CarbonX, the world leader in fire protective clothing, returns for the sixth season as title sponsor of the popular Late Model touring series serving the Intermountain West. The series will stage ten races this season at three distinctive tracks within the region. Magic Valley Speedway will host five races including a
$10k to win 200-lap event June 15.
Local Twin Falls business
Century Boatland/Century Motorsports will sponsor the marquee event in June which is already receiving interest from drivers from across the region. Since 1985, Century Boatland/Century Motorsports has been the area headquarters for new and used recreational, pleasure, and fishing boats, along with a complete line of snowmobiles and motorcycles.
Bruce Quale of Twin Falls, Idaho claimed the 2012 series championship in dominating fashion scoring eight top five finishes including one victory en route to the title, is back in 2013 to defend his title against long-time rival and 2012 titlist
Steve Jones. Both Quale and Jones cut their racing teeth at
Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, and the schedule certainly favors MVS veterans with five races on three different weekends.
The series will open the 2013 campaign on Saturday May 4 at MVS with return trips on June 14 and 15 for the big double-header Century Motorsports 200 weekend. The series will return August 9 and 10 for another twin bill.
Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley, UT will host the series three times with events on May 18, July 6, and the season finale on September 7. The series will close out the season at RMR for the first time providing fans and competitors a must attend event for crowning the series champion.
Meridian (ID) Speedway will once again stage a spectacular two-day event on July 26-27 with a full racing program on both nights. Last year, the event drew the largest car count of the season to the tricky quarter-mile paved oval.
Meridian Speedway icon and multi-time champion
John Nesmith, plans to attack the 2013 schedule with everything he has in pursuit of the series championship. Nesmith recently purchased a brand-new car for his title run and will team with and mentor up-and-coming racer Dennis Brodigan. "I had more fun racing last year then I have had in a while," Nesmith said. "When I retire from racing I do not want any regrets, so we are focused on winning races and the championship this season."
The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.
The series is supported by a great family of sponsors including: CarbonX, Century Boatland/Century Motorsports, Project Filter, ESI, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Sharp Powder Coating, Five Star Racing Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tires, Frank's Radios, Longacre Racing Products, Performance Solutions, Kidd's Performance and Dyno, Joes Racing Products, PPG Paint, Circle Racing Wheels, and Mike Minegar's Auto Body.
