Through the first ten races in the Commercial Tire Super Stock division, the feature NASCAR Whelen All American Series class at the speedway, Newhouse has nine top five and ten top ten finishes including three victories, two second place finishes, four third place performances, and a ninth place effort. She is hoping to become the youngest ever female feature division champion.

She has already established historical records becoming the first female to win in the feature class at Magic Valley and is firmly in the NASCAR record books as the youngest ever female feature event winner in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series.

"Our goal is to win the track championship," Newhouse said. "We have already accomplished a lot this season but there is a lot more racing to do. If we can continue doing what we have done so far we will achieve our ultimate goal, and that is win the track championship."

Newhouse may be one of the most talented young racers behind the wheel in America but she also drives for a world-class racing team. Thompson Motorsports, owned by Rich Thompson a successful business entrepreneur in Jerome and managed by Brett Thompson a veteran of NASCAR competition, fields and maintains the Chevrolet Camaro that Newhouse drives.

"Hannah is holding her own and has been real impressive so far this season," offered Brett Thompson, Team Manager. "She listens really well, provides good feedback to the crew, and is very poised behind the wheel. We definitely want her to succeed and have an opportunity to move up in the sport. We believe in her and have a lot of confidence in her ability."

Newhouse is back in action this Saturday night in NASCAR Whelen All American Series at MVS where she will compete in two main events to make-up for a rain out two weeks ago. This past Saturday, Newhouse scored her first ASA Intermountain Pro Truck Series victory and backed that up with a third place effort in a special double main event. She was rookie-of-the year in the ASA trucks last season and is currently second in the point standings this season.

The Thompson Motorsports team will also be back in action in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series at Colorado National Speedway located north of Denver this weekend with 18-year Braeden Havens behind the wheel of the #61. Havens has made four starts for the Thompson Motorsports team this season and has proven himself in competition visiting new racetracks where he has never competed. Havens has been running at the conclusion of each race with a career best finish of 8th.

"Braeden has done a real good job this season," Brett Thompson said. "He is a real clean driver and knows how to take care of the car. I believe he is going to have a great run at Colorado and compete for the win."

After the race in Colorado, the team heads directly to Newton, Iowa for the next event Friday, August 3 at the 7/8-mile banked oval of Iowa Speedway. Brett Thompson will be back in the drivers seat for that event in a new chassis purposely built for the faster and bigger tracks on the circuit.

Gomez Hoping for New Heights Colorado

BUHL, IDAHO (July 24, 2012)- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland/Living Like a Pirate Chevrolet, is looking forward to round Gomez in K&N Car ten of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series as the series embarks on the final third of the season. This Saturday night, Gomez is hoping to continue his climb in the point standings with top finish in the NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota "150" at Colorado National Speedway located just North of Denver.

The 3/8-mile paved oval has been home to nine previous NKNPS events with seven different winners and eight different Coors Light Pole Award winners. This track is favors an up front starting position as the deepest a previous winner has come from is 14th (Steve Portenga in 2001) though the race has been won from the pole position only twice.

In nine starts this season, Gomez has three top five and six top ten performance and has been running at the conclusion of each event. "We have run really well this season and we get better each week," Gomez offered. I am looking forward to the Colorado race. The track is bumpy but it is wide and fast. We have a good setup that I know will work on Saturday."

In his only previous start at CNS, Gomez finished 13th in 2010. "As long as we qualify up front we are going to be OK," Gomez said.

Gomez has steadily climbed back into the championship hunt after a 24th place result in the opening race at Phoenix back in March. Gomez has three top five and six top ten performance this season and has completed 99% of all laps contested and has been running at the conclusion of each race in 2012.

Gomez currently sits sixth in the standing after nine races just 15-points our of fifth place and 68-points behind the point leader Dylan Kwasnieski. Third through sixth in the standings are only separated by 42-points.

Gomez has made 36 career starts in the NKNPS after making his series debut at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on July 11, 2008. In 36 career races he has eight top five and 18 top ten performances. He has a career best finish of second place twice (Iowa & Phoenix).

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Craig Raudman and supported by Ron Copeland, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.

Montana Race Rewind
This past weekend, Jonathon Gomez and his team competed in the 22nd annual Montana "200", one of the marquee Late Model races in the region. While he had hopes of a victory, the team demonstrated perseverance by overcoming several issues with a used car purchased a week before the event and had only two days to prepare the car for competition before traveling to Kalispell, MT.

Gomez qualified a disappointing 33rd out of 42 cars putting him in the "C" main. He won the 40-lap event transferring in the "B" main but just missed the cut finishing 8th. Gomez would start on the pole for the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) and would lead every lap making his way into the 26-car field for the 200-lap feature.

Gomez started 20th and worked his way into the top ten by lap 75 and never dropped out of the top ten the rest of the event. He eventually finished 8th in the race.

JUNIOR RACE PERFECT FOR NEW KARTERS OR THOSE LOOKING TO HONE SKILLS

KENT, Wash. — (July 12, 2012) No driver winning races and earning trophies today started at the top of the ladder. They learned how to go fast by taking classes and applying what they learned in karts like PGP's Briel rental fleet.
To help PGP's younger customers hone their skills, we're pleased to offer a Junior Race on Wednesday, July 18. This special event is open to drivers 12-14 years old who have completed PGP's Junior Racer driving class (more on our schools below) and are at least 5 feet tall as we'll be using full-size karts.
PGP's rental karts are THE platform for your young driver to learn the skills needed to move up to competitive racing, and the Junior Race on July 18 is the perfect opportunity for kids with little or no race experience as well as those looking to improve their track skills.
The Junior Race includes a practice session, qualifying, a heat race and a final event, with breaks between each segment — the same format used in PGP's exciting Saturday Morning Rental Kart League Racing series. Driver sign-in closes at 5:30 p.m., with a mandatory drivers meeting at 5:30 p.m. and racing begins at 6 p.m.
Between segments of the Junior Race, the track will be open for drop-in rentals so parents will have a chance to get their racing fix in, too!
Pre-registration for the Junior Race is required by calling (253) 639-7223 or in-person at the track. Cost is $85 for members, $95 for non-members.
PGP's Junior Racer classes cost $75 and are held throughout the week for your convenience. More information and registration forms for race schools can be found on our website, or contact the track by phone for other class options.
Plan now so your young karter won’t miss out on this chance to mix it up with his or her peers on PGP’s award-winning track in the Junior Race on July 18.

Gomez Excited to Return To NASCAR K&N Pro Series

BUHL, IDAHO (July 10, 2012)- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century
Gomez headshot
Jonathon Gomez set to make second NASCAR K&N Pro Series Evergreen Speedway start this weekend.
Boatland/Living Like a Pirate Chevrolet
, first visit to Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA back in 2008 resulted in a top ten performance in only his second start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. This Saturday, Gomez is hoping for some of that same Monroe magic in round nine of the 15-race championship series.

Gomez currently sits in the sixth in the point standings after a seventh place performance in the series last event at Sonoma (CA) Raceway three weeks ago. A solid result this weekend will go a long way in the championship standings as he is only 7-points out of fifth place and 71-points out of the top spot.

Gomez last competed on the 5/8-mile super speedway of the west two weekends ago at the Late Model Summer Showdown, and while he was among the fastest drivers all weekend qualifying second, he was involved in a mid-race accident destroying his Late Model.

"I was really disappointed about the finish at Monroe for the Summer Showdown," Gomez said. "We were fast and had a car that could have won but that's racing sometimes. I am focused on this weekend and really think we have a car that can win our first K&N Pro Series race."

After a 24th place finish in round one at Phoenix back in March, Gomez has finished no worse than 16th with five consecutive top ten performances completing 99.5% of all laps in competition. That consistency has vaulted him back into championship contention.

"In this series if you are not consistent then you are not really in the hunt," Gomez said. "We need top five finishes from here on out if we hope to make a run at the leaders."

Gomez in K&N CarThe NKNPS also demands strong qualifying efforts as rarely does the winner come from outside the top ten. "Qualifying is one area we are still working on each race," Gomez said. "While the layout at Evergreen is larger than most short tracks we race, we still need to start up front as the track can get pretty narrow."

The team's next NKNPS start will be July 28 at Colorado National Speedway. Gomez has made 34 career starts in the NKNPS after making his series debut at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on July 11, 2008. In his 34 career starts he has seven top five and 16 top ten performances. He has a career best finish of second place twice (Iowa & Phoenix).

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Ron Copeland and supported by Craig Raudman, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.

$44,000 RAISED DURING KART CHALLENGE FOR SEATTLE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

KENT, Wash. — (July 6, 2012) By any measure, the 3rd annual Northwest Historics Kart Challenge charity endurance race held Friday, June 29 at PGP was a huge success. The paddock was full of spectators enjoying vendor displays and watching more than 90 drivers on 23 teams race to benefit Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) by raising $44,000.
This year's amount makes an amazing three-year tally of $127,000 raised during the yearly NW Historics Kart Challenge held at PGP. Additionally, an incredible number of donated toys — and $400 to buy more for SCH patients — were also collected.
The top fund-raising team was Special Hope (Advance Fire Protection) with $7,575. Runner-up was Rainier Wealth Management with $3,120, followed by Team Exsillio ($3,109), Team Seattle ($3,100) and Team Seattle Symetra ($2,985).
The battle for supremacy on the track was fierce and incredibly close, with the top three battling for the lead most of the two hours, but in the end it was Team Xccel taking top honors with 82 laps completed in 2 hours, 1 minute and 5.200 seconds.
Xccel Racing and J&L Fabricating, the second- and third-place finishers respectively, crossed the stripe just seconds behind the winners, and LeMay-RedTeam also recorded 82 laps to finish fourth. Team Seattle rounded out the top-5 with 79 laps.
The fastest lap of the event was turned by Kyle "Disco" Wick of J&L Fabricating, a blistering 1:19.459 in the team's 68th lap. Disco's fast lap was part of an amazing surge for J&L, which started 18th, moved into the top-3 and was leading the field with 10 minutes to go before dropping back to finish third.
Kidney Stone Racing was another big mover, falling back to 24th at one point before rallying in the closing stages of the race to finish 12th.
Complete results for all teams can be found at mylaps.com. To see more photos from the 3rd annual NW Historics Kart Challenge at PGP to benefit Seattle Children's Hospital, visit our Facebook page.
