2011 STARS OF PGP KART SERIES SCHEDULE SET
KENT, Wash. — (Jan. 14, 2011) How do you make something pretty good even better? By keeping what works well and adding MORE VALUE.

That’s what we’ve done with the popular Stars of PGP Kart Series, maintaining the focus on providing a racer-friendly format that maximizes seat time while actually reducing fees from the previous year for our members. We also will be announcing cost incentives for frequent flyers, a contingency program and other elements designed to increase participation.

PGP is proud to be able to offer a local single-track racing program in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. The nine-race 2011 Stars of PGP Karting Series will have many improvements over last year’s first full season. The facility is constantly being upgraded: the pit area will be tripled in size, there will be a paved access road into the fully paved paddock, real restrooms and so much more.

Another new perk for 2011 will be the extension of PGP’s race weekend format to give competitors exclusive use of our state-of-the-art track for practice on Fridays. Three Saturday only events and 3 dual Saturdays and Sunday events will follow our tried-and-true schedule with practice, qualifying, heat races and a main event each day.

To keep things moving classes will be combined so the Stars of PGP Kart Series will ensure maximum seat time for all participants. Being in the seat and flying around PGP’s state-of-the-art asphalt track is exactly where Northwest kart competitors want to be — rain or shine.

Want more value? How about combining the Stars of PGP Kart Series with the visit to PGP by the I-5 Corridor Series on June 25-26 and Aug. 27-28? PGP regulars won’t have a problem taking part in the I-5 Series at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex either, because we haven’t scheduled any kart events on those dates.

And we have an added bonus! PGP will be operating a new Wednesday night Motorsports event that will combine two kart classes (Shifter and Rotax) with Supermoto, Drifting and timed SCCA-style Lap Attacks. A fast-paced, action-packed evening race with food vendors, beer gardens and spectators — yes, spectators — cheering on their favorites.

With six possible course configurations — including the full .82-mile, 14-turn circuit — subtle elevation changes, a 30-foot wide track and a main straight approaching 800 feet in length, PGP’s layout is designed to be challenging but fun to drive. Horsepower can be an advantage at the South end, where longer straights and hard braking corners allow for maximum passing zones, but the North end is very technically rewarding to the pilots with the best driving skills.

In addition to trophies for the top finishers in each class during monthly rounds, competitors will be eligible for prizes, giveaways and contingency awards through their series participation. A substantial amount of time and money was spent during the construction of PGP to mitigate all water issues. More than two miles of drain pipe sits under the specifically formulated asphalt that includes additional polymers and hardeners that increase the traction in the wet. This means you can expect great racing rain or shine year round.
