HELMUTH WINS NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH FOR SPOT IN WINNER’S CIRCLE PROGRAM

SACRAMENTO, CA (January 20, 2012) – The annual talent search known as The Shoot-Out always sorts out the top talented young drivers from across the nation. Making the Shoot-Out is an honor in itself. Winning the Shoot-Out and earning a spot in Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver development program, along with big sponsorship dollars, is the goal. In the previous year’s Shoot-Out 14 of the 933 drivers that applied made the cut. This year only 9 super talented young drivers won spots from the 965 applicants for the RSWC program and Star Racing Supply sponsorship dollars. “We had slightly more apply for 2012, however we were simply more selective in this year’s Shoot-Out,” stated RSWC Owner Ron Sutton.

With the driver search complete, nine new talented drivers coming from all over the US will join the returning 11 drivers from last year’s RSWC driver roster. These 20 drivers, each with $6,000 to $25,000 of sponsorship dollars from Star Racing Supply, will train and race with the RSWC driver development program with the goal of working their way up the ladder to professional stock car careers. Each driver stood out uniquely and drove impressively in the Shoot-Out to earn a position in the RSWC program.

Among the highlights in the class of 2012 is 16 year-old female driver Molly Helmuth of Seattle Washington trains in go karts but races three different types of stock cars at her local track Evergreen Speedway. In 2010, Helmuth was voted Washington State Driver Rookie of the Year as well as Rookie of the year in Mini Stocks becoming the youngest ever driver to hold this honor.

2011 was her year of progression as Molly set the track record and posted two podiums in the Mini Stock as well as two podiums in her rookie season in the Pro 4 Truck and made a Late Model debut at the end of the season. In the 2011 Driver Shoot-out Molly showed a smart and coachable attitude while being aggressively fast in the USAC Focus Midgets.

"What an exciting group of talented drivers we found in this year's Shoot-Out,” stated head of development, Ron Sutton. "We were more selective in this year's interviewing process and it shows. We are very fortunate to have these impressive young drivers join our development program. We've already started class room training and I can't wait to get to the race track with them."

The race season begins shortly for these 9 drivers but the off-season has been busy already with testing and classroom training sessions. The new season begins on March 31 with many of the new drivers competing in the USAC Focus Midgets Madera Gerhardt Classic event at Madera Speedway in Madera, CA, and with NASCAR Modified openers on April 7 at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, CA.

WARM WEATHER, HOT RACING AT STARS OF PGP KARTING/SUPERMOTO EVENT

KENT, Wash. — (Jan. 11, 2012) Beautiful weather delighted racers and fans alike for Round 4 of the Stars of PGP Karting/Supermoto series on Sunday, Jan. 8. Sunny skies, temperatures in the 50s and majestic Mount Rainer as the backdrop provided the scene for awesome on-track action. Once again the combination of karting and SuperMoto proved to be exciting for everyone at the track.

Shifters
Once again the shifter classes showed why they are a perennial fan favorite. With 16 of the region’s finest shifter drivers on the grid for Round 4, one need look no further than PGP to see that shifter racing in the Northwest is back in a big way. Having all that raw talent battling on PGP’s track was an amazing sight to see, and all signs point to even bigger fields this year, too, as PGP has some exciting shifter announcements to make in the future.

As has been the case for most of the season, Sean Naslund continued to show impressive speed in Stock Moto Light, sweeping the event and narrowly missing fast time of the race to a hard-charging Russell Francis. In Open Moto, Brian Nixon snatched his third final race in a row with John Wright taking a strong pre-final win.

Stock Moto Heavy looked to be another strong showing for the McKean family, with father Bruce taking pole and the pre-final victory. However a mechanical failure for Bruce in the final allowed Chuck Eaton to secure his third victory in four events.

Rotax
In Rotax Senior, Derek Wang kept his unbeaten streak alive and continued to show why he has driven multiple times for Team USA at the Rotax Grand Finals. Derek grabbed the pole in qualifying en route to victories in the pre-final and final. Parker McKean did not make it easy, though, providing a strong challenge to Derek in both the pre-final and final. As this was Parker’s first race at PGP this year, look for him to be an even larger threat to Derek’s dominance in Round 5.

The spirited battle between Luke Selliken and Jake Preston was the highlight in Rotax Junior. Jake won the pole and pre-final but Luke was practically glued to his rear bumper throughout the race. The final looked to be more of the same intense competition but a mechanical issue on Jake’s kart kept him out of the mix and Luke cruised to victory in his first trip to PGP this year.

In the Mini-Max class, Edward Portz showed excellent speed, often running lap times very close to those of the much more powerful Rotax Junior machines. Look for Edward to be a tough competitor to beat in the upcoming season.

SuperMoto
The SuperMoto action continued to heat up with the group’s second appearance in the combined format with young Dominic Cameron wowing all in attendance with a blazing-quick performance. Riding his 65cc bike, Dominic was able to match pace and even beat some of the much larger SuperMoto bikes. Look for Dominic to be a force to be reckoned with as he moves up through the ranks.

In Open Am, Ryan Sutton demonstrated on his way to sweeping the day’s races that road-racing style can still be blindingly quick on the SuperMoto track. Jim Martin and Scott Claboe provided an awesome battle for second all day with their differing styles of riding producing some very close racing.

Round 5 of the Stars of PGP is slated for Sunday, Feb. 5, with karts and SuperMoto again combined. Heading into the final two events of the series, point battles are getting hot and heavy, which means hard-charging and fierce racing is sure to be the result. Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action!

Richard Petty Driving Experience announces 2012 dates at Evergreen Speedway

(Concord, N.C.) January 9, 2012 This summer, for the first time ever, NASCAR fans, racing enthusiasts, and thrill seekers will all have the opportunity to Drive or Ride-Along in a NASCAR race car with Richard Petty Driving Experience (RPDE) at Evergreen Speedway.

June 26, 27, and 28 marks the first time RPDE will operate at the 5/8 mile facility in Monroe, Washington. DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Monday, January 2, 2012) - ASA Racing would like to congratulate Steve Beitler on his second Auto Racing Promoter of the Year (ARPY) Regional Award. Stewart Doty of Racing Promotion Monthly (RPM) informed Beitler, who is the Promoter of Skagit Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Alger, WA, on New Years Day that he is the Rocky Mountain Region Six Promoter of the Year.

"This is a great way to start the new year, I had just got out of church and there was an email on my phone informing me of the selection," said Beitler in a track release. "This award really belongs to the whole team at the track, I am really fortunate to have the people around me that love this place. The fans, the racers, the officials and the employees are really what make this all happen, it is a total team effort".

This is the second award that Beitler has received in the last month. Recently, at the 43rd Annual Western Auto Race Promoters Association (WARPA) Conference in Portland, OR, Beitler and his staff won the “Outstanding Event Award” for his 2011 Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup. It is the third time in eight years that Skagit Speedway won this award. Two are for the Dirt Cup and one for the Kasey Kahne Benefit event.

This is also the second time that Beitler has won the Rocky Mountain Region Six Promoter of the Year. He also received this honor in 2009.

“Congratulations to Steve and his staff on this great honor,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “We are proud to sanction Skagit Speedway and have them as part of our ASA Member Track program. This award is reflective of Steve’s love for the sport along with his dedication to making Skagit Speedway one of the more successful short tracks in the country. Great job and continue success.”

Beitler is one of six nominees for the 36th ARPY award. The winner will be announced at the 39th Annual RPM Speedweek National Workshop at the Plaza Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach, FL on Monday, February 20, 2012.

The other nominees this year are: Region One, the Eastern Region, Andrew Harpell, Five-Mile Point (NY) Speedway; Region Two, the Southeastern Region, James “Redd” Griffin, Screven (GA) Motor Speedway; Region Three, the Central Region, Bob Sargent, Macon (IL) and Paducah (KY) Speedways; Region Four, the Northern Region, Wayne Anderson, Don & Linus Mack, and Darren Evavold, River Cities (ND) Speedway; and Region Five, the Great Plains Region, Roger Hadan, Eagle (NE) Raceway.

Austin Reed Sets Ambitious Plans for 2012

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 2, 2012)- When Austin Reed heads back for his final semester of high school next week, he'll be closing in on the finish line of one important chapter of his life but looking forward to the next.

Reed, an Honors student at Frontier High School in Bakersfield, will attend the University of California Bakersfield in the fall to continue his educational excellence but in the mean time he has several races to run. Reed will climb the racing ladder by graduating into full-bodied stock cars this season while also competing in his Legend car throughout the year.

Dedication in the classroom has paid off on the track

"I have always liked math," Reed offered. "Math has certainly helped me in the race shop learning about chassis geometry and setups. There is absolutely real-world application to what you learn in the classroom."

Reed plans to study mechanical engineering in college and he will have plenty of opportunities to put his math skills to work this season as he crisscrosses the country racing in a variety of vehicles and series.

Reed has raced in the Legends Car semi-pro division the past several seasons and will again be one of the top competitors in region competing in the SRL Legends Series this season. And for the second year in a row he will travel to Charlotte, NC to compete in the prestigious Legends Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway from early June through the beginning of August.

"The Legends Summer Shootout is an incredible series," Reed said. "There are some of the best racers from all over the country and you have the opportunity to race several nights a week so you really have to be prepared and on your game to be successful. We learned a lot last year and I know it will pay dividends this time around."

When not racing his Legend car, Reed will also make his SRL Southwest Tour debut in March in preparation for a full rookie campaign in 2013. Reed plans to run five SRL SW Tour events under the guidance of rising NASCAR star and multi-time SRL winner Derek Thorne. Also supporting his SRL Tour efforts will be Mike Mulder, Ryan Sebek and his father Dave Reed.

Thorne will be Reed's crew chief and driver coach as he makes the transition to the heavier more powerful race cars. "Derek (Thorne) is a proven winner in the series and a good friend," Reed said. "His experience will make the transition a lot easier."

In preparation for his first SRL race at Stockton (CA), Reed and his team will test several more times in order to contend right out of the gate. "The biggest thing to get used to in the Tour car is letting the car roll through the corner," Reed offered. "The throttle pick up is similar but you can't really muscle the car like you can a Legends car. I can't wait to race in the SRL. I grew up watching guys like Craig Raudman, MK Kanke, and Jim Pettit race these cars and it has been a dream of mine to race against them."

Reed will also race in a Pro Late Model back East while at the Summer Shootout. He will pilot an Approved Memory sponsored Late Model out of the Dave Reed Driver Development shop in Mooresville, NC with Steve Graham preparing the car. "I am looking forward to racing in the Late Model in North Carolina," Reed said. "Racing is the same no matter where you go but racing a stock car in the heart of NASCAR country will be pretty cool."

To round out his racing odyssey in 2012, plans call for Reed to test in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series car while in North Carolina. If history is any indication then Reed will pass with flying colors as he embarks on the next chapter of his life after high school.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Friday, December 30, 2011) - With the motto “We Build Champions,” the American Speed Association is proud to showcase the 2011 Champions from the ASA Member Tracks and sanctioned Series. A total of 185 drivers won a championship at an ASA Member Track or a sanctioned series this season.

“We are very proud of our 2011 class of champions within the ASA family,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “Short track racing provides a great variety of racing for the fans to enjoy and competitors to choose which divisions they can compete in and have fun. Congratulations to all of our 2011 ASA Champions.”

This season, the American Speed Association crowned champions on the national, regional and local level. Here are the highlights from this season.

BARRY BEGGARLY - JOE GIBBS DRIVEN RACING OIL ASA MEMBER TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPION
The veteran driver from Pelham, NC won his fourth track championship at Ace Speedway this season. He held off Zack Franks and Chrissy Wallace to win the national title. He also is the first driver to win the ASA Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil Member Track National Championship and the NASCAR Winston Weekly Series championship (1993).

11-Race Schedule on Tap for Ninth RMCS Season

BOISE, IDAHO (December 21, 2011) The Rocky Mountain Challenge Series will kick off its ninth season of competition Saturday, April 21 at the third-mile oval of Magic Valley Speedway. The 2012 schedule will feature eleven races at three unique ovals within the intermountain region.

Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, ID has staged 29 previous RMCS races since 2004 and will host the season opening event for the ninth straight season. Local hotshoe Bobby Latham leads all active drivers with four wins at the popular third-mile banked oval where Dave Minegar is the track record holder in qualifying.

The series will visit MVS on three other occasions during the season with stops on June 16, August 11, and the traditional season finale on September 15. The August 11 date will feature a must see 200-lap race, the longest of the season, where Bobby Latham is the previous race winner at that distance.

The series will also visit Rocky Mountain Raceways located outside Salt Lake City, UT on four Saturday's during the season. The first trip takes place on May 5 with return visits slated for June 2, July 7, and a new date on September 1. The September date will showcase the series in a 125-lap event.

Steve Jones leads all active drivers with four wins at RMR while Brian Levant from Canada is the qualifying record holder at the ultra-fast 3/8-mile high banked oval.

Meridian Speedway will host three races on two different weekends for the series in 2012. The first trip is Saturday, May 19 with a return trip on Friday and Saturday July 27-28. The July weekend will feature two complete individual race programs on both days.

In ten previous races staged at Meridian's tight and tricky quarter-mile paved oval, Dave Minegar is the only two-time series winner. He is also the track record holder for qualifying with a lightning fast lap of 13.145 seconds.

"I am really happy with the 2012 schedule," offered Mike Minegar, President of the RMCS. "We made a few changes in order to control travel costs with a lot of input from our drivers. I can't thank Mike Eames (RMR), Eddy McKean (MVS), and Adam Nelson(Meridian) enough for their hard work and dedication to the series. We look forward to a great 2012."

The RMCS is unique among most Late Model touring series in that it has an inclusive rule book allowing just about every combination of Late Model type race car to compete. The popular 20-car invert and event purse payout based on total event point accumulation continues to draw interest from throughout the region with new competitors joining the series from Canada, Colorado, and Oregon.

While 2012 plans are still in the air for many drivers, 2011 champion Zan Sharp plans to compete in a handful of races while concentrating on new business ventures. Brett Thompson and Jonathon Gomez, both from the Twin Falls area, plan to return to full-time competition in the series where they are both previous winners.

Fan favorite drivers Bruce Quale, Travis Monett, Jeff Hillock, Steve Jones, John Newhouse, and Lynn Hardy will also be at many of the races throughout the season. Newhouse is the career leader with 63 series starts followed Sharp with 61 and Minegar with 60. Newhouse has scored 34 top five and 50 top ten finishes in his 63 starts.

Dave Minegar is the career money winner leader and also tops the stats sheet with 23 career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. More than double the next closest competitor.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts the full starting field putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start the race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Throughout the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race. Century Boatland in Twin Falls is a major sponsor to the series providing significant support all season long.

The 43rd edition of the Western Auto Race Promoters Association (WARPA) conference has concluded it's winter convention in Portland Oregon. Skagit Speedway was presented the 'Outstanding Event Award' for the 2011 Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup Presented by Goodyear.

This award was voted on by the 27 different promoters and sanctioning bodies from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia.

"This is a real honor for all the race teams, officials, fans and workers at Skagit Speedway" said track owner Steve Beitler, "I know Jim Raper would be proud of what his dream race has become".

This is the third time in eight years Skagit Speedway has received this award, twice for the Dirt Cup and once for the Kasey Kahne Benefit Event.

Thompson Seeks Win on New Phoenix Layout

JEROME, IDAHO (November, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, will make his 17th career NASCAR K&N Pro Series start at Phoenix Int'l Raceway this Saturday afternoon capping a challenging season for the eleven year series veteran. Since the point's championship has already been decided; this race is all about winning.

Thompson started the 2011 campaign with a fifth place finish at Phoenix, his sixth top ten finish in 16 previous attempts at the one-mile newly paved oval. But this weekend will bring new challenges not only to Brett but the rest of the competitors as the track has been reconfigured and paved since their last visit.

"I know the track will be fast,' Thompson offered. "It is going to be the same for everybody and since there is new pavement, tire wear will not be as big of concern like in years past."

Add in the fact that the race format has also changed with a break added in during the 125-lap contest, negating any need for pit strategy.

"In the past teams would either pit early in order to get track position late, or they would pit late and have the best tires with about 30-laps to go," Thompson offered. "The break pretty much means it will be an all out dash to the finish with everyone on the same strategy."

While Jack Sellers leads all active drivers with more than 250 career series starts, Thompson has racked up 112 career starts making him one of the most experienced drivers in the field. Thompson will lean on every bit of that experience as the series finale at Phoenix always draws a stout field of cars.

"We are usually pretty good at Phoenix and if it were not for some luck, we might have picked up a couple of wins," Thompson said. "I love racing at Phoenix. It is a great track and always a lot of fun. It will certainly be different this year but I know the fans will see a great race."

Thompson has averaged a finish of 10.8 while completing 96% of all laps contested and has been running at the conclusion at twelve of the 13 races this season. Thompson is fighting for a top five finish in the point standings where he is currently in sixth place just 29-points out of fifth place heading into the Phoenix finale. In his eleven year NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 112 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 23 top five and 63 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009.

Idaho Competitor Looking to Closeout 2011 Like he Started

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (November 11, 2011) Jonathon Gomez, driver of the Heritage Cattle Co./Century Boatland Chevrolet, returns to action this Saturday when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series vists Phoenix Int'l Raceway for the series season finale. Back in February, Gomez finished second at Phoenix to record his best career finish and he is looking for victory lane this time around.

Gomez traded the driver's seat of his Heritage Motor Sports Chevrolet for a seat in one of his many pieces of farm equipment this season so he will be making only his seventh start of the year. The 28-year opted to focus on work and growing a new trucking business this season but the lure of racing was never far from his mind.

Last season he won the SRL Southwest Tour title and was a championship contender all season in the K&N Pro Series and this season he has only raced occasionally. The race at Phoenix is one that he would not miss.

When asked what he was most excited about the event this weekend, Gomez was quick to respond. "I just can't wait to drive and be in the car."

In four previous starts at Phoenix in the K&N Pro Series, Gomez has scored two top five finishes and has been among the fastest each race. "Phoenix is like no other track we race on and it has a lot of history for guys out west," Gomez offered. "If there was a track where I would want to win my first race then Phoenix is it."

Since February, the track has undergone a major renovation project with new pavement and a change in the old "dog leg". From various media reports, drivers have praised the track, the banking, and the new pavement. A new track surface is not the only change competitors in the K&N Series will see on Saturday. They will also have to deal with a break during the 125-lap race essentially throwing out pit strategy that was used in the past.

Those changes could play into Gomez' hand as his car is always fast and really good on new tires. "I am just excited to get back to racing and look forward to the race on Saturday."

Forget what you may have heard about waiting until spring because drifting is returning to PGP Motorsports Park for a special winter event!

Running rain or shine, 2011 Snow Drift will be Sunday, Dec. 18, kicking off with a practice session at 9 a.m. followed by drifting from 11 a.m. to dusk.

Drivers must have previous experience drifting at PGP and space is limited, so register early! Drivers can find details and register at PacificGP.com.

The fee for spectator is $10 with a new, unwrapped toy for donation to local needy children, or $15 without a toy. We’ll have food and warm drinks available, too.

Bullet Racing Announces 2012 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona Campaign

VANCOUVER, Canada (November 8, 2011) -- Bullet Racing announced today its entry into the 50th anniversary edition of the “Rolex 24 At Daytona”, the preeminent sports car endurance race in North America, to be held January 26-29, 2012 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

“We are extremely excited to announce our return to the biggest race on the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car series calendar. The fact that this year’s edition of the 24 at Daytona is the 50th anniversary of the race, and that we will once again be representing Canada as the only Canadian entry, makes it all the more special”, says Team Principal Steve Paquette. “We’re looking forward to bringing a strong team to the race again this year, and building on last year’s achievement of a terrific qualifying run, and running as high as 4th in the race”

Vancouver native Darryl O’Young returns to Bullet Racing as lead driver for the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona. Darryl also races in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and the Porsche Super Cup in Europe. He is a 3 time winner of the famed Macau Grand Prix, and currently competes in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

Bullet Racing team drivers Bob Yeager of West Vancouver BC, Joe White of Spokane Valley, WA and Randy Blaylock of Bothell, WA will be testing the team’s 2011 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup race car at Daytona on December 6th and 7th. Randy and Joe recently piloted Bullet Racing’s entry to overall victory in the 2011 “8 Hours of the Cascades” at Portland International Raceway.

The” Bullet Racing Driver Development Program” operates for the purpose of developing drivers to race for the team at high profile races like the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Joe White and Bob Yeager are both part of this program and are excited about their chances in this years Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Guard Transmission will be supporting the effort in 2012 as the primary drive train sponsor. President and CEO Matt Monson was on hand in Vancouver for the announcement. “We have done an incredible amount of research and development on the Porsche transmissions and differentials. We are confident that our products will carry Bullet the full 24 Hours and beyond.“

JEROME, IDAHO (October 21, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, left the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts "150" at All American Speedway (Roseville, CA) this past weekend thinking what could have been. After clawing his way back through the field to the fifth position after an earlier race incident, his top five hopes were dashed on the final lap.

Thompson would start the 150-lap event from the 16th position making the task of a solid finish difficult as the furthest back any previous winner has come from was the 15th position. Within the first ten laps his task was made all the more difficult after he was tapped from behind and sent spinning.

The resulting spin left Thompson at the tail of the field, and on a tight and tricky 1/3-mile oval it can be difficult to stay on the lead lap when the leaders are clicking off 14-second laps times. Thompson made his way back to just outside the top ten before he was lapped by the leader just past lap 100.

A couple of laps later the caution came out allowing Thompson to get back on the lead where he climbed up to the sixth position, but his ascent was short lived as one of the rookies in the field spun right in front of his Chevrolet leaving no where for Thompson to guide his car. The result left the front of his RTTI sponsored car heavily damaged but the radiator was intact. That was the good news.

The bad news was the contact closed up the grill opening and blocked the air from cooling his engine. Over the final 40 laps, Thompson watched the water temperature climb, but his power plant held strong. As the field made its way to the final couple of laps, Thompson had great optimism that he could salvage a top ten and quite possibly a top five finish after battling with Chad Boat for the spot.

His hopes quickly turned to disappointment after a caution slowed the field and set up a green/white/checkered finish. The additional three laps was the boiling point as he lost power on the white flag lap and limped across the finish line in the 12th position.

""I think we were lucky to finish 12th," Thompson said after the race. "I don't know how that thing stayed together that long but the finish kind of sealed the deal. These short tracks are tough and not qualifying well kind of hurt but we were able to battle back and looked to have a solid finish in our sights. Oh well, on to Phoenix."

Thompson will attempt to close out the season just like he started and that would be a top five finish at Phoenix Int'l Raceway November 12. Thompson's best Phoenix finish in 16 previous starts is a pair of fourth place finishes (04, 08) to go along with his fifth place effort to open the 2011 season. "Racing at Phoenix is great for the series," Thompson stated. "Phoenix is a very popular track for fans and to be part of a big racing weekend to close out the year will be great. The K&N Pro Series continues to get better and I know the fans will see a great show."

Thompson also plans to compete in the big Fall Classic Open Comp Late Model Show at the Bullring at Las Vegas next month. "I really like driving in the Late Model's and if we get our motor back in time we plan to be there."

Thompson has averaged a finish of 10.8 while completing 96% of all laps contested and has been running at the conclusion at twelve of the 13 races this season. Thompson is fighting for a top five finish in the point standings where he is currently in sixth place just 29-points out of fifth place heading into the final race of the season at Phoenix next month. In his eleven year NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 112 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 23 top five and 63 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009.

Heritage Motor Sports to Field Two-Car Effort At All American

ROSEVILLE, CA (October 14, 2011) John Gomez, owner of Heritage Motor Sports, will field a two-car effort this weekend at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts "150" event. The race is the 13th event of the season and will feature the largest field of competitors ever at the one-third mile paved oval.

Making his debut in the series is 15-year old Andrew Murray from Temecula, CA. Murray, who will become the youngest driver to compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series' 58-year history at just 12-days past his 15th birthday eclipsing the mark set earlier this year by Cameron Hayley, is one of rising stars of the sport.

Thompson Looking to Close out 2011 NASCAR West Campaign Strong

JEROME, IDAHO (October 13, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, enters the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts "150" at All American Speedway (Roseville, CA) focused on closing out the 2011 schedule like he started. Thompson currently sits seventh in the point standings but knows a strong performance this Saturday night will vault him up in the standings heading into the final race in November.

Thompson finished eighth at All American back in the spring for his only top ten performance in four starts at the tricky one-third mile paved oval. While qualifying is critical in the NKNPS, a top five starting position at All American is essential. In twelve previous series races at All American, the winner has come from the pole position six times and the furthest back a winner has started was 15th.

"You have to really hit your marks with no mistakes," Thompson offered. "This track is not easy to drive and as much as you need to concentrate on your marks, you have to drive defensively."

Defensive driving may be the operative word this weekend as more than 30 drivers are entered for a shot at one of only 24 starting positions in the 150-lap event. A number of the entrants are making their first series start and a few are not even legally allowed to drive on the road yet.

"This will be an interesting race," Thompson offered. "There will be a lot of new faces with not much experience in these cars but so many of these young kids are really good racers already. Starting up front is really the key."

Of the 12 series races so far this season, the winner has started inside the top six on eleven occasions and the worst starting position was 15th, ironically at All American Speedway back in March. Jason Fensler quietly moved through the field and made a thrilling last lap pass of the top three to claim the victory.

"Just look at the stats for this season," Thompson said. "The winner has started on the front row 60% of the time and in the top five 85% of the time. That is all you really need to know. That is our goal this weekend. We know if you start up front you will likely finish up front."

In preparation for the race this weekend, Thompson joined more than 20 other teams at All American last week for a test session and was pleased with the outcomes. "Races like All American are really two different races," Thompson said. "First you must qualify well, but then you need a car that is really good on the long runs. Since the races are impound events, you tend to give up a little on either side but we learned a few things at the test and we think we will be really good on Saturday night."

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 10, 2011) - With just a few days remaining until the final event of the 2011 Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL, second-year off-road racer Andrew Caddell (Traxxas/Mopar/AMSOIL/BFG) carries the Traxxas PRO Light title belt into Texas this weekend - home of the Plano-based Traxxas company - for a big time celebration and some flat out racing at TORC's final competition of the 2011 racing season, Oct. 15-16, at Cycle Ranch MX Park in Floresville.

A relative newcomer to the sport of TORC-style short course off-road racing, Caddell was the runner-up in 2010's Traxxas PRO Light class - finishing off a thrilling season with a much-discussed run in with rival Casey Currie. The end result left Caddell hungry for more and a chance to improve upon his impressive 2010 rookie season stats of three wins, eight podium finishes and seven Traxxas Maxx Lap awards.

We caught up with the Graham, Wash., native as he prepares to make the trek to San Antonio in pursuit of two more wins and Traxxas Maxx Lap awards to put an exclamation point on his dominant 2011 season.

TORC Series: Andrew, congrats on your first-ever Traxxas TORC Series PRO class title. What's the plan for Texas this weekend?

Andrew Caddell: Going into Texas we have no pressure which lets us do whatever we really want to do. I know I want to get a couple more wins before the season is out and I'm sure the whole Jenkins Brothers team does as well so we are going to be pushing hard to get those wins and more Maxx Lap awards for the team and hopefully go out on a high note this year.

TORC Series: Last year the scenario was a bit different heading into the last race, rewind a bit and talk about that last TORC Traxxas PRO Light race, how that was on your mind during the off season and what your goals were heading into the summer of 2011.

Andrew Caddell: The end of last year was a bad deal for me. I felt like I let the championship slip away with being too nice in my first year. Over the winter I had a lot of time to think and I told myself that in 2011 I was going to be more aggressive but also try to not make mistakes. Our goals were simple heading into 2011 and that was win races and the championship. I knew I had the best team behind me now it was just up to me.

TORC Series: Heading into the final round at Texas' Cycle Ranch MX Park, and reflecting upon the TORC 2011 season, what was it that allowed you to carry such a lead into the final round?

Andrew Caddell: Consistency really let us get to where we are. I had ten podiums in a row starting at the 2nd RedBud race. The first couple were to get us back into the championship hunt after my wreck in the first RedBud race. Then everything went my way at Crandon, Bark River and Chicago where my championship rivals all had issues and allowed me to pull away more and more and ultimately wrap up the championship with three races to go.

TORC Series: And statistically speaking you led the Traxxas PRO Light class in every category - four wins, ten podiums and five Traxxas Maxx Lap Awards. Given your rivalry with Casey Currie heading into 2011, did you think you'd have such a dominant year stat-wise?

Andrew Caddell: I knew I had the team and truck to have a great year I just had to put it all together for them and we did everything right for those ten races to be consistent and pull away from the pack. I never dreamed of getting ten podiums in a row in such a tight class but everything fell right for me this year.

TORC Series: From the outside looking in, all signs point to your Saturday night run from last-to-2nd - twice! - at Charlotte being the turning point of your season, highlighted by a roll over, mid race hot pit and a spinout. It seemed at this point you really looked to have the Traxxas PRO Light field covered. Was that Charlotte race as important to you as it seemed from the press box?

Andrew Caddell: I think that Charlotte race kept us in the championship hunt but I knew we had to keep close in the championship there as the next five races were at my two best tracks which is where we were able to stretch the lead out more. Covina, California (9 October 2011) - Tiger Racing’s Paul Brown finished his Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge GTS Championship winning season on podium, placing third in the season ending, Road Atlanta Grand Prix. The crew was excited to add a third place trophy to the multiple 1sts and 2nds won this year and for the fact that Brown has matched Parnelli Jones’ 1970 record setting SCCA Trans-Am Championship season also in a production based Boss 302.

While the team was a bit disappointed with their qualifying position, a season low of 7th due to traffic, starting from further back in the pack allowed driver, Paul Brown, to win the Optima Batteries Best Standing Start award. Brown also laid down the fastest lap of the race in the #50 One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning/Luminox/Kenny Brown Performance Ford Mustang Boss 302S, adding to an impressive list of stats for the year, including 5 wins, 10 top ten finishes, 9 top five finishes, fastest lap in 7 of 12 races and more laps lead during the season than all other GTS drivers combined.

When Paul Brown was asked how he feels looking back on the year, he said, “I’m thrilled to end the season on a high note, but I don’t think it’s all sunk in yet. This has been a dream season for me and, I think, for the whole crew and everyone else involved.” Brown went on to say, “Winning a Championship in the series that I essentially grew up in, means the world to me. I even met my wife racing in this series! It’s just been an awesome ride.”

It’s claimed that a team is like a family often enough that it may sound like a cliché, but new sponsor John McCarthy, a representative of One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, insists that this is absolutely true of Tiger Racing. He said, “I’ve known Paul and his father Kenny for a very long time. Every racer started somewhere and most of today’s championship winners — like Helio Castroneves (IndyCar), Jeff Gordon (NASCAR), Lewis Hamilton (F1) to name just a few — began racing in karts in their teens or earlier.

To help get PGP’s younger karters off to a good start we’ve scheduled a Junior Rental Race for Saturday, Oct. 22.

Open to any driver age 12-14 at least 4 feet 10 inches tall and who has completed PGP’s Junior Racer school, the Junior Rental Race is perfect for kids with little or no race experience OR for those looking to improve their track skills.

Covina, California (21 September 2011) - By winning his fifth race of the season, Tiger Racing’s Paul Brown has secured his first SCCA Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge GTS Championship title. With one race left on the schedule, Brown has matched Parnelli Jones’ 1970 record setting SCCA Trans-Am Championship season also in a production based Boss 302 and looks to beat it by winning the final race of the year at Road Atlanta. After 40 years, the Mustang Boss 302 is again flexing its muscles and tearing up the tracks in SCCA’s professional road race series.

Paul Brown and the rest of the Tiger Racing team began the year on a race-to-race basis, but in demonstrating determination, hard work, passion and commitment, they gathered momentum and support from all corners. New sponsors have been added each weekend, but none more historic than Kenny Brown Performance.

Paul’s racing career started under his Dad’s personal instruction in a Kenny Brown Mustang at Topeka’s Heartland Park in the early ‘90s and Paul has been campaigning cars ever since.

“All of us at Kenny Brown Performance have enjoyed watching Paul race this year,” says the elder Brown, “As a racer, I’ve been pulling for him and his Tiger Racing team. As a father, I’m proud of the way Paul has handled himself, both inside and outside the car.” Kenny also said, “Paul has been providing me with valuable information and testing data on our new line of Kenny Brown suspension products for 2005 and newer Mustangs. I’m happy we are able to showcase the Kenny Brown Performance brand and help Paul in the last two races of the year.”

Tiger Racing’s Crew Chief, Adam Cox, was quite candid when asked how he felt about winning the GTS Championship. He said, “I honestly knew we could do this. My only fear was that we wouldn’t have the funding, but I never doubted our crew.” Adam went on to say, “SCCA doesn’t always make it easy. I think they could revamp the way they ‘equalize’ the field, but this season was a lot of fun. I called it way back at the SEMA Show in November and we did it.”

At PGP Motorsports Park, we realize a big part of what makes us the top racing venue in the Pacific Northwest is the people who work here.

With that in mind, we’re pleased to announce the addition of Scott Cowell to the PGP staff. Scott’s 20 years of experience as a racer, driving instructor and race engineer will provide immediate benefit to the multiple and diverse groups that enjoy competing on PGP’s award-winning track.

"After seeing the amazing facility (PGP owners) Paul and Juli Zalud and their crew have built in such a short period of time, I'm very excited to be able to bring my motorsports experience to the team,” said Scott. “It seems everyone at PGP is driven by the common goal to be the absolute best action sports facility of its kind in the nation.”

The 28-year-old comes to PGP after working as track manager at SIMA International Raceway, an outdoor karting facility that opened last summer in Sumas, Wash. PGP and SIMA were built around the same time — PGP opened a year earlier, in summer 2009 — but everyone was already familiar with each other.

“The karting industry is rather tight-knit and being involved in karting in the Northwest pretty much everyone knows everyone,” Scott said with a small laugh. “But Paul also owns and operated the Stars of Karting national series, and I was actively involved in that as a mechanic and engineer. So when this opportunity presented itself and knowing the potential, I was very excited.”

That feeling was mutual.

“We have been searching for someone that can truly represent Juli and me when we are not on hand. Most of my responsibilities are actually away from the track, coming up with new ways to promote the facility, doing trade shows and otherwise outside selling,” said Paul Zalud. “It was also important to find some help for our son Kyle, who has been burning both ends of the candle and done a great job. But it is just too much as we continue to grow. I am very excited that Scott is with us now and we are all much better off with him on board.”

Scott’s visit fell on the day of the Bigger Foot Tandem drifting event, so he not only got to see and check out the facility, but also get a taste for the versatility of motorsports PGP can host — and the strong bond that has been created with PGP’s customers and fans.

“Saturday’s drift event was definitely the largest number of spectators I’ve ever seen at a kart track anywhere in the world,” said Scott. “My major background has been in karting, but I’ve been a huge motorsports fan my whole life. I think SuperMoto is going to be as much fun as was the drifting event. To be more involved in a motorsports facility and not just a karting facility is an exciting change and challenge for me.”

Originally from New Orleans, Scott began karting at 8 and spent 10 years behind the wheel. He moved around a lot after leaving The Big Easy, including stops in North Carolina and Minnesota to name just two places, and worked as a stock car engineer for a couple years. His focus returned full-time to karting about eight years ago, with time spent in racer development and engineering.

After just one visit to PGP Scott said he was “amazingly impressed by how hard Kyle, Matt and Colin all work as well as the rest of the staff,” and he is confident his background and experience will be of benefit to PGP’s loyal customers, which includes karters — both competition and arrive-and-drive rentals — SuperMoto riders, drifters and car lappers. “Oh, and the extreme obstacle course runners and specialty cyclers and all the future events PGP is constantly developing.”

"In my 20 years in the sport I've been fortunate enough to participate in motorsports from every angle. I’ve operated facilities and I’ve been on the consumer side of racetracks, having raced myself and working for race teams,” he said. “I know what the consumer wants from a racetrack. Having that perspective helps me to ensure that we’re providing what PGP customers want."

Lots of Rental Kart Racing this fall, starting Saturday‏

KENT, Wash. — (Sept. 19, 2011) The leaves are starting to fall and skies are back to gray, but that just means it’s time for more racing at PGP!

We know you’re saving up for Christmas shopping, too, so we’re offering up the most bang for your buck: Rental Kart racing!

We’ve got two different types for you to choose from: Rental Kart League Racing (RKLR) and Rental Endurance Racing. RKLR begins this Saturday and Rental Enduro begins on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Rental Kart racing at PGP is perfect for newcomers and experienced karters alike. You show up (and are 15 or older) and we provide the rest: kart, fuel, tires, helmet and rain gear if conditions warrant.

All Rental Kart series events are rain or shine, too, and once you’ve experienced the thrill of racing in the rain you’ll be looking forward to those gray skies! We’ll also be offering different track configurations so you’ll get the full PGP racing experience.

Rental Kart League Racing returns this Saturday, Sept. 24 and continues every other Saturday morning until New Years Eve.

In RKLR events there are two classes, Expert and Novice, and weights will be equalized to insure fair performance for different-sized racers. During each RKLR event you’ll get four on-track sessions —practice, qualifying, Pre-Final and Final — and there are no maximum number of drivers. The fee for a single event is $85 for members but why not buy a discounted season pass for $500 for all eight events? (that’s just $62.50 per event or a savings of $180!).

The eight race dates are Sept. 24, Oct. 8, Oct. 22, Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3, Dec. 17 and Dec. 31 (what a way to ring in the New Year!). Please note there will be no rental kart classes offered during the Stars of PGP Karting Series this fall.

Rental Endurance Racing returns to PGP on Oct. 1. For Rental Endurance events grab up to two friends to take on the field in the Team class or run on your own in the Ironman(woman) class. Each endurance event includes one practice session and two competitive racing sessions: one for 30 minutes and one for 60 minutes.

Cost is $50 for each person in a three-driver team, $75 per person for a two-driver team and $125 for the Ironman (woman). This is member pricing. There are six Rental Endurance events scheduled: Oct. 1, Oct. 15, Oct. 29, Nov. 12, Nov. 26 and Dec. 10.

Run all rental kart events this fall or take part in select dates for either the Rental Kart League Racing or Rental Endurance Racing — either way you’ll have more fun than the law should allow.

Sharp Outlasts Rivals to Claim Third Series Title

BOISE, IDAHO (September 9, 2011) The events of September 11th ten years ago are forever embedded in our collective memories and we shall never forget. Then as now, we honor those that have passed and look to sport to heal and unite. While all we do pales and is trivial compared to the heroic acts of firefighters, police, first responders, and the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces, we remember and celebrate our freedom and liberty. Last night all across the country Americans gathered to unite in freedom and celebrate the sports we love.

In a small town in rural Idaho at a small bullring known as Magic Valley Speedway, Jonathon Gomez dominated the racing action in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series by capturing the Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award, started at the back of the 100-lap feature, and drove through the field to score his second career series victory. And while the victory was received enthusiastically by his hometown fans, it was only a race and one of many such sporting events across the country.

Gomez held off a hard-charging John Newhouse to capture the win. Rick Fowble, Bruce Quale, and Eric Rhead rounded out the top five finishers in the season finale completing the eighth season for the popular Late Model stock car series. And while Gomez triumphed in the race it was also a night for Zan Sharp from Wellsville, UT to celebrate a record setting third series title.

Sharp survived an early wreck where he pitted multiple times to repair the damage to his Sharp Transportation Chevrolet. If anything, his performance and championship run personified teamwork. His finish of 15th place in the final run down was just enough to take the title by ten points over Jeff Hillock. Hillock had his share of on-track incidents during the evening as he was involved in no less than three incidents; each resulted in a trip to the rear of the field. Hillock battled back each time and during the closing laps of the race he had moved back up to the third position (which if he finished there would have put the championship in his hands) and waged a spirited battle with championship rival Steve Jones.

On lap 95 with the title in sight for both Jones and Hillock got together and sending Jones spinning. Per RMCS rules, if you are involved in an incident that brings out the caution flag then all involved go to the rear of the field. That split second for both put the championship back in Sharp's hands. Jones would finish in the eighth position while Hillock finished ninth. Sharp claimed the title by a mere ten points over Hillock with Jones dropping the third place. Bruce Quale moved up one spot to finish fourth in the standings for his third top five points finish of his career. Lynn Hardy rounded out the top five in the final 2011 standings.

For Sharp, the championship was the culmination of a long season where the title was in doubt after an off-road accident sidelined him with several broken bones early in the season. As with all championships, his team rose to the challenge and kept the successful business entrepreneur in contention all season.

Devin LaHorgue won the A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Rookie-of-the-Year title over Tyler Bailey. Jeff Pohlman, Lynn Hardy, and Thane Alderman each won their respective heat races while Bob Massie (2), John Newhouse (23), Jeff Pohlman (15) and Jonathon Gomez (60) led laps and collected a bonus from ESI.

Championships are never just about one race. Each of the top five championship finishers could look back to several races where if things had worked out differently, it could have been their name on the championship trophy. While Sharp celebrates the accomplishment, the fans, track operators, teams, and the series officials are all winners as the RMCS provided all involved great racing action all season long. The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts the full starting field putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start the race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. All racing at PGP is rain or shine and we mean to make a day of it, too — all for you. Idaho Competitor Balances Family, Business, and Racing

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (September 9, 2011) Jonathon Gomez, driver of the Heritage Cattle Co./Century Boatland Chevrolet, had hoped his return to the driver's seat this past weekend as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series at Spokane (WA) County Raceway would land him in victory lane. For much of the night it appeared that he would contend for the win but that all changed on lap 177 when he spun in turn two derailing his effort.

Gomez qualified third in the 22-car field despite not being in the seat since June as he opted to sit out several races and concentrate on new business ventures that took much of his time.

He showed little signs of rust as he unloaded fast and laid down one of his best qualifying laps of his brief NASCAR career. The Spokane "200" was broken up into two 100-lap segments so the plan was pretty simple. Run competitive and stay in the top five over the first 100-laps. Check.

Make the necessary adjustments during the break to propel the team to the end. Check. Be running in the top five with 25-laps to go. Check.

On lap 177 of the schedule 200, Gomez was engaged in a battle for position with Luis Martinez and Micheal Self and as the trio exited turn two Gomez found himself spinning. He was able to gather the car back up and continue but the spin dropped him from contention where he eventually finished in the eighth position.

While the finish was not what he envisioned, he gave plenty back to the fans who came out to cheer. Gomez spent considerable time in the stands prior to the race signing autographs and greeting all the fans in attendance.

Gomez will be back in action this weekend when the he returns to the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series which will stage their season finale at Magic Valley Speedway Saturday night. Gomez captured the victory in this race last season after setting fast time and starting at the back of the 100-lap race. It was Gomez' first series victory and he is seeking the exact same result this time out.

JEROME, IDAHO (September 9, 2011) Brett Thompson, driver of the RTTI/Jerome Truck Service Inc. Chevrolet, entered last weekend riding a four race race top ten finish streak, but unfortunately, a seventh place finish in the Spokane 200 for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series was not enough to keep him from dropping to seventh in the standings heading into the final two events of the season.

Thompson qualified ninth despite being one of the fastest cars in practice. Thompson stayed in tow with the leaders all night but was never able to mount a charge to the front. Thompson finished on the lead lap for the tenth time this season boosting his lap completion totals. Thompson has averaged a finish of 10.5 while completing 96% of all laps contested and has been running at the conclusion at eleven of the twelve races this season.

Despite the finish,Thompson is locked in a battle in the point standings where he is currently in seventh place just one point behind sixth place and 8-points out of fifth place. In his NASCAR K&N Pro Series career, Thompson has started 111 NKNPS races since 2000 scoring one win, one Coors Light Pole Award, 23 top five and 63 top ten performances. His best points finish was fifth in 2009.

Thompson will have two more chances this season to climb back into the top five. He is off until October 15 when the series returns to All American Speedway in Roseville, CA where Thompson finished 8th earlier this season. The series will close out the 2011 campaign on November 12 at Phoenix (AZ) Int'l Raceway where Thompson finished fifth to start the season.

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 8, 2011) - Round 12 of the 2011 TRAXXAS TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL, will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED Channel this coming Thurs., Sept. 15, from 9-11 p.m. EST.

Catch all your favorite stars on the TORC Series tour, along with special racing guests - motocross' James "Bubba" Stewart and NASCAR Trucks' Brendan Gaughn - in this spectacular form of high flying, dirt churning, Baja-style truck racing motorsport - where you can catch all the airborne action from your seat!

Season Finale Pairs Former Series Champs Sharp and Jones

BOISE, IDAHO (September 9, 2011) The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series presented by Century Boatland has a championship battle that will go down to the final lap Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho. Two-time series champion Zan Sharp from Wellsville, UT leads 2010 series champion Steve Jones from Meridian, ID by 64-points heading into the final series event of the season at the one-third mile paved oval.

There are many subplots to this race including the fact that Jones has never won a series event race at Magic Valley despite winning nearly 100 races in local competition and being crowned local racing champion multiple times. Add in that Sharp has scored victories at MVS including the season opening event this year, and you will have odds makers going crazy to figure this one out.

While Sharp has the upper hand in the victory column, Jones has been fast at the tricky third-mile layout scoring the Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award at both races earlier this season. Jones has five career fast time awards while Sharp has nine. Sharp has competed in the series since inception and has 60 career starts while Jones has been a regular the past four seasons starting 32 races.

Sharp has four top five finishes this season while Jones has five. Jones has won twice this year with Sharp scoring one win. Sharp has added two other top ten finishes and that may well mark the difference in their respective campaigns.

There are several other story lines heading into the finale. Jeff Hillock of Cedar Hills, UT led the point standings most of the year only to have trouble in the last two races dropping him to third in the standings, six points behind Jones. Hillock will make only his 26th career start Saturday night despite being one of the most season veterans in the series. Hillock is seeking his first win at Magic Valley and still has an outside chance at the title but it will take a little bad luck from the other two in order to vault him to the top of the standings.

Lynn Hardy from West Valley, UT sits fourth in the standings 47-points behind Hillock and is also searching for his first career win at MVS. Hardy has started 40 RMCS races and has a best finish of fifth at MVS on two occasions. Hardy has been fast as of late finishing second in the Idaho 200 and setting fast time in the last series event.

Rounding out the top five in the standings is local racing icon Bruce Quale from Twin Falls. Quale has started 44 series races featuring one win at MVS coming last year. Quale also has ten additional top ten performances at MVS making him a threat to challenge for the win Saturday night.

Jonathon Gomez also from Twin Falls will return to the series this weekend. Gomez is coming off an 8th place finish last weekend in Spokane in NASCAR K&N Pro Series action and hopes to duplicate his performance from last season. Last year in this event, Gomez set quick time, started at the tail of the field and scored his first career series victory.

Bobby Latham III of Twin Falls leads all series drivers with four victories at MVS with two-time series champion Dave Minegar and 2009 champion John Dillon scoring three wins each. Zan Sharp, Tom Hill, Bryan Warf, James Eaton, and John Newhouse each have two wins apiece at MVS with eight other drivers claiming one victory.

Dave Minegar is the track record holder with a quick lap of 14.216 seconds/84.328 mph and has 23 career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Awards. There have been 28 previous series races held at Magic Valley since 2004 featuring 16 different winners.

Devin LaHorgue from Redding, CA will claim the A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Rookie-of-the-Year title when he starts the race on Saturday. LaHorgue is ninth in the standings with one top five and four top ten performances this season.

With numerous subplots and story lines, there will be no shortage of intrigue and action Saturday night. The action gets underway at 5pm MT and will include a whole host of local racing divisions. It comes down to one race to decide whether Hillock can rise from the ashes and win his first series crown or will Jones score a second title over Sharp who is in the driver's seat to become the first three-time series champion.

The RMCS utilizes a racing format not found in ANY other regional touring series around the country. The RMCS inverts the full starting field putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start the race. This format ensures race fans see what they paid for and that is passing. Each driver is awarded three points per position gained in the event. Points are also awarded for qualifying and heat race finishes. Through the history of the series, the winning driver has averaged a 15th place starting position. To ensure competition, the RMCS pays it purse based on total point accumulation for the event and provides several special performance awards at each race.
