Caddell and Jenkins Brothers Racing Hard Work Rewarded at Bark River

When young racer, Andrew Caddell arrived for TORC rounds 7 and 8 at the Bark River, MI off road race facility, his #43 Traxxas MOPAR Ram truck was tied for the points lead in the Pro Light category. But since this was one of his favorite tracks and his knowledge of the team’s performance on longer venues, he was optimistic about his chances.

When he was finally able to get onto the track for the Friday qualifying session, Caddell quickly showed he was right! He hustled the truck around and despite having to lap 2 trucks during the session, he put his Traxxas/BF Goodrich/AMSOIL/King Racing Shocks/Simpson/SafeRacer/AiM Sports truck on the important pole position for Saturday's round 7 race.

At the start of the race Caddell got a great jump and quickly settled into running fast, clean laps at the front of the pack and pulling away from second place running teammate Samuel Hübinette. At the competition yellow Caddell had built up a 4 second lead but it all went away and he would have to push hard again to get away. When the race went back to green Caddell would pull away to another 4 second lead and continue on to win his second race of the year while running the races fastest lap to win the Traxxas MAXX Lap award.

"That's how I wish every race would go," exclaimed Caddell "The team gave me a great truck today and the BFGoodrich tires hooked up all the way around the track in changing conditions, which was proved by BFG’s 1-2-3 sweep of the podium today. I can't wait until tomorrow to go for another win and get the Jenkins Brothers Racing team another 1-2 finish."

Heading into Sunday's round 8 racing Caddell felt really good about how the day would go and was looking forward to getting another win for the team even with the inverted starting position from round 7’s finishing results.

From his 6th place starting position, Caddell would move up to 4th on lap one and quickly move to 2nd on lap 2 then set his sights on catching his teammate and race leader Samuel Hübinette. Caddell would work hard for about a lap and a half to get to his rear bumper and the two would battle hard but clean without any position change until the competition yellow interrupted the fun. During the yellow Andrew reported the truck was great and that he would race Sam hard but since they were both so equal, it may take a mistake on Sam’s part to make a clean pass.

Once back green Caddell would hound Hübinette and show a nose in a couple places but could never make a clean pass and with Caddell's nearest championship rival out of the race he just decided to settle for another podium finish in 2nd place while again turning the races fastest lap and winning the Traxxas MAXX lap award.

"Another great day for the Jenkins Brothers Racing team." said Caddell "Once I heard Currie was out of the race, I was just pushing hard, trying to force Sam into making a mistake but he never did. If it wasn't my teammate I would have pushed a little harder and went by as I think I was a little faster but I knew if we could finish where we were it was going to be a good points day. Winning races is always the goal but the bigger goal for us this year is the season championship. My JBR team works so hard and just keeps making these trucks better and better and that's bad news for the rest of the competitors. I can’t wait to get the Crandon in a few weeks for more racing!”

Andrew Caddell and the rest of the TORC warrior's next event is Labor Day weekend September 2-4 at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. This will not only be the always spectacular World Championships but the weekend will start early on Friday with the postponed (rain) round 4 races from earlier this year where Andrew will try to extend his streak of 6 straight podium finishes while starting his 200th career race!

About St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Since the hospital was founded in 1962 by Danny Thomas, St. Jude's has made amazing advances in the treatment of pediatric diseases. In 1962, the survival rate for childhood leukemia was less than 5%; today, advances made by St. Jude Children's Hospital have ensured a survival rate of 94%. Other strides include Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (7% survival in 1962; 85% today) and brain tumors (10% in 1962; 85% today). At St. Jude's, no child is turned because of a family's inability to pay, so the support that comes from donations is essential.
