SURREY, BC, CANADA (Thursday, March 15, 2012) – ASA Advance Testing BC Late Model Tour President John Ross announced a five-race event at four tracks schedule for their 2012 season. The ASA sanctioned series will compete at Agassiz Speedway, Penticton Speedway, Saratoga Speedway and Western Speedway during their sophomore season.

The announcement comes on the heels of an agreement with the participating tracks. “As many of you know, the past few months have been a challenge as we have worked hard to bring the rules together and make it easier for all Late Model Sportsman cars across the province to be competitive and race wherever & whenever they would like,” Ross said in a letter to his competitors. “We felt strongly that it is in the best interest of racers to keep the series running this year, and continue to work together on a definitive rules package that will be unified across the entire province in the future.”

Ross did also personally thank the competitors for their participation last season. He also said that it is his intention to offer a fun, competitive and transparent platform for the British Columbia Province drivers to showcase their talents and hard work.

SATURDAY’S PGP 100 IS A FLAT-OUT SPRINT FOR $100 ON PGP’S OVAL TRACK

KENT, Wash. — (March 12, 2012) Have you got what it takes to win an all-out 100-lap sprint in one of PGP’s Birel N35 rental kart on our oval track? If you think so, come out this Saturday, March 17 for the PGP 100 and prove it.

Some races are endurance contests, testing the driver’s skill and ability to maintain focus over a period of time. Other races are designed to reward the driver who can get up to top speed quickest and then hold off the field over the short haul.

Saturday’s PGP 100 combines the best of both as you’ll need to be flat-out for 100 straight laps to earn the winner’s prize of a $100 PGP gift card and universal acclaim as PGP’s fastest oval karter.

But don’t be fooled into thinking it’ll be easy racing on the oval track, just having to turn one direction: one mistake and the rest of the field will go by you so fast you’ll think you’re broken down on the interstate.

The PGP 100 is open to anyone 15 or older and the entry fee is $75 per driver. Pre-registration can be made in person or by phone, and we’ll close entries at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The race will be run rain or shine.

There will be a practice session beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by timed qualifying. After qualifying the pole winner will draw a random number to determine how many positions the starting field will be inverted.

After the field is set the race will be a straight 100-lap dash to find out who PGP’s fastest oval racer is, with a $100 gift card and bragging rights on the line. Are you fast enough, and good enough to win?

Brett Thompson Has Interesting Run at Phoenix

JEROME, IDAHO (March 6, 2012)- Brett Thompson driver of the #61 RTTI Chevrolet left Phoenix Int'l Raceway this past weekend with a battered race car, a broken motor, and a 12th place finish in the season opener for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.

"It was definitely not the way we wanted to start out the season but it is what it is," offered Thompson.

Brett Thompson sustained damage in closing laps at PIR

The race was only slated for 50-laps placing pressure on teams to qualify towards the front. Thompson qualified 20th on the grid and had moved his way through the field in a race that ended up being a sprint with few caution laps.

But when the caution did fly late in the race, it bunched all the cars back together two-by-two for the restart with less than 20-laps to go. One of the cars up front missed a shift on the restart which stacked the entire field up as cars ran into each other.

Thompson sustained front end damage to his RTTI Chevrolet closing off the radiator opening. The race stayed green and Thompson held a top ten position until the last lap when his engine started to fail and he limped across the finish line in the 12th position as his engine expired.

"We ran OK and finished," Thompson said. "There is not much you can do when they stack up at the restart since we are all bunched tightly together. It is disappointing to lose an engine in the first race but the team did an excellent job all weekend and we feel we are ready for the rest of the season."

The rest of the season, Thompson will split time in the #61 with driver Braeden Havens who will make his debut with the team on April 14 when the series visit Lake Havasu for the first time.

While at Phoenix, the Thompson Motorsports team was honored with the Spencer Clark Foundation Award honoring the driver/team that best exemplifies charity and contribution to the sport and community.

PGP ANNOUNCES MONTHLY DASH FOR CASH CONTEST

KENT, Wash. — (March 2, 2012) Some race for the thrill, others for the glory. But at PGP we have an even better idea: COLD HARD CASH!

PGP is pleased to announce our new Dash for Cash program, a month-long battle to see who the fastest racers are in our fleet of Birel N35 rental karts and reward them with some folding green ... dead presidents ... cheese ... moolah ... dough ... bread ... clams ... You know — MONEY!

Here’s how it works:

The contest is open to all PGP Arrive and Drive customers. You show up at PGP, pay the Dash for Cash entry fee of $10 on top of the rental session fee, and then go out on the designated track configuration in one of our Birel N35 rental karts and turn the fastest laps you can.

Your $10 fee will be added with all other entrants in the 100% payback cash prize. At the end of the month the whole cash prize will be split between the three drivers posting the fastest times that month: 50% to 1st, 30% to 2nd and 20% to 3rd.

To keep things as fair as possible, minimum driver weight will be 190 lbs. Drivers weighing less than the minimum will be provided with ballast weight to get them up to 190 lbs.

A new leaderboard had been created to display the current month’s fastest laps along with the current total of the cash prize.

The track configuration for March is South Long Reverse.

So what are you waiting for? Head out to PGP and show everyone what you can do behind the wheel. Who knows? You just may get paid for it.
