BOISE, ID (May16, 2013)- The
CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series returns to
Rocky Mountain Raceways located outside Salt Lake City, UT this Saturday night for round two of the 2013 campaign. 18-year old
Trevor Cristiani leads the standings after picking up his first career victory two weeks ago at Magic Valley. The RMR layout is a favorite for all the drivers producing some of the best side-by-side racing.

Since 2004, there have been thirty previous series races staged at the 3/8-mile paved oval known as the Horsepower Heaven.
Steve Jones of Meridian, Idaho has been the most consistent driver at the high-baked oval over the last eleven races scoring five wins and finishing in the top four in ten of those eleven races.
Jones, the 2011 RMCS champion may be the odds on favorite at RMR but there are several drivers looking to dethrone him including 2012 series champion
Bruce Quale.
On Quale's bucklist is a win at RMR, something that has eluded him since he started racing in the series. "I love racing down there and have always been pretty good," Quale said. "Luck has not been on our side but we hope to change that this year."
Challenging Jones and Quale will be Cristiani. He and his family relocated to Meridian, Idaho from northern California over the winter and will contest the full RMCS schedule in 2013. He is off to a fast start after picking up the win at Magic Valley. "I enjoy the series," Cristiani said. "It is very competitive but a lot a fun at the same time. The win at Magic Valley was pretty cool, but we certainly have our work cut out for us at RMR."
Brian Levant out of Calgary, Canada is the track record holder in qualifying with a quick lap of 14.906 seconds around the fast oval. Up for grabs this weekend is a $400 bonus from Thompson Motorsports who will reward the
Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award winner if they can go on to win the race. Since the RMCS inverts up to 20-cars for the feature, this award pays for performance on track. If the award is not claimed at RMR then it will roll over to the next event making the bonus worth $600.

Chris Fenton out of Boise will make his first visit to RMR this weekend providing a who new challenge for the young team. Fenton is a long-time veteran of local Late Model racing at Meridian (ID) Speedway but has stepped up to the RMCS this season. Joining Fenton in the rookie class is 16-year
Hannah Newhouse driving the familiar #61 Thompson Motorsports entry.
Also joining the rookie class and making his first series start will be local competitor
DJ Osborne. Osborne and crew have been working for more than a year in preparation for joining the series and will contest the remainder of the 2013 schedule. "We were so close to getting everything done to make the first race but just needed a few more laps behind the wheel to sort the car out," Osborne said. "I am excited to finally compete in the series and look forward to racing at RMR this weekend."
In the 30 previous races at RMR there have been 14 different race winners with eight drivers winning more than once led by Jones (5). Other multi-time winners include: James Eaton (4), Zan Sharp (3), Lynn Hardy (3), Dave Minegar (2), John Dillon (2), Jeff Hillock (2), and Eric Rhead (2).
Eibach Springs Inc. has joined the RMCs as an official contingency sponsor awarding the race winner with a $50 product certificate. At the conclusion of the race season, Eibach will reward the series champion with a full set of racing springs.
Mark your calendars for the first annual
Century Motorsports & Marine Southern Idaho "200" June 13-15 at Magic Valley Speedway. The special non-points event will feature racers from across the west competing for over $35k in prize money making it the richest race in series history.
The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 14th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.
