Gomez Tops RMCS Field for Third Career Victory

BOISE, ID (June 20, 2012)- Jonathon Gomez from Buhl, Idaho only races a handful of CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series races these days as his racing schedule is pretty full competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour full time. But when the opportunity to race at the track where he got his starts comes up, he makes time.

This past Saturday, Gomez showed why is is one of the top racing talents on the West coast as he dominated the 100-lap CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series event at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho. Gomez was the fast qualifier claiming his sixth career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award and therefore started at the tail of the field as is customary in the series. By the two-thirds point of the race he had made his way to the front and never looked back.

"We had a great car for the race and it is always fun to race with the RMCS," Gomez said. "I love racing at Magic Valley and to win at home is pretty cool. You have to work pretty hard as a driver in this series and be patient. Once we got to the front it was a matter of holding Jason and Bruce as those guys had fast cars." Watch local news video recap of the race here.

Gomez' Century Boatland Chevrolet was followed to the line by Jason Jefferson who made his first start in the series in the Dave Reed Racing/Voli Ford Fusion. Bruce Quale finished third keeping his streak of the five finishes alive. Quale has finished no worse than fourth this season and his having his best year in the series. "Since Jonathon and Jason are not in this championship I decided to play it safe and not push the issue," Quale said. "On a night like this, a third place finish is like a win."

2010 series champion Steve Jones rebounded from two consecutive tenth place efforts to finish in fourth place with Derek Copeland driving a team car to Gomez rounding out the top five in his first career start.

The second five were led by Thane Alderman who makes the long tow from Las Vegas, NV for each event. Alderman however missed the last race after his transporter broke down midway between Vegas and Salt Lake leaving the team stranded for more than five hours. Once repairs were made, Alderman and his crew were unable to make it to SLC in time for the race.

A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Rookie-of-the-Year leader Tyler Bailey had an eventful race. The rookie fought a loose condition all race and spun his Project Filter Chevrolet on two occasions while running among the leaders eventually finishing in the seventh spot. 2007 series champion John Newhouse made his second start of the season and finished eighth. Newhouse is spearheading his daughter, Hannah, racing efforts this season which will see the 15-year rising star in his RMCS car later this summer.

Title contender and most recent RMCS winner John Nesmith finished ninth to keep his title hopes alive after five of eleven races with Jeff Wade making his first start of the season and finishing tenth.

Bruce Quale (919) added to his point lead over Steve Jones (817) who moved back into second place. John Nesmith (815) drops one spot to third with Rookie Tyler Bailey (690) holding onto fourth place over Rick Fowble (623). The next race for the RMCS will be July 7 at Rocky Mountain Raceways outside Salt Lake City, UT. The event will be the third of four races scheduled for the series at the high-banked fast 3/8-mile paved oval. Lynn Hardy and John Nesmith have scored the two victories at RMR this season but look for Steve Jones to return to championship form having claimed four wins at RMR in the past two seasons.

CarbonX, the world leader in fire protective clothing, is in its fifth season as title sponsor of the RMCS. Along with Century Boatland based in Twin Falls, the two companies provide significant event and series support. Since 1985, Century Boatland has been the Magic Valley headquarters for new and used recreational, pleasure, and fishing boats.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.

The series is supported by a great family of sponsors including: CarbonX, Century Boatland, Project Filter, ESI, A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Sharp Powder Coating, Five Star Racing Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tires, Frank's Radios, Performance Solutions, Kidd's Performance and Dyno, Joes Racing Products, PPG Paint, Circle Racing Wheels, and Mike Minegar's Auto Body.

17 Year Old, Jessica Dana is Competing in the “Biggest Race on the West Coast”

Monroe, Wash. — (June 29th – 30th, 2012) Washington’s 17 year old racing sensation has entered her second season of racing in the Nascar Super Late Model Series, and is announcing today that she will be competing with the Dana Commercial Super Late Model Race Car, in the 200 lap, Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway; Monroe, Washington, on June 29th and the 30th, 2012.
With just 14 races under her belt, the Super Speedway of the West will be Jessica’s first experience with speeds approaching 150 mph and first ever experience on the 5/8 mile track.
“I loved the track and the people at Evergreen,” said Jessica, after her first ever appearance this year at Evergreen, on the 3/8 mile track. Jessica and fellow teenage female racer Molly Helmuth were pole and outside pole respectively on the second main event of the night, to the crowd’s delight. For the first time in the history of Evergreen Speedway, two women competed in the region’s top class.
Jessica’s father and JDR’s team manager, Troy Dana said “We are excited about the Summer Show Down. Doug Hobbs and his team at Evergreen Speedway put on a great race. Our expectations are fairly modest at this point, given the caliber of the teams who have already signed up for the event. Our biggest concern is for safety given the increased speed, the 40 mile per hour Karts, from a year ago, were a lot less stressful,” (Troy Dana, 2012).
Doug Hobbs, owner of High Road Promotions and Evergreen Speedway states, “We are thrilled about Speed-week, June 25th to June 30th. This will be the largest race on the West Coast. We are thrilled to have tour, track and regional Champions competing with young stars like Jessica Dana, Garret Archer, Braeden Havens and Molly Helmuth. This event will truly showcase the present and future of our sport,” (Doug Hobbs, 2012).
Jessica’s racing season would not be possible without great sponsors, such as OBEE Credit Union, Dana Commercial, Pints and Quarts, Rivers Edge, Advocare, Print Northwest, 94.5 Roxy, Fusion Graphix, Putnam Lieb, and Knight Fire. 2012 sponsorships are still available.
Special thanks to Citris Designs, D&D Dyno Engineering, and the Pacific Cascade Mustang Club for all their support.

Admiraal Racing To Make Mark in NASCAR This Season

EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA (June 13, 2012)-
When Menno Admiraal, owner of Admiraal Racing
and Western Camp Services, looked across the
racing landscape he saw promise, opportunity, and
a challenge for his Edmonton based operation.
In the world of racing, NASCAR is at the top
of most racing ladders and his team hopes
to become the next Canadian based team to
make its mark in the premier racing series in North America.

wcs logo

Racers like Paul Tracy, Patrick Carpentier, Alex Tagliani, and
Jacques Villneuve had made their mark in open-wheel IndyCar
racing but fewer have had success in NASCAR. The Admiraal
Racing team is taking a deliberate approach in climbing the NASCAR
ladder.

Following the lead of competitors like JR Fitzpatrick, D.J.
Kennington, Andrew Ranger, and Daryl Haar who have made
the jump to NASCAR, the team will compete in a variety of stock
cars this season with brothers Ian and Kelly Admiraal behind the
wheel.

Ian Admiraal (19), a sophomore in college studying Business,
will compete primarily in the

NASCAR Whelen All American Series at his home track of
Edmonton International Raceway in search of not only the track title,
but the national title as well. Through two races this season
his best finish is a fourth place effort but sits solidly in the
point standings.

Ian Admiraal

Ian Admiraal

"The season has not started how we would have liked,"
Admiraal said.
"You put the last race behind you and move on to the next.
We will push hard all season and I know we can bounce back
and be in the thick of the points battle down the stretch. It is
still early and we have a lot of racing to do."

For his part, Kelly Admiraal (17) will embark on a very aggressive
racing schedule competing in four different series' this season. He
will compete in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series, NASCAR
Canadian Tire Series, and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West
part-time making select starts the rest of this season.
He will also focus his attention on winning the
Dakota Dunes Super Late Model championship.

Kelly Admiraal

The younger Admiraal brother will be a senior in high school
this fall and has an impressive racing resume' that includes
competition in Outlaw Karts, Sprint Cars, and Super Late Models
in nine years of racing.

"This season will be nothing short of a challenge," Kelly
Admiraal said.
"I am extremely excited to compete in all the series' and
gain a lot of experience in different cars and at different
tracks. I know this will be the most fun I have ever had
driving and it will definitely be a wild ride."

Fielding a team based in Edmonton and trying to
gain traction in NASCAR can be challenging but the
Admiraal Racing team is up to the task.
"The Harr's (Carl and Daryl) have been successful in the K&N
Series and Cameron Hailey has made the jump this season
so we are following in their tracks," Amiraal said.
"The biggest thing we need to do is learn and create a
presence within the media and NASCAR community.
We are up for that challenge."

The team has opened a race shop in northern California to
house the NASCAR K&N Pro Series operation as well
as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series cars.
"It made sense to partner with folks who have
experience in the series and familiarity with these
cars," Admiraal added.

Admiraal Racing is owned by Menno Admiraal, a successful
business entrepreneur and owner of Western Camp Services
Ltd.based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The team is lead by
Driver/Director of Race Operations Ian Admiraal and supported
by crew members: Theo, Badge, Daniel, Nolan, Adam, Dan and
Ben. Admiraal Racing has corporate partnerships with Western
Camp Services, Paradise RV, Gee & Gee Racing, and
Emond Racing.

The Admiraal Racing schedule for 2012 will feature the team
competing in over 24 races in four different racing series though
November. For the complete schedule click here. You can follow
the Admiraal Racing team all season long on their website, at
NASCAR Hometracks.
About Admiraal Racing
Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Admiraal Racing team
competes in a variety of racing disciplines throughout the year
including circle track racing, drag racing, and ice racing. The team
is owned by Menno Admiraal who also is president of
Western Camp Services, the largest independently-owned camp
and catering company in
Western Canada. Western Camp Services provides services to the

Quale Leads RMCS into Magic Valley Speedway

quale at mvs

Bruce Quale driving the #92 Dish Network Chevrolet.

BOISE, ID (June 13, 2012)- For Bruce Quale, driver of the
#92 DISH Network Chevrolet, racing at Magic Valley Speedway holds
a lot of great memories and a place where he has claimed five track
championships and nearly 100 victories. But despite all of his success
at the tricky paved oval, he has one lone victory in the CarbonX Rocky
Mountain Challenge Series and he intends on changing that stat on
Saturday night.

The RMCS returns to MVS on Saturday for round five of the
11-race championship series where Quale leads the championship
standings having his most productive year in the series. Quale holds
a 42-point advantage over John Nesmith and has finished in the
top five in each race this season.

Since 2006, Quale has been one of the most accomplished drivers
in the series at Magic Valley scoring one win and backing that up
with 13 top five finishes. In his RMCS driving career, Quale has started
49 races (tied with Tom Hill for 4th all time) and is fifth all time in
both top five (23) and top ten (33) finishes.
bruce and thane
Thane Alderman (L) and Bruce Quale talk strategy.
"When we started this season we had talked about finishing
every race in the top five and so far it has worked out," Quale said.
"This series is so tough and to be leading the points is a real
testament to the team. We have had some tough outings but
still managed to rally and finish well."

One of the big changes in Quales program this season is his new
engine program from Kidd Performance. "Our car has always
handled pretty well but we used to get smoked on the straights,"
Quale offered. "Now we have a bullet that can definitely keep up.
We really noticed it at Salt Lake two weeks ago and I can't wait
to see what we can do at Magic Valley. Plus with the new shock
package from Mike Naake, we are more consistent then we have
ever been."

Several familiar faces will return to the series this weekend along
with a couple of newcomers. And that suits Quale just fine.
"You race who shows up," Quale stated. "I am really excited to see
some of the names on the entry list. It will be a great show."

Some of those names include former series champions John Dillon
(2009) and John Newhouse (2007). Dillon is set to debut a brand
new race car fresh off the dyno if the team can make the complete
the finishing touches. Dillon has three wins and five top fives at
MVS with his most recent win coming in this event in 2010.

Another local favorite returning this weekend is Jonathon Gomez,
whose team will field two cars in the race. Gomez has two wins
along with five top five finishes at his home track and in his last
visit to the speedway last September he set fast time and won the race.
In the second team car (#24 Century Boatland Chevrolet) will be
Derek Copeland who will make is first career series start.

Another driver making his first career series start is Jason Jefferson
who will be driving the Dave Reed Racing/Voli Light Vodkas Ford Fusion.
Jefferson is taking a break from his team duties at Gene Price
Motorsports this weekend to race and will make select starts in
the DRR #15 throughout the rest of the season. Jefferson's best
finish of 3rd at MVS came several years ago in the now defunct
NASCAR NW Tour.

"I am really excited to race at Magic Valley," Jefferson said.
"The track is really fun to drive and the fans are awesome.
Dave Reed has put a great team together and we look forward to the race."

As the series reaches the mid-way point of the season, Mike Minegar
(President of the RMCS) is pleased with how things have gone
and is excited about the future. "Racing is a tough business and
you are only as good as your last event," Minegar said. "It is great
for the series to have past champions return along with guys like
Jonathon and Jason. John Gomez and his Century Boatland
company mean a lot to the series and I am thrilled that they
are back with us this weekend."

Other drivers expected for the race include Craig Bell, TJ Woodhall,
Morgan Rasmussen, Travis Monett, Rick Fowble, and Thane Alderman.

year in the series. Steve Jones rests in the third position
53-points behind Nesmith. A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning
Rookie-of-the-Year leader Tyler Bailey sits fourth with
Rick Fowble rounding out the top five.

Nesmith is the most recent series winner having claimed the
victory at RMR two weeks ago. This event is the second of four
races slated at MVS this season with a 200-lap race on August
11 and the season finale on September 15 still to come.

CarbonX, the world leader in fire protective clothing, is in its
fifth season as title sponsor of the RMCS. Along with
Century Boatland based in Twin Falls, the two companies provide
significant event and series support. Since 1985, Century Boatland
has been the Magic Valley headquarters for new and used
recreational, pleasure, and fishing boats.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional
touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts up to the top
20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start
each race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for
and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per
position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for
qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series,
the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position.
To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total
point accumulation for the event and provides several special
performance awards at each race.

The series is supported by a great family of sponsors including:
CarbonX, Century Boatland, Project Filter, ESI,
A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning, Sharp Powder Coating,
Five Star Racing Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tires, Frank's Radios,
Performance Solutions, Kidd's Performance and Dyno,
Joes Racing Products, PPG Paint, Circle Racing Wheels,
and Mike Minegar's Auto Body.
Spectator gates open at 4pm with a full compliment of
racing action on tap starting at around 6pm.

will return home and race at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho where he got his racing start six short years ago. This Saturday night, Gomez will join the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series in their fifth race of the 2012 season.

In seven career series starts at the one-third mile paved oval, Gomez has two wins, five top five, and six top ten finishes. "I like racing the RMCS," Gomez offered. "It is always good racing and with the format, you have to be good in all phases of the race."

Gomez has been competing full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series where he is currently 6th in the point standings after three consecutive top ten performances. He is also running a majority of the races in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour where he is just inside the top ten after a 14th place finish last weekend in Stockton, CA.

Rose Cup Promises One Mother of a Father's Day for Local Cindi Lux

ALOHA, Ore., June 11, 2012 -The Portland Rose Festival's Rose Cup Races have become a tradition in the Northwest as closely tied to the annual city celebration as any other activity. Cindi Lux has never known any other way to spend the June weekend but at the region's largest gathering of racers. The Aloha, Ore.-resident's father, Dick Hahn (Yakima, Wash.), won the inaugural event 52 years ago and in 2011 Lux became the highest-placing woman in the history of the Rose Cup Feature Race by finishing third. This Father's Day, Lux will attempt to join her Dad on the list of storied winners when she rolls out the No. 5 SRT Viper Competition Coupe Fueled by Black Rock Coffee against a daunting cast of characters who specialize on the 1.967-mile, 12-turn Portland International Raceway road course. The 45-minute race pitches a wide-variety of nearly unrestricted racecars against one-another on June 17 and assures to live up to its tradition as one of the most hotly contested club events of the season. It promises to be one mother of a Father's Day when the green flag falls for the top event of the multi-race weekend.
Lux again brings an exciting group of partners to the Rose Cup this year. Chief among those is the return of the SRT Viper Competition Coupe to the Northwest's most celebrated club event. First through its Dodge brand and now with SRT, the Viper platform has had a dominating racing history since 1989. Lux first piloted the V10-powered machine in 2005 dominating the SCCA Club T1 category with SRT10s until 2007. For 2008, the Oregon Motorsports Museum Association Lifetime Achievement Award-recipient moved into the SCCA Pro World Challenge Series with the Viper Comp. Coupe. In 2012, she returns to the factory driver ranks with SRT driving a freshly-built Competition Coupe while also overseeing the two-car Viper ACR-X "Celebrity Program" in the SRT Viper Cup.
Lux has raced the Viper platform three times in the Rose Cup. In 2009, she brought the World Challenge-ready Viper Comp. Coupe before turning to the then-new ACR-X in 2010. Last year the 1999 Women's Global GT Series Champion returned to the Competition Coupe. Earlier this year, SRT - now a stand-alone marque under Chrysler - announced both a new-for-2013 road going Viper and the SRT Viper GTS-R for American Le Mans Series GT racing competition. The move highlights SRT's commitment to top-level motorsports through its road-going product line.
Fueling Lux is Black Rock Coffee Bar (www.BlackRockCoffeeBar.com). First teaming together in 2011's Rose Cup, Black Rock found the event and partnership with Cindi Lux so successful they have upped their on-site commitment and support. The Portland-based Black Rock Coffee Bar roasts its premium blend of coffee locally ensuring the freshest espresso possible. Endeavoring to find the perfect balance of flavors, Black Rock pushes the boundaries of what is possible with the daily cup of 'Joe', to stir things up a bit and to throw a little edge on the coffee biz.
Black Rock brewed its first coffee at its first store in Beaverton in early 2008. Today, they span from Seattle to San Diego with nine Black Rock stores in the Portland-area and continued substantial growth planned in the coming months.
Since 1995, Slacker Inc. (www.SlackerInc.com) has showcased the creativity, attitude and spirit of a brand through grassroots marketing and motorsports. Originally begun as a clothing line, the company quickly moved into vehicle graphics and apparel for race teams across the country. The products and services have expanded over the years to include embroidery, screen-printing, logo design and marketing activation.
The Rose Cup weekend brings over 400 drivers across multiple races in multiple classes to the PIR circuit. Lux will compete for the overall Rose Cup title just as her father did in 1961 when he won the inaugural race. The category is a rare exception to today's highly "spec" car racing series. Entries are widely divergent ranging from thoroughbred racecars to road based entries - like Lux's Viper - in the "all-comers" race. This has led to some of the sport's hottest cars all competing for the Rose Cup.
Quotes
Cindi Lux, Driver, No. 5 SRT Viper Competition Coupe Fueled by Black Rock Coffee:"It wouldn't be summer without attending Rose Cup Races. With the announcement of the SRT Viper returning to ALMS, the energy within SRT is massive right now and I am really excited to be racing the Viper Competition Coupe at the Rose Cup again. I started my driving career with Chrysler under the SRT banner so it's nice to be back home. The only thing that revs me up more than a big V10 engine pulling me around PIR is a Black Rock espresso! Black Rock is so tuned-into this event! They are pulling out all the stops. Last year I thought I had seen everything a local company could do to promote their product but this year everyone at Black Rock has turned-up the grinder to 11! You add Slacker, Inc., who is so cutting edge with their design and social media work, to the mix and I can promise you, no matter what happens on track, people will remember what we brought to the event! This is going to be flat-out FUN!"
Daniel Brand, Head of Operations, and Black Rock Coffee Bar: "Teaming with Cindi Lux and the Lux Performance Group for the second consecutive Rose Cup is a great opportunity for the Black Rock Coffee Family. It is a great feeling partnering with other Portland-based family businesses in this prestigious and uniquely Portland tradition. The attitude, experience and all-around enjoyment of life make this a weekend that we love to participate in! Our experience last year was so good and the results so successful that we couldn't wait to roll the No. 5 SRT Viper Fueled by Black Rock Coffee back out to take another couple steps up the podium this year! All involved have a work hard-play hard attitude, which makes this a great time. From watching the team put together a successful race car to seeing Fred [Lux] pop wheelies on The Crippler while the Black Rock Crew provides the caffeine and loud music in the background, the Rose Cup is sure to be fun and exciting again this year!"
Jason Myers, President, Slacker, Inc.: "We are all about fast cars and fast women at Slacker Inc. I think that's how racing started: race on Sunday, date on Monday. Cindi Lux brings the whole package and then some when it comes to fast cars and faster women with the SRT Viper package. The Lux name has been a part of the Rose Cup Festival for many years. For Slacker, Inc. to be a part of that as a marketing partner is big for our company. We have been ramping up the event with Cindi and crew on some social media projects I think the fans will like. Last year, the weather couldn't keep her down from a podium finish, this year she comes out with a vengeance for the win. Black Rock Coffee is back as a team partner in 2012 and let me tell you, Cindi hopped-up on fine coffee behind the wheel of a badass American race car is nothing but trouble!"
