TC Motorsports Improves Results at Homestead Miami

Auburn, WA, March 12, 2010--TC Motorsports continues to improve its finishes in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC). Drivers Ted Anthony, Jr. and Rick Edwards finished 19th in the Homestead 200 at Homestead Miami Speedway on Saturday, March 6, 2010. It was the second race for the team in CTSCC, and the first race for the #14 TC Motorsports Mustang Boss 302R. The 19th place finish is an improvement over the team's 31st place finish in the first race of the season and the first race for the team in CTSCC.

The team took delivery of the new Boss 302R on March 2 at Carolina Motorsports Park, and had the car on track for the first time two days later at Homestead Miami Speedway. With the team just having two sessions with the car, Edwards qualified the car 22nd out of 33 cars in the Grand Sport (GS) class. After some cars failed post-qualifying technical inspections, the #14 moved up to 18th on the grid.

However, the team was not able to capitalize on its improved grid position because the car was late to grid. So, Edwards started the 2.5 hour at the back of the 33-car GS class. Edwards made the best of the situation, though, racing as high as 10th during his stint. During the second yellow flag period of the race, Edwards pitted from 11th for tires, fuel, and to install Anthony in the car. Anthony rejoined the race in 29th and raced all the way to 4th, keeping pace with the leaders.

The race was a bit of a gamble for the team. Because of the team's limited amount of time with the new Boss 302R (only a handful of sessions), they had limited data as to how far the car could go on fuel. So, the team decided to roll the dice and see how long they could keep Anthony out on track. As it turns out, Anthony was forced to make one more stop, from 4th, for fuel. He rejoined the race in 19th, which is where he would finish.

Team Principal Carlo Sparacio said, "We're really happy with the new Boss 302R from Ford Racing. It performed well right out of the box. As with the last race, we are happy with our performance during this race. Both the team and drivers did a great job, so as we get more time with the new car, we'll get the results we're looking for." The next CTSCC race is Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL.
