Tough Weekend for TC Motorsports at Lime Rock

Auburn, WA, June 11, 2010--With a mechanical issue in qualifying, and two crashes during the race, TC Motorsports had a tough weekend at the fifth race of the 2010 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) season at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut, May 28-29. The second crash of the race was severe enough to prevent the team from racing the #14 Boss 302R at last weekend's Continental Tire 150 at the historic Watkins Glen International in New York, and next weekend's EMCO Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

After two practice sessions, Rick Edwards went out to qualify the #14 Boss 302R. On the out lap, the brakes did not work correctly. It turns out that a small brake part had failed as Edwards rolled onto pit lane. However, per the series regulations, the team cannot touch the car after the car is on pit lane and has been presented for qualifying, so the team sat out the rest of the session, qualifying 31st out of 31 cars.

Starting in 31st at the beginning of the 2.5 hour race, Edwards raced his way up to 17th. Towards the end of his stint, Edwards got spun and put into a wall at Turn 3. During a long pit stop, the team repaired the damage to the left front of the car, and Ted Anthony, Jr. got behind the wheel. Anthony raced back up to 19th but got spun into a wall at the final, high speed, downhill turn with only 20 minutes to go. The damage was too severe to repair in the pit lane, so Edwards and Anthony finished 25th of 31 cars. Both Edwards and Anthony walked away from their accidents without any injuries.

Unfortunately, the Lime Rock race is the only CTSCC race this season that will not be broadcast on SPEED. For photos of the event, go to ColdTrackDays.com and search for posts tagged with "TC Motorsports."

The next CTSCC race to be broadcast is the Continental Tire 200 from Watkins Glen International this Sunday, June 13 at 1:00 pm Eastern (10:00 am Pacific) on SPEED.
