late in the event will be crucial. Do you pit? When do you pit? "We have not really penciled it out yet," Gomez stated. "All I know is that we need to be in the top five late in the race, so our plan really centers around that. If we are there then we will have a good shot at it."

Gomez has not tested this season due to his hectic work schedule. He is currently building a new trucking operation up in North Dakota working 16-hours a day. "Racing is a nice break from work but growing our business pays for the racing," Gomez said. "The lack of testing has hurt when it comes to setting up for each race but we have been able to overcome it. Craig (Raudman- crew chief) and the team have been awesome and fortunately we have been able to race really well. We have a great car for this weekend."

Gomez currently sits fourth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series championship standings after two races this season just nine points out of third place and 87-points out of the point lead. Gomez has started 22 NASCAR K&N Pro Series races scoring four top five and ten top ten finishes. He has also been running at the conclusion of every race completing 99.6% of all laps contested in his career.

Jonathon Gomez is supported by Heritage Cattle Company, Century Boatland, J&C Custom Harvesting, United Oil, Modern Machinery, DJ Safety, and Gomez Farms. Jonathon Gomez is the 2010 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Champion. Gomez is also a winner on the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series and in the Mustang Challenge Series at Miller Motorsports Park. For more information on Jonathon Gomez, please log onto his website at http://jonathongomez.com or NASCAR Hometracks.
Marketing partnerships and sponsorship opportunities for the 2011 racing season are still available with Heritage Motor Sports and rising star Jonathon Gomez. For a custom proposal and additional information please contact John Gomez at 208/731-1288.

Great racing, new contenders at opener of Stars of PGP Kart Series‏

KENT, Wash. — (April 25, 2011) What a great way to start the competitive karting season at PGP Motorsports Park! Saturday’s opening round of the Stars of PGP Kart Series saw beautiful weather and fantastic action on the track including a new track record.

Entering its sophomore season, the series has some established contenders but on Saturday some new drivers not only made their PGP debut but also showed early promise of challenging for victories and eventually championships.

Once the dust had cleared first-place trophies in the various categories were awarded to Justin Taylor, Hayden Hochhalter, Derek Wang, Doug Taylor, Sean Naslund, and Cameron Grimes-Hess. Details for each category are below and PGP wishes to thank Leon Cheung for the photos.

The next round of the Stars of PGP Kart Series is Saturday, May 21 — and don’t forget the Friday before, May 20, has been set aside as an exclusive practice session. Can’t get enough competing at PGP? Come out for the opening round of Rental Kart League Racing this Saturday, April 30.

Rotax Micro and Rotax Mini

In Rotax Mini it was all Justin Taylor, who turned lap times just shy of the track record all day long and secured the trifecta with the pole and victories in the Heat Race and Final. After not getting to turn a lap in qualifying due to mechanical issues, Matt Nelson came back to take second.

Caleb Daniells shattered his own Rotax Micro track record during qualifying and then followed up that by running away with the Heat Race win. In the Final, Caleb felt pressure from behind coming from 7-year-old Hayden Hochhalter, who found a lot more speed from his run in the heat. Hayden stalked the leader for several laps then inherited the lead when Caleb made an uncharacteristic mistake entering Turn 4. Hayden held on for his first victory in just his first race at PGP.

PGP’s Rental Kart Class

Some of the day’s best racing and one of the most exciting finishes was in the Rental Kart Class, as new drivers put pressure on the established contenders. One of those was Shawn Tracy, who won the pole in qualifying and earned a podium finish in the Final after making the move up from the Saturday morning league series to challenge to the drivers of the Stars series.

Battling for the victory in the Heat Race and Final would be three of the best rental kart racers at PGP: Cameron Grimes-Hess, Maurice Shawver and Jerry Peterson. A last-lap pass gave Grimes-Hess the Heat victory over Peterson by the slim margin of two-tenths of a second and set the stage for a thrilling feature event.

Shawver would find the point at the drop of the green in the Final, but he was immediately pressured by Grimes-Hess, eventually losing the spot to his rival. As the two battled back and forth, Peterson and Tracy joined the fight to make it a four-way battle for the win. On the final lap, Shawver shot to the inside going into Turn 6, pulling alongside Hess but losing all his speed and falling into the clutches of Peterson and Tracy. Hess held on for the win, followed by Peterson and Tracy.

Stock Shifter Light
Birel stable teammates Sean Naslund and Derek Hansen were the class of the field in the shifter category followed by Scott Little, who was making his first start in the class. Adding to the fun for the Final was PGP’s own Kyle Zalud, who drove the same shifter kart available for rent from the track.

Naslund, the reigning class champion, looked to once again be in fine form, winning the pole, Heat Race and Final. With just a few races in the class, Hansen was still finding more pace in his ride but he was quick enough to finish second. The feel-good story of the day had to be Little, who overcame early motor issues. Little’s lap times improved throughout the day and by the end he was cutting circuits times just shy of Hansen’s.

Rotax Senior

From qualifying to the Final, Rotax Senior was a fight for second place as Rolison Performance Group racer Derek Wang completely dominated the day. Clocking a lap nearly a half-second quicker than the rest of the class, Wang cruised to the pole position and then victory in the Heat Race. Although Wang was beaten off the line at the start of the Final, he recovered the lead and then built an insurmountable margin en route to the win.

Battling for the “best of the rest” behind him was Seattle Karting Specialties driver Johnny Blair and Cameron Grimes-Hess. Grimes-Hess had the second fastest time in qualifying but Blair struck back with a runner-up finish in the heat. The two battled again in the Final, with Grimes-Hess applying early pressure that Blair was able to withstand on his way to another second-place finish. Grimes-Hess took the final podium spot.

Rotax Masters

The driver to beat in Rotax Master was Doug Taylor, holder of the track record holder for TaG Master. Taylor proved he was just as fast in Rotax Master, taking the pole by a narrow margin over Doug Huggler and then recording solid victories in the Heat Race and Final. The battle behind Taylor in the heat was between Huggler and Jerry Peterson, with Peterson taking second. Peterson turned up the pace in the feature, getting past Huggler and turning laps close to that of Taylor, but he wasn’t able to cut into the gap.

GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY RETURNS AS AN ASA MEMBER TRACK FOR THE 2011 SEASON WITH SOME CHANGES TO ITS PROGRAM

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Friday, April 22, 2011) - It has been a busy off-season at Grays Harbor Raceway, (GHR) an ASA Member Track in Elma, WA. Last month, they announced some operational changes and will be ready for an exciting 2011 season.

Last month, Grays Harbor Raceway announced that Jerry Schram, one of the shareholders of Great Northwest Promotions (GNWRP), will assume the responsibilities of the day to day operations. GNWRP is the leaseholder at GHR and decided to make the switch to help consolidate overhead, streamline operations and improve efficiencies. Nikki Gamell will be handling the track office duties.

Even though there was a change in the management, Grays Harbor Raceway will continue to be a part of the ASA Member Track program. "These days, it seems that cutting programs and racer benefits is more the norm than the opposite. We are proud to be an ASA Member track and provide our racers with an insurance package that far exceeds the minimums provided at many tracks," Jerry Schram said. "We will fly the ASA Banner at Grays Harbor Raceway proudly knowing that doing less was an option, however, the racers came first, and we wanted the best for them."

The change in leadership will bring some new and exciting programs for the 2011 season. One announcement they made was that the Velma Burger will be making a return to the concession stands.

Another announcement was how two ASA Member Tracks are partnering up with the ASCS Northwest Regional Tour for a two-night event in May. Grays Harbor Raceway and Skagit Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Burlington, WA, will be hosting a doubleheader night with the Tour on May 6-7. Grays Harbor Raceway will host the May 6 event while Skagit will host the May 7 event. If a driver wins both main events, he or she will receive a $500 bonus.

They also announced that they will be going to a group qualifying session for their weekly Saturday night events in 2011. Heat races will be fully inverted from qualifying times, with the fast cars in the back. Passing points and finishing points will be awarded for the heats. The lineup for the main events will be determined by the total points from the heats. Then a fan will roll/draw the number for the number of rows that will be the invert. This format will be for all classes except Hornets.

The 3/8-mile clay oval hosts weekly divisions throughout the season on Saturday nights featuring Sprints, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Midgets and Hornets. The 6,500 seat facility also hosts some of the best touring dirt series as well, like the ASCS Northwest Region Sprint Tour, DAA Dirt Late Models, NWWT Wingless Sprints and North West Wingless Tour.

The Fifth Annual Fred Brownfield Memorial is scheduled for July 15-16, and their Big E Weekend is slated for August 26-27.

"We are excited to re-sign Grays Harbor Raceway to our ASA Member Track program," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "They have a great family friendly facility that provides some of the best entertaining dirt track action in southern Washington. We wish Jerry, Nichole and the entire staff at Grays Harbor Raceway a successful 2011 season."

CarbonX Sponsored Late Model Tour Opens at Magic Valley Speedway

BOISE, IDAHO (April 21, 2011) The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series opens up its eighth season Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho. The series known for its 20-car invert will stage the 27th series event at the one-third mile paved oval that has seen 16 different race winners.

CarbonX returns for its fourth season as primary sponsor of the Late Model Stock Car touring series known for producing some of the best short track racing around. "I am thrilled to have CarbonX back with us for their fourth season," stated Mike Minegar, President of the RMCS. "CarbonX has been a great partner and they produce the world's finest protective and fire resistant clothing and this series is a perfect fit to deliver their message and promote their products."

Century Boatland located in Twin Falls is returning as a major sponsor this season to the RMCS providing significant race support and contributions to the season ending point's fund. "We have great sponsors in CarbonX and Century Boatland," Minegar said. "They are both very happy with our series and see value in supporting us. Today it takes partnerships to make this whole thing work and without them I don’t think we could make it all work. John Gomez (Century Boatland) has been a great friend and supporter of the series."

2010 series champion Steve Jones out of Boise, Idaho is back to defend his championship and will debut a brand new Lefthander Chassis. "We are really excited about the new car and getting back to racing," Jones stated. "It is has been quite a thrash this week and I am not as prepared as would like to be but I can't wait to see how this new car works. Saturday night will be a lot of fun."

In ten previous series starts at MVS, the best finish for Jones is a second place performance in the season finale last year; despite having won more than fifty (50) times en route to claiming seven track championships.

"I have a lot of laps at Magic Valley but the RMCS has a lot of talent," Jones continued. "The invert really separates the men from the boys and it is a format I have really come to enjoy. The fans will see a great race."

Bobby Latham III of Twin Falls leads all drivers with four victories at MVS with two-time series champion Dave Minegar and 2009 champion John Dillon scoring three wins each. Tom Hill, Bryan Warf, James Eaton, and John Newhouse each have two wins apiece at MVS with eight other drivers claiming one victory. Of the multi-time winners at MVS, only 2007 champion John Newhouse will be in action this weekend.

Last season Bruce Quale scored his first series win in this event and was followed to the line by long tow stalwart Thane Alderman. Brett Thompson, Steve Jones, and Dylan Caldwell rounded out the top five.

John Newhouse will make his 60th career start (all-time starts leader) Saturday night. Newhouse also has 47 career top ten finishes in 59 starts along with 31 top five finishes and two wins. Two-time champion Dave Minegar will only compete on a part-time basis this year making his first start later in the season. Minegar is the track record holder with a quick lap of 14.216 seconds/84.328 mph and has 23 career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards.

Two-time series champion Zan Sharp is back full-time this season. Sharp has started 53 career races collecting six wins, eight fast times along with 34 top ten and 27 top five performances.

Embarking on his first full campaign this season is John Wong out of Parma, Idaho. Wong has started a handful of races over the past several years and enters this season with a great deal of optimism. He intended on running the entire schedule last season until he suffered a broken leg in a snowmobiling accident that sidelined him for most of the season. Wong made three starts at the tail end of the season scoring two top ten finishes. Wong drives a car built, prepared and serviced by Thompson Motorsports out of Jerome, Idaho.

Meridian Speedway legend John Nesmith will be competing full-time on the tour this season for the first time since the 2004 campaign. Nesmith purchased Tom Hill's racing winning car last season and is expected to challenge for the title. Another Meridian Speedway alum, Tyler Bailey, will compete for rookie-of-the-year honors this season and make his series debut Saturday night.

Racing action gets underway at 6pm with RMCS qualifying and a whole host of local racing action featuring six local racing divisions.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The top 20 qualifiers are inverted for every race putting fast time in the 20th starting position. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.

The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series is a regional touring series that allows all competitors to race and gain experience on different types of racetracks. It is a high-quality professional racing series that offers maximum opportunity at an affordable price serving the intermountain West. PGP HAS PLENTY OF NEW IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE 2011 RACING SEASON

KENT, Wash. — (April 22, 2011) Spring has sprung and sooner or later it’s got to stop raining, right? But just like the racing at PGP, our Spring Cleaning has been rain or shine and we’ve been pretty busy making the region’s premier multi-purpose motorsports venue even better!

Here are some things that we’ve been working on:
• New servers and computers have been installed in the scoring tower — literally the center of the universe for us at PGP — and the sound system at the track has been greatly improved by the addition of new mixing boards, wireless microphones and six tower speakers.

• PGP’s rental kart fleet is being restored to our high standards for events in time for the start of the season. And we have a ton of events scheduled, too many to list here but to find out visit www.pacificgp.com.

• Real restrooms — one of our most-requested upgrades — are going through some final planning before placement but all equipment on site.

• The in-ground scales have been finished and a new fence along the hot-pit lane will be installed soon which will improve safety.

• We continue to develop the corner lighting system at the track and are constantly updating our INIS software for event operations.

• Based on customer feedback we’ve made adjustments to make online viewing events at PGP easier than before. Now you won’t need to enter any information, just click on the link and watch. As always, events are also available for “on demand” viewing at later dates.

• Tired of running through gravel to get to us? So are we, but not for much longer. We will be paving the access road to the paddock area, as well as expanding the paddock area.

• New vendors have been lined up to support events with food and we’ll have a beer vendor for those events that support spectators.
• Because we know your time at PGP is important, we’ve assembled a new crew for event operations and specifically for technical directions and on-track scrutineering.

• The classroom hut is all finished and is a great spot for parties as well as learning the ins and outs of the fastest way around PGP.

Have an idea of something we can do to make your PGP experience even better? Let us know! Grab a staff member at the track, give us a call or send us an email.

MOORE WINS EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY LATE MODEL OPENER

MOORE WINS EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY LATE MODEL OPENER

Thompson Rebounds for 8th Place Finish

JEROME, IDAHO (April 18, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Chevrolet, overcame an early spin and a lost lap to close on the leaders late in the NAPA Auto Care "150" at All American Speedway located in Roseville, CA and claimed an eighth place finish. The finish vaulted Thompson up to third in the championship standings after two races in the 14-race NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

Thompson qualified his brand new Thompson Motorsports built Chevrolet in the tenth position after struggling to find the right set up that would work on the new chassis and the challenging 3/8-mile layout at All American. His tenth place starting position would mean he would start the 150-lap race on the outside row on a track where passing is a premium and the inside line is the preferred groove.

During the early laps Thompson was set to just ride and let the race sort itself out. After a caution at lap 25, the field bunched back up for the double file restart and that close quarters racing started to produce fireworks. Unfortunately, Thompson was tagged from behind after several cars directly behind him got together and made contact with the the left rear of Thompson's Chevrolet. The result was a spin and a new starting position at the back of the field.

Thompson spent the next 40 laps fighting to stay on the lead lap but was overtaken by the race leader on lap 70. A caution a few laps later erased the one lap deficit and Thompson was back on the lead lap in 12th place.

Over the second half of the race, Thompson worked his way into the top ten within sight of the leaders when the final caution flew on lap 135. The final 15 laps saw the lead change hands four times and Thompson moved up to the 8th position when the checkered flag dropped.

"It was not the kind of night we wanted but we were able to stay out of the mess late in the race and finish in the top ten," Thompson said. "We had a better car than our finish indicated but we had to use up the tires getting back through the field after that early incident. The team did an awesome job and we are doing what we need to in order to stay in the championship hunt."

The Toyota/NAPA AutoCare 150 from All American Speedway will air on SPEED Thursday, May 5 at 6 p.m. ET. The next event for Brett Thompson in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West is April 30, the first of three road-course events of the year, in the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

While Greg Pursley continues to lead the championship standings with 365 points, Brett Thompson moved into third place just 20-points out of second and 68-points out of first place.

KENT, Wash. — (April 20, 2011) Northwest karters: Are you ready to RACE? To find out how good you really are at stuffing it deep into a turn and screaming down the straights? To feel the triumph of stalking the driver ahead of you and pulling off the perfect pass?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions you’re just like us, and that means the only place to be this weekend is PGP Motorsports Park for the opening round of the 2011 Stars of PGP Kart Series.

Another question for you karters: Are you ready to show up the drifters and SuperMoto riders who made their season-opening events last weekend at PGP incredibly huge successes? Those groups came out in force and ready to mix it up on the track — are you ready to show your pride and stay in stride?

All Stars of PGP Kart Series events are rain-or-shine and follow our tried-and-true schedule with practice, qualifying, heat races and a main event each day. To keep things moving classes will be combined, ensuring maximum seat time for all participants. Being in the seat and flying around PGP’s track is exactly where Northwest kart competitors want to be.

Don’t worry about packing a lunch on Saturday, either, because we’ll have a Food Court with plenty of delicious hot food provided by Simply The Best Catering.

And why not start your racing weekend on Friday with exclusive use of our state-of-the-art track for practice? Sure, we’ll let some rental karts get out there, too, but since we also have a Rental Kart class during Stars events you can put that time to good use by turning some laps in our Birel karts.

You can even stay at the track Friday night so you’ll be right here for Saturday’s opening round of the eight-race Stars of PGP Kart Series.

You’ll want any the extra edge you can get, too. First because the competition at PGP is the best in the region, but also because at stake is qualifying for a trip to the 2011 U.S. Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals July 19-23 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooelle, Utah. PGP is proud to be the Rotax Max Challenge Series track in the Pacific Northwest.

Want more value? How about combining the Stars of PGP Kart Series with the visit to PGP by the I-5 Corridor Series on June 25-26 and Aug. 27-28? PGP regulars won’t have a problem taking part in the I-5 Series at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex either, because we haven’t scheduled any kart events on those dates.

Need even more track time? OK, we’ll be operating a new Wednesday night Motorsports event that will combine two kart classes (Shifter and Rotax) with Rental Karts, Supermoto, Drifting and timed SCCA-style Lap Attacks. A fast-paced, action-packed evening race with food vendors, beer gardens and spectators — yes, spectators — cheering on their favorites.

We will have live webcasts of all Stars of PGP Kart events provided by eventbuilder.com and accessible through a link on our website at www.PacificGP.com. We’ve made adjustments to make viewing events at PGP easier than any: just click on the link and watch. Events will also be available for “on demand” viewing after the fact by following the same link.

Idaho Driver Looking for Same Result; Different Outcome

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (April 12, 2011) Jonathon Gomez, driver of the Heritage Cattle Co./Century Boatland Chevrolet, enters Saturday's NASCAR's K&N Pro Series event at All American Speedway on a roll delivering a third place finish at the annual NASCAR All-Star Showdown and a runner-up finish at Phoenix in round one last month. Returning to the one-third mile Roseville, CA fairgrounds track has been on his mind since last March after a second place finish was erased due to a post-race inspection penalty.

Gomez has a lot of momentum propelling him heading into the 150-lap NAPA Auto Care spnosred event. First, he has been hot so far this season. Second, he has completed 99.6% of all laps contested since the beginning of last season (leading all competitors). Third, he has been running at the conclusion of all 21 career starts demonstrating he knows how to save his car and make a charge at the end of the race.

"I have been looking forward to Roseville for a long time," Gomez said. "We are so much more prepared, focused, and ready this season then we were last year. Craig Raudman and the entire crew have worked hard preparing our short track cars and we feel we have a great shot this weekend."

Qualifying is always key in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series but especially on a short track like All American where passing is at a premium and usually at the expense of someone else. "We just need to qualify in the top five and keep our nose clean."

Gomez has made three series starts at All American Speedway scoring one top ten finish and completing 455 of 460 laps contested.

Gomez will be pulling double duty this weekend by also completing in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Series event. Gomez is the defending SRL champion and looking to rebound after a mechanical issue sidelined his effort in round one two weeks ago. Gomez has two career SRL starts at All American Speedway with one top five and two top ten performances.

"Just like last season, we plan on getting as much seat time as possible and the SRL series is a great series to compete in," Gomez offered. "All the drivers are really good and guys like M.K. Kanke and Jim Pettit race you really hard and give you no slack. It has really made me a better driver. I am looking forward to the race."

Gomez currently sits second in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series championship standings after his second place finish at Phoenix, just 15-points behind point leader Greg Pursley.

Brett Thompson Eyes Title Run; Focused, Determined, Driven

JEROME, IDAHO (April 12, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Chevrolet, is coming off a fifth place performance in round one of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series at Phoenix last month. Heading into this weekend's NAPA Auto Care "150" at All American Speedway located in Roseville, CA, Thompson has a renewed sense of purpose.

Thompson's team will debut a brand new short track car completely built in-house at their Jerome, Idaho shop. "I am really proud of all our guys and their dedication at Thompson Motorsports," Thompson said. "We have bulit several new cars over the winter in order to make a run at the championship this year. The new chassis was flawless at Phoenix and we feel we will be just as good on the short tracks this season."

Adding to the excitement the team feels about 2011, Thompson's crew chief Charlie Wilson relocated to Jerome from North Carolina this past November. "Charlie being at the shop full-time has made a big difference on the team," Thompson offered. "His leadership on raceday has been important but his leadership in the shop the past several months has been critical."

Thompson spent much of the past decade racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and with 100 starts under his belt, he knows what it takes to compete for wins and the championship. "This season is all about winning," Thompson continued. "We are putting all our efforts into this program and we plan to be competitive at every event in order to be in contention for the title at the end of the season."

"Racing at places like All American present unique challenges so you really have to be smart about the choices you make on track. I feel I am a much better driver heading into this season and I am more focused and determined then I have been in a number of years."

Thompson has three starts at All American Speedway since 2008 scoring one top ten finish. "The secret to any short track is qualifying," Thompson stated. "If you qualify up front then you don't have to abuse your tires trying to get to the front. Our goal is to qualify in the top four or five and take it easy for the first 100-laps, then hopefully make a charge late in the race."

"We know the fans will see a great race like they always do at All American and we hope were are the team in victory lane."

Thompson Motorsports is a premier motorsports organization based in Jerome, Idaho providing complete race car preparation and fabrication supporting the local grassroots racer and experienced professional driver. TMS prepares and fields race vehicles in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR K&N Pro Series, CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series, Intermountain Pro Truck Series, and entries at local area short tracks. I-5 CORRIDOR SERIES WEBSITE LAUNCHED WITH INFO, PHOTOS & LOTS MORE

KENT, Wash. — (April 4, 2011) Want to know something about the 2011 I-5 Corridor Series but don’t want to go five different places to find out? We like one-stop-shopping, too, so PGP Motorsports Park and Pat’s Acres Racing Complex are pleased to announce a central information center has been set up where nearly all questions about the Northwest’s premier traveling kart series.

That place is www.I5corridorseries.com, and there you can find schedules, rules, directions and information on incentive programs as well as points, photos and news updates. While you’re online checking the website out, don’t forget to head over to Facebook and like the series page, “Pat's Acres and PGP I-5 Karting Series.”

This year’s I-5 Corridor Series will again focus on a very concentrated class structure, maximizing your time on track time during each event. By using the double race weekend format for eight rounds (two throwaways), travel expenses for those running the entire series will be minimized. The dates and locations are:

· Races 1 and 2: Pats Acres Racing Complex (PARC), May 28-29
· Races 3 and 4: PGP Motorsports Park (PGP), June 25-26
· Races 5 and 6: PGP Motorsports Park (PGP), Aug. 27-28
· Races 7 and 8: Pats Acres Racing Complex (PARC), Sept. 10-11

I-5 Series events at PGP Motorsports Park will also be broadcast online live and can be viewed by following the link on PGP’s website, www.pacificgp.com. Events will also be available for “on demand” viewing afterwards by following the same link. We’ve made adjustments to make viewing events at PGP easier than before, so no information is required — just click on the link and watch.

This season the I-5 Corridor Series will focus almost exclusively on the two segments of the karting industry that have experienced growth in a period of declining participation: Rotax and the SKUSA-based Stock Honda Shifter program. The 2011 I-5 Corridor Series has been planned around the schedules of the SKUSA ProTour, the Rotax U.S. Grand Nationals and the Rotax Pan American Series, allowing Pacific Northwest racers to support both our regional series and the national-level programs.

This season the series will be an official Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Series, qualifying participants for the 2011 U.S. Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals to be held July 19-23 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooelle, Utah. The series will adhere to the Rotax Max Challenge Series structure from top to bottom, using accredited officials and running specified RMC-length heats and mains.

The I-5 Corridor Series is also home to the region’s best shifter kart pilots, using the popular SKUSA stock Honda class structure, and will help prepare racers for this year’s SKUSA's ProMoto Tour and the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas this November.

A new addition to this year’s class structure is the SuperSport 200 class, more commonly known as the Clone class. This class will run at all four race weekends on Saturdays only for 2011, as part of the PARC SuperSport 200 Series Championship Series.

Still have questions? Head over to www.I5corridorseries.com. We’re betting you’ll find the answers, but if not you can always contact either Pats Acres Racing Complex (PARC) at (503) 266-7287 or PGP Motorsports Park at (253) 639-7223.

Jonathon Gomez Left Vegas Disappointed

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (April 3, 2011) Jonathon Gomez of Twin Falls, Idaho was disappointed with his 2011 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour debut last night at The Bullring at Las Vegas (NV) Motor Speedway in the SPEARS Manufacturing "111". Gomez qualified second but started tenth after the invert of the top qualifiers and had worked his way up to as high as second before on-track mayhem ran its course.

Gomez used the early laps to let his tires come in and by lap ten he had moved up to the eighth position. By lap 18 he moved into seventh with his eyes on the leaders.

Tight racing action meant patience was the key skill on a night where everyone wanted to impress in the opening round of the ten race championship series. Gomez waited for his openings and on lap 26 he dove to the inside passing three cars to move into the fourth spot.

Gomez next moved into third on lap 30 and into second ten laps later. The red flag came out on the track on lap 63 stopping the action. Gomez was penalized for having work performed on the car under red and restarted 14th. Something was amiss on the Century Boatland Chevrolet and he never regained the speed he had earlier in the race eventually retiring on lap 97 with a 19th place finish.

Gomez drives a Chevrolet owned by Bob Strandwold in the SRL Southwest Tour with Ron Copeland as his crew chief and is supported on the crew by Craig Raudman, Dave Reed, Derek Copeland, Adam Wyse, and Ty Henson. Gomez is the 2010 defending SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour champion.

Jonathon Gomez is in his fifth year of competitive racing having won local track titles at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls and competed in various Late Model events the past several seasons. Gomez has started twelve SRL Southwest Tour Races and has two wins, nine top-10 and eight top-5 finishes along with two fast time awards. He has also started 21 NASCAR K&N Pro Series races since 2008 scoring ten top ten finishes and finished sixth last season in the final standings. He is already touted as a NASCAR West title contender after finishes of second (Phoenix) and third (All-Star Showdown) in two races this season.

The next event for Gomez and his Heritage Motorsports crew will be Saturday, April 16 at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA for the NASCAR/SRL double header.

Jonathon Gomez is supported by Heritage Cattle Company, Century Boatland, J&C Custom Harvesting, United Oil, Modern Machinery, DJ Safety, and Gomez Farms. Gomez will contend for championships in both the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour and NASCAR K&N Pro Series this season along with making several starts in other regional racing series'. For more information on Jonathon Gomez, please log onto his website at www.jonathongomez.com.
Marketing partnerships and sponsorship opportunities for the 2011 racing season are still available with Heritage Motor Sports and rising star Jonathon Gomez. For a custom proposal and additional information please contact John Gomez at 208/731-1288 or Derrick Shannon at 208/870-8066.

Paul Brown Shows What the Lucas Oil, K&N, Tiger Racing Boss 302S Can Do at the First World Challenge GTS Races of the Season

Covina, California (4 April 2011) - Tiger Racing’s lead driver, Paul Brown, made his presence known at the opening weekend of the SCCA Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge Championships at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix. Brown qualified P2 for the first GTS race and brought home an easy, second place finish in the brand new Mustang Boss 302S. Running the fastest lap put him on pole for the second race, which he then led for the most laps.

While Sunday’s race did not end with a podium finish, Brown seemed very comfortable with the car and said, “This new Boss 302S is just a kick to drive and exceeded our expectations right out of the box. My Crew Chief Adam Cox and the rest of the guys on the team did a fantastic job prepping the car and tuning it to my driving style. I think by Sunday it showed, as we ran the fastest race lap of the weekend even after getting hit and having to replace a tire.”

After setting a new, race lap record for GTS, Brown and the rest of the team are geared up and hard at work getting ready for the next event. We look forward to putting on another great show at the Long Beach Grand Prix being held the weekend of 15-17 April 2011.

Credit and thanks go out to Lucas Oil, K&N Filters, Ford Racing, Baer Brakes, Pirelli Tires, G-Stream, ERP/JRZ, Eibach, Hawk, Kenny Brown Motorsports, Bassani Xhaust, Motive Gear, Tremec, getCondemned, SCT, Moroso, Optima Batteries and, of course, to Wellendorf Performance.
