Tiger Racing’s Paul Brown Stretches His Championship Lead in the Weekend’s Double Header at Infineon Raceway with a Pair of Second Place Finishes

Covina, California (31 August 2011) - Paul Brown once again increased his points lead in the SCCA Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge GTS Driver’s Championship by finishing second in both races of the weekend at Infineon Raceway. Standing on the second step after Sunday’s race, he marked his seventh podium finish of the season thus far. New team sponsors, One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning came on board at Mid-Ohio and the team was also pleased to announce the addition of Luminox Watches at this weekend’s event.

“We’ve been watching how well Paul has done all season and when the opportunity to become involved with a winning team like this came along we jumped at it” said Barry Cohen, founder of Luminox. “In a timed event like racing, where every second counts, it seemed only natural for a watch company to be involved. We’re thrilled to be working with a great group, like the guys at Tiger Racing, and to now be part of their winning team.”

The team was thrilled with the weekend’s race results and when asked to comment, driver Paul Brown said, “We were all looking forward to another good weekend and even though we had the car to win, the focus was to score points and keep our eye on the real prize, the Championship. Going into Rounds 9 & 10, we had one goal in mind and that was to keep it clean, stay out of trouble and finish both races in the best position possible. After leading Sunday’s race, only to lose the lead while managing traffic, was obviously disappointing for the whole team, but overall we’re very pleased with the results.” Brown continued to say, “Unfortunately with multi-class racing, you deal with both faster and slower cars in the other two classes and we are all in our own battles for position. It can be tough to deal with, but it also adds to the drama and excitement for the fans, so we just do what we can.”

Brown leads the GTS Championship with 1249 points, followed by Ben Crosland with 1028, Eric Foss with 1016, Peter Cunningham with 997 and Brad Adams with 757 completes the top five. Ford leads Acura in the Manufacturer’s Championship, 91-48. Be sure to catch the excitement of the past two races when they air on Versus on Sunday, 18 September at 5:30pm EST.
