"Terrible" Tim Welcomes New Sponsor -

Tacoma, Washington –

8-28-2012 – "Terrible" Tim McDougald welcomes Fast Track Sims to the #68

Toyota Camry.

Joining the team for the rest of the 2012 season is Fast Track Sims, manufacturer

of Simulator Racing equipment. The internet based company manufactures their own line

of Sim Racing boots and gloves as well as a full line of multiple monitor mounts and full

racing cockpits that bring the ultimate in realism to your Sim Racing experience. "I'm

totally excited to have Fast Track Sims on board," said "Terrible" Tim McDougald.

"There is a pretty big group of us here in the Pacific Northwest who also race on iRacing.

Fast Track Sims makes some awesome products for Sim Racing and I'm excited to have

them on both the Sim car and the real car. I think this will be a great partnership and I'm

looking forward to representing them here at the speedway as well as online."

iRacing is an internet based racing simulator that brings the ultimate in realism to

computer racing. "I started Sim Racing late last year, I love the iRacing deal. We have a

lot of fun on there and it's a good way to practice or try things with the setup. Plus it

keeps me from going crazy when I haven't been at the track in a while, like this year. You

can run all kinds of different cars, from Legends and Street Stocks up to Cup cars. I tend

to stick to the Late Models since that's where my passion lies. And it's always nice when

you wad up the Sim car, you just hit 'escape' and start again. And with the offereings that

Fast Track Sims has, you can really get into it. I've seen some setups that you forget that

it's a Simulator; it just looks and feels so real. Short of a real car, coupling iRacing with

the Fast Track Sims products is about as good as it gets." For more information on

iRacing, visit
http://www.iracing.com.

For more information on Fast Track Sims, visit
http://www.fasttracksims.com where you

can find a full listing of all their product offerings. Be sure to catch the #68 Fast Track

Sims Toyota Camry and driver "Terrible" Tim McDougald at Evergreen Speedway this

weekend during the Evergreen State Fair.

HayWire Racing Headed To The Fair

Tacoma, Washington –

8-28-2012 – HayWire Motorsports will be joining the competition again at Evergreen Speedway during the Evergreen State Fair, bringing both the #92 Mo-Dane Trucking / RPM Sales & Service / Vital Signs Chevrolet Impala driven by Tommy Rasmussen as well as the #68 KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Cornwell Tools / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry driven by "Terrible" Tim McDougald.

After sitting on the sidelines for the last few weeks, Tommy Rasmussen is anxious to get back to the action. His season took a big blow when the team started losing the engine in his #92 Mo-Dane Trucking / RPM Sales & Service / Vital Signs Chevrolet Impala during the Summer Showdown several weeks earlier. Rasmussen chose to park the car before fully losing the engine, which meant that he would not make the Main Event of one of the marquee events at his home track, a decision that was very tough for him to make. In the end, it proved to be the right one, as the team was able to save the engine before things got very expensive. Rasmussen will be looking to rejoin the competition and pick up where he left off, with another solid run and strong finish.

"Terrible" Tim McDougald's season has been anything but "normal". After 2011 proved to be the most trying season in his career, McDougald came to the speedway for the opening race of 2012 looking to just get back to the basics. The goal was to use the race as a test session to find something that would work as a baseline setup. After a dozen pit stops for adjustments throughout the race, things would go from bad to worse as McDougald found himself in the wall before the race would end. The damage to the car was enough to put "Terrible" Tim on the bench for the rest of the season. But after a lot of hard work, the team finally put the car back together in time for the coming race during the Evergreen State Fair, an event McDougald enjoys running due to the large crowds on hand. Still looking for that elusive baseline, McDougald will be simply looking to find the checkered flag at the end of this one, a much simplified goal than he has had in past seasons but one that hasn't been so simple for him recently.

Fielding two cars has proven difficult for the small family run team earlier in the season, but they look forward to the challenge again. With a limited number of resources and help, putting two cars on the track together proves to be a logistical nightmare for the Graham based team made up of a Father, Mother, two brothers and a couple friends. Just finding enough people to fill all the rolls the team needs is one of the biggest challenges. "We struggle just to fill all the rolls you have," said "Terrible" Tim McDougald. "Most teams just put a single car on the track and they have crews of like 8 or 10 guys. We have about 5 or 6 of us, including our two drivers. So when you try to find a spotter for each car, at some point you need guys in the pits to work on the car, each car really needs its own 'crew chief', now split that up between two cars. It's a big deal just to fill all the rolls. Dad tries to crew chief both cars, that's a huge task just to keep track of all the moving pieces. When you put a spotter up in the stand, that removes him from the pits so he isn't an option to come work on it when something needs adjusted or fixed. It's a big disadvantage. Most the time we end up with one crew chief for both cars and one or two pit guys who have to work on both cars and then the spotter situation becomes 'who can we get this week?' But we love going to the track as a family, and we do it because it's what our family does. Some families go fishing, we go racing. It's in our blood."

With a hefty task ahead of them, HayWire Motorsports will come to Evergreen Speedway during the Evergreen State Fair looking for a solid outing as they put both cars back in the action. Don't miss all the action as the small family team returns to their home track after a long absence.

HULL BROTHERS FINISH FIRST AND SECOND IN MERIDIAN MINI STOCKS

08/16/2012 By Jon Brown

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Two drivers who picked up their first main event wins of 2012 at ASA-sanctioned Meridian Speedway benefitted from the hard luck of drivers in front of them Wednesday night.

On a night themed as the Brasher’s Auto Auction Hornet Massacre, it was the drivers from the regular racing divisions of the Pit Stop Drive Mini Stocks and the Domino’s Pizza Legends that were slipping and sliding all over the paved quarter-mile oval.

Jonathan Hull of Boise, Idaho won the Mini Stocks main event when the race leader fell off the pace in the final laps. Mike Cullum led the final 23 laps of the 35-lap Legends feature after the race leader had to leave the track for repairs while the event was under one of its six caution flags.

Hull was running in third place with five laps left when race leader Jeff Waldemar of Kuna, Idaho, spun through the infield after contact with second-place Donovan Parker from Garden City, Idaho.

Hull went to the front, and his brother, Larry Hull III, assumed second as the race stayed under green-flag conditions. Parker fell back to third place.

Jonathan held off Larry over the final few laps to add a main event victory to the Fast Dash he had won earlier in the night.

“I’ve been waiting for this day all year,” Jonathan said. “I’ve had a rough year. I’ve only won heat races.

“There at the end, I was holding my brother off. We didn’t wreck, so it’s all good.”

The Hulls finished in the same 1-2 order in the Fast Dash, with the same physically demanding run to the finish that featured contact between their two four-cylinder racecars.

In other main events:

Big Tuna, with Stanley Irons of Boise, Idaho aboard, won the Thunder Dog race in which reigning division champion and overwhelming fan favorite Cat Fish had to be towed off the track after a debilitating encounter with an opposing car.

Dave Edmark of Edmark Chevrolet won the Brasher’s Auto Auction Hornet Massacre after the two racecars in front of him exited the racetrack after taking the white flag with one lap remaining. The 20-lap race featured personnel from Southern Idaho auto dealerships, and a couple of professional drivers who also are connected with car sales.

Thomas Harrod of PBT Auto won the 18-lap Hornet Massacre Pro feature for drivers who have had experience on the racetrack.

At the beginning of the season, Mike Cullum didn’t want to race. Midway through the year, he wasn’t sure if he could race again.

In Wednesday’s Domino’s Pizza Legends main event, the hometown driver found out why it’s good to stick around.

After starting the night with a Fast Dash win, Cullum held off Kuna, Idaho’s Casey Tillman to win a 35-lap main event punctuated by six caution flags.

“I love running with Casey,” Cullum said after thwarting the No. 92’s inside-out attempt in the waning laps. “He’s clean. I’ll tell you what: He made this fat boy work.

“It’s fun racing with these kids.”

Among the “kids” was Cullum’s daughter Jenna.

After winning the Fast Dash, Mike said he would have been content not driving in 2012 and helping his daughter out. But a friend talked him into rolling out his No. 27 Legends Woody with the surfboards painted on top, convincing Dad that it would be a blast to compete against Daughter.

Then Mike Cullum’s racecar burst into flames one night at the racetrack, putting the future of his season in serious doubt.

He returned Wednesday night for the Brasher’s Auto Auction Hornets Massacre and annihilated the field.

Cullum finished ahead of runner-up Tillman in claiming both his checkered flags.

The Legends main event was peppered with accidents. Early race leader Jonathan Davis of Emmett, Idaho, was force to exit the track under a yellow flag with 25 laps remaining because he was dragging a bumper.

Star, Idaho’s Charlie Fiscus assumed the lead, and Davis never saw the front of the pack again. However, three laps later, Fiscus spun while leading and opened the door for Cullum.

Cullum led the race’s final 23 laps and held off Tillman in another restart after Davis spun in front of the lead pack with six laps left.

In the 20-lap Thunder Dogs race to cap the night, the competitors finally found a way to end Bootlegger’s run of success.

You must spin him out and spin him out hard.

Bootlegger (Sean Hackworth of Caldwell, Idaho) was taken out of the lead on two separate occasions. First, Bull Dacious (James DeMello of Boise) did it, and then Big Tuna (Stanley Irons of Boise) arrested Bootlegger’s progress to open the gates for a victory.

Idaho Competitor Returns to one of his Favorite Tracks

BUHL, IDAHO (August 3, 2012)- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland/Living Like a Pirate Chevrolet, is looking forward to round Gomez in K&N Car eleven of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series as the series returns to one of the finest racing facilities in America, the Iowa Speedway, for the running of the Pork Be Inspired "150" on the .875-mile paved oval.

The event tonight is the second East/West combination event of the season for the NASCAR's top regional series and the seventh time both series' have gotten together at Iowa.

The Iowa Speedway is a .875-mile paved oval with the turns banked 12-14 degrees, four degrees banking in the backstretch and 10 degrees banking in the frontstretch. The starting field is 36 cars, including provisionals. The first 28 cars will qualify through two-lap time trials while the remaining eight spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race will be 150 laps (131.25 miles) and will be run in two segments with a midway break at or near the conclusion of Lap 75.

Gomez has one top ten finish at Iowa Speedway back in 2010 when he finished 8th overall and second among his West counterparts. He hopes to better that mark tonight as he makes his fifth start at Iowa. "This is always a tough race and the East team are really good," Gomez said. "We have a really good car and looking forward to running up front all race."

In ten starts this season, Gomez has three top five and six top ten performance and has been running at the conclusion of each event. "We have run really well this season and we get better each week," Gomez offered. I am looking forward to Iowa. The track is one of the finest places to race and we have always been pretty good there."

Gomez has three top five and six top ten performance this season and has completed 98% of all laps contested and has been running at the conclusion of each race in 2012.

Gomez is seventh in the standing after ten races when a cut tire in the final laps of the Colorado event last weekend dropped him from 6th in the running order to 15th place at the checkered flag

Gomez has made 37 career starts in the NKNPS after making his series debut at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on July 11, 2008. In 37 career races he has eight top five and 18 top ten performances. He has a career best finish of second place twice (Iowa & Phoenix).

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Craig Raudman and supported by Ron Copeland, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.

Colorado Race Rewind
After starting ninth at Colorado National Speedway last weekend, Gomez stayed in the top ten for 137 laps of the 150-lap race distance climbing to as high as sixth place. When a late caution came out in the last ten laps, Gomez has to pit when his right front tire started to lose air. The resulting pit stop dropped him out of contention when he rejoined the field four laps down to finish 15th.

The finish also dropped Gomez to seventh in the point standings just eight points out of sixth place and 23-points out of fifth place.
