Minegar and Bell Tough at Stateline Stadium Speedway

Bell Scores 4th Place Effort While Minegar Slides to 7th in Idaho 200
BOISE, IDAHO (August 3, 2010) The Minegar Racing team owned by Pat Minegar has set the standard in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series over the history of the series winning two championships and owning nearly every statistical record in the books. While records are nice, competing in and winning big events carry prestige as well.

This past Saturday night for the RMCS Duel for the 200, Dave Minegar of Boise, Idaho scored his series leading 23rd career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award to lead all 22-qualifiers for round seven of the ten race series. Minegar would start from the 20th position after the invert while his teammate Craig Bell of Kuna, Idaho making his first start of the season would start 16th after qualifying fifth.

Bell the defending event winner did not appear to have any rust as he was fast all weekend and steadily moved his Body Building.Com Chevrolet to the front. Minegar was equally as fast and had moved into the 8th position by lap 45 and began to close on the top five when his ignition went south for the third race this season. Minegar coasted into the pits on lap 50 ending his night in the 18th position despite having the fastest car on track to that point.

Bell continued his assault on the on the top five but could only get to the sixth position by the end of the race. Bell's points finish for the evening also locked him into the Sunday's Idaho 200.

On Sunday, both Bell and Minegar had fast race cars and were eager for the Idaho 200 to get underway. The race would be run in two 100-lap segments so the first 100-laps was all about survival and being in position to race the second segment.

Minegar and Bell both steadily moved through the field in the first half and made it inside the top five battling each other for most of the segment. As the first segment drew to a close, both Minegar Racing pilots had their cars running second and third. The challenge during the break would be not to dial themselves out of contention.

When the second segment started, Bell and Minegar traded positions as Minegar was dealing with a tight condition causing the nose of his car to slide up the track. Bell meanwhile stayed in the top five for the entire second half and finished in the fourth position. Minegar dropped back to seventh where he finished.

"These races are a lot of fun but they are even more work," Minegar said. "It was a long weekend and I am just glad we had two competitive cars and we rolled them into the hauler with no damage. We were better then our finish indicates but I'll take it."

For Bell it was just fun to be driving again. "I had a lot of fun this weekend," Bell said. "Even though I wanted to take some time away from driving this season, I do miss it. The team did a great job all weekend."

While Bell is not in the points chase, Minegar still maintains the fifth position in the standings just four points ahead of sixth place Bruce Quale and 69-points behind fourth place competitor Lynn Hardy. Minegar is still 156-points out of the overall lead and he could conceivably close in on the top spot but it would be a tall order over the final three races.

"For us it's all about winning the rest of the season," Minegar said. "If we win or contend for the wins then we will gain back some points. We are not even focused on the championship other than rooting for Steve, John, Brett and Lynn. Whoever wins this thing will be great. Another first time champion is great for the series."

Next up for the Minegar is the RMCS NAPA 125 at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley, Utah August 21 where he has two victories. This season he has finishes of 4th, 6th, and 13th at RMR.
