Redding, CA (June 22, 2011) Craig Raudman of Redding, CA is excited to return to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series this weekend at the picturesque road course of Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA June 24-25. John Gomez, owner of Heritage Motor Sports, announced that work commitments would prevent Jonathon Gomez from competing in several upcoming races, so he opted to rent out the team the rest of the season. Dave Reed and Ted Davidson quickly put a deal together with Gomez for Raudman to pilot the #22 Approved Memory/Davidson Equipment Sales/Heritage Cattle Co. Chevrolet in the Thunder Valley Casino Resort sponsored event at the 1.99-mile road course on Saturday.
For the past three seasons, Raudman has acted as crew chief and driver coach for Jonathon Gomez and the opportunity to get back behind the wheel was just too good to pass up. Though it has been more than a decade since the former NASCAR Southwest Tour champion has driven in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, Infineon is a track where he had his best career finish.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of a K&N Pro Series car," Raudman said. "I am really looking forward to racing at Infineon. It is a fun place to race and as challenging a track as there is anywhere. You flat have to be good and make no mistakes."
While Raudman is thankful for the opportunity, he knows this is a team effort. "Blaine Bergen (Car Chief) has been amazing getting this car together," Raudman offered. "He works none-stop every day of the week and his commitment to the team puts us in a position where we feel we can win and perform at a high level. He has been the go to guy the last two years."
Longtime sponsors and friends of Raudman are also the cornerstone of this effort. "Dave (Reed, owner of Approved Memory) and I are really best friends and I would never go racing without him," Raudman said. "With Dave and Ted (Davidson, owner of Davidson Equipment Sales) putting this deal together with John and giving me this opportunity it is really special."
Raudman had his best career NKNPS finish at Infineon back in 1997 when he finished fourth after leading most of the race before mechanical gremlins surfaced in the closing laps. He also won at Infineon in the old NASCAR Southwest Tour back in 1997.
Raudman has started 19 races in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West from 1996-2000 where he scored one top five finish along with seven career top ten performances. His best points finish was 13th after the 1998 season.
Craig Raudman is supported by Approved Memory, Davidson Equipment Sales, Heritage Cattle Company, and Century Boatland. Craig Raudman won the 2001 NASCAR Southwest Tour championship and has been a race winning crew chief in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series for the last five years.
