Jonathon Gomez Ready for Thunder in the Rockies

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (August 5, 2010) Jonathon Gomez of Twin Falls, Idaho will continue his season of firsts as he heads to Kalispell, MT for the inaugural NASCAR K&N Pro Series race at Montana Raceway Park. Gomez, who is currently fourth in the championship standings after seven races, is seeking his first career series victory after posting two top five and four top ten finishes this season.

Gomez is looking forward to the quarter-mile paved oval of MRP after a successful campaign this past weekend posting two top five and three top ten finishes in consecutive races on consecutive days at another quarter-mile track in Idaho. "There may not be much that translates to Montana this weekend," Gomez offered. "We were running Late Model cars but seat time is seat time and we put in 400 laps. That is sure to help."

While Montana Raceway Park is a quarter-mile configuration, the banking and wide corners make it seem bigger. "I have heard a lot about the place and our whole team is looking forward to the race," Gomez said. "We are getting better each time out and we have proven we can run up front. It would be great to get our first win this weekend."

A lot of observers share that sentiment. MRP Public Relations Director, Doug Pace, was at the Idaho 200 this past weekend and observed Gomez first hand. "We have been looking forward to this race all season," Pace said. "This will be a real competitive field and Jonathon Gomez will certainly be one to keep your eye on."

The race this weekend will be Gomez' 18th race of the year as he is competing various racing division all season long. "This is a busy month for us as we are competing every weekend," Gomez said. "We have been running good every where we have been but now it is time for a win in NASCAR."

Gomez sits in the fourth position in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West standings, just 19-points out of third place and 137-points behind the series leader. After seven races he has scored two top five and four top ten performances with his best finish this season of second place at Iowa Speedway back in May. In the SRL Southwest Tour, Gomez is second in the standings just seven points out of the lead on the strength of two dominating wins this season.

Jonathon Gomez is in his fourth year of competitive racing having won local track titles at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls and competed in various Late Model events the past couple of seasons. He has started 15 NASCAR K&N Pro Series races since 2008 scoring eight top ten finishes and is in his first full-time season in the NKNPS. Gomez will contend for championships in both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series as well as the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour this season.

Jonathon Gomez is supported by Heritage Cattle Company, Century Boatland, J&C Custom Harvesting, United Oil, Modern Machinery, DJ Safety, and Gomez Farms. The race from Kalispell will be broadcast on SPEED TV Thursday, August 12 at 4pm MT. The next event on the SRL schedule is September 4 at Toyota Speedway.
