will return home and race at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho where he got his racing start six short years ago. This Saturday night, Gomez will join the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series in their fifth race of the 2012 season.

When Gomez last competed in the series last September, he set fast time and drove from the tail of the field to score the victory. He is hoping for a repeat performance on Saturday in front of family and friends.

In seven career series starts at the one-third mile paved oval, Gomez has two wins, five top five, and six top ten finishes. "I like racing the RMCS," Gomez offered. "It is always good racing and with the format, you have to be good in all phases of the race."

Gomez has been competing full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series where he is currently 6th in the point standings after three consecutive top ten performances. He is also running a majority of the races in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour where he is just inside the top ten after a 14th place finish last weekend in Stockton, CA.

Joining Gomez behind the wheel of a team car will be crew member Derek Copeland who will be making his first start in the series driving the #24 Century Boatland Chevrolet Impala. "We are excited to give Derek a shot behind the wheel this weekend," Gomez said. "It is a lot of work for the team to prepare two cars but we are ready. Plus we want to support Mike (Minegar) and the series. I know Derek will do a great job."

Gomez has 15 career RMCS starts with two wins, eight top five and 10 top ten performances along with five career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. "The series is fun to race and is different then the West and SRL," Gomez said. "It will be nice racing at home after being gone nearly every weekend since February."

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Ron Copeland and supported by Craig Raudman, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.

The next event for the Gomez Motorsports team will be Saturday, June 23 at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, CA for round eight of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Gomez is currently in 6th place in the championship standings.
