SPEEDNET DIRECT CONTINUES TO KEEP TRACK OF THE JOE GIBBS DRIVEN RACING OIL ASA MEMBER TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Wednesday, April 7, 2010) - For the third year in a row, Speednet Direct based out of Crystal River, FL will be busy tabulating the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship. Three years ago, Speednet along ASA created a propriety formula to help decide the National Champion.

What makes the formula unique, is that it is not simply based on where a driver finishes in an event. It is multiple factors what make up the unique average that will determine who will win the tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing.

"When Dennis and I sat down to create this formula, we wanted to make sure that it helps the tracks create some of the most exciting racing at their track," Kevin Spiddle, President of Speednet Direct said. "Along with that each track must have at least 14 events to have an equal shot with the other ASA Member Tracks."

When asked what some of those factors are, Spiddle gave a list but quickly said this is in no particular order as to what weighs more over the other. Some of those factors are: feature finishing position, feature wins, feature positions improved (cars passed), car count, number of events, and season points champion.

In order for the formula to work correctly for a competitor, they must have at least 14 events on record in order to get an accurate average and they must also be the track champion for 2010. The drivers in the top division at each eligible track will be in the running for the championship.

Since the inception of the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship many track promoters have done their part to help their drivers get the opportunity of a lifetime. They now focus on making sure they have at least 14 events and some have increased the inversion of their feature event so their top drivers can earn more passing points. Which, in the end, gives the fans from great entertaining and exciting racing as they watch their fast drivers work their way to the front of the field.

"In our first two years, the formula has worked very well in two areas," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "The first is that the best driver has won the championship and the second is that it has been very close and competitive. It's fascinating to watch is how the standings shift when we reach drivers reach 14 events, some who haven't been at the top start showing up and it makes it very interesting to watch."

In 2008, Cary Stapp of ASA Member Track Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX was crowned the first National Champion. He won the championship over Linny White of ASA Member Track Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA. Stapp had an average of 5.1794 to White's 5.0947.

Last year, Tommy Cloce won the National Championship over Clint LaFont of Thunderhill. Cloce had an average of 5.0893 where LaFont had an average of 5.0300.

The championship will come to a close on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at midnight.

ASA will announce when the 2010 standings will start to be posted at www.speednetdirect.com.

Drivers eligible for the National Championship must race weekly at an ASA Member Track along with being the 2010 track champion.
